Makeup Storage for Small Spaces: December 2013

OK, so I’ve been planning this post for a while, but it’s a) embarrassing, and b) hard to come up with a system that you’re happy with. I think this is good for me right now. I have very little space, and I like it like that because it’s extremely obvious when I go overboard. On my work/only desk, I have a corner, a cubby, and a drawer for makeup I want within my reach. By this, I mean, I have a separate drawer for back-ups (e.g. new mascara I don’t want to open because of current mascaras in rotation, etc.) and products I don’t reach for often. There were a lot more photos in the original iteration of this post, but I only kept the useful ones to show my main set-up. The desk looks neat because the other crap I have (books, bags, etc.) are on my bed, ha.

The Weekender No. 3

Hey everyone! 🙂 It’s time for The Weekender, which is a series that has been progressively boring in my humble opinion. I haven’t been doing much outside of the house if only for the fact that the approaching holidays means a sudden avalanche of deadlines and yes. Hmm. I have seen The Hobbit twice, though, and it was still excellent the second time around. I love the book, but I did enjoy the liberties that they took with making the movie. Except maybe for the romantic angle, but that’s neither here nor there. ON INSTAGRAM Are you on Instagram? So am I. 🙂 Follow me on @presidents if you are so inclined. My sister & I are setting up a shop! / My brother and Noah got a haircut~ / Re-reading one of my favorite books for class An FOTD wearing shadows from The Hobbit Collection by Shiro / New coffee shop discovery: Yardstick at Legazpi Village / Nature Republic Snail Solution Set Oh, and another cool thing: I finally had the first roll off …

A Lazy Girl’s Face Base Tag Team Miracle

Hey all, just a quick post to kind of bring attention to this awesome tag team of product + tool that I used today when I was in a rush to get out of the house. I am writing this because after my nap, I noticed how glow-y and awesome my skin looked and I tried to remember what base I used today. It turns out—none, except for the Guerlain Météorites Perles d’Azur (from the Emilio Pucci collaboration last year), applied pretty frakking sparingly with the Hakuhodo G5519BkSL Powder Brush. I literally put on eyebrows, a paint pot, eyeliner, mascara, a beach tint, and a sweep of this powder all over after swirling it in the tub of pearls once. Sorry about melty makeup. This was taken after seven hours of wear, a funeral, lunch, and a nap. I know I’ve been harping on about the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, but today was a good reminder that these colored ballz rock. Anyway, I am home on a Saturday because I have to work. I hope …

EOTD: Radiant Orchid

Pantone recently released its Color of the Year for 2014, which is Radiant Orchid: Image from Pantone It’s a really, really pretty color, so of course I had to try and make it into an eye look. I used some shadows from the Oslo Cosmetics purchases I received last week namely, Pyxis and Lyra. Those were basically the only shadows I used but I’ll break down the look a bit more later. For cheeks, I used Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Flush and shu uemura blush in soft mauve M225. For my base, I used the Maybelline Clear Smooth BB White in 02 Natural*, set with bareMinerals Mineral Veil. For lips, I have Stylenanda 3CE Lip Color in Vamp* over the Korres Lip Butter in Jasmine. I’m testing out this eyebrow pen I just got, the Graymelin Seven Tattoo Eyebrow in Dark Brown* with a review coming right up! As for the eyes, I laid down my base (MAC Paint Pot in Painterly) and applied Oslo Cosmetics’ Pyxis on the inner 2/3 of the eye. …

Unboxing: BDJ Box (December 2013)*

Hey everyone, here’s a quick unboxing post of the BDJ Box for December. It’s another brand-centric offering from BDJ. This time, the spotlight is on Max Factor. It has quite a bit of makeup items in it that you can try extensively, which is always nice. The theme for this week’s box is Stand Out Like a Star. Max Factor is known as “the makeup of makeup artists,” and this box has a lot of items geared to making you feel like a Hollywood celebrity. Most of the items are sample-sized, with the exception of the Creme Puff, which is a compact powder. Here’s a rundown of the items that came with the BDJ Box: Creme Puff Pressed Powder in Medium Beige — “all-in-one compact powder originally made for movie stars.” I haven’t tried it on my face, but holy wow this is heavily scented! (21g, Php 575) Earth Spirit Eyeshadow — this is a really pretty golden color that’s perfect for all over the lid. Makeup artists use it for eyeliner, too, according to …

Unboxing: bntgirls BeautyBox (November 2013)*

What do you mean “November?” I’m pretty aware that it’s already December, however this little box was held up at customs (the far, meticulous Pasay branch), so it took me a while to get. In any case, I’ll be doing speed reviews and first for these items over the course of this week, and then I’ll check back in with you all after sustained use. I’m actually pretty happy with my skin care routine right now, but this box is full of skin care items, so I’ll have to readjust some steps and products so I can report the full effect of my experience with these items in the near future. 🙂 I know it’s a little tricky to review skin care, but I’ll do my best. In any case, here are the contents of the box: — Verikos Aloe Calming Oil — Verikos Collagen Tightening Cream — Mizon Returning Starfish Cream – BRTC Bright Eye Vitalizer Cream — Nature Republic Snail Emulsion 70, 80, 90 — Graymelin Seven Tattoo Eyebrow in Dark Brown — …
