Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP May 2015: Sexy Eye Palette + Why I Won’t Be Signing Up Again

Hello all! I come bearing a really beautiful thing today. This is the thing that came in the May box (sooo articulate…) for the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP subscription. May was also conveniently the month that sign-ups for current subscribers opened back up for the next round. You can sign up here, if this interests you, but I’ve decided not to re-sub. More on that later, but believe me, this month’s offering nearly made me sign up again. For this month, I received an 18-pan palette called Sexy Eye Palette. If it looks familiar, I have a similar palette called Melange de Colour Fashion Eye Palette, which retailed for $95, like the LMdB Kaleidoscopes. They’re pretty different, but someone on MakeupTalk.com found a Neiman Marcus GWP that looks a whole lot like the Sexy Eye Palette, but it was named Galore.

Too Cool for School Glam Rock Urban Shadows

Two of my purchases from Seoul were these Glam Rock Urban Shadows from Too Cool for School. I got a dirty olive in a satin finish (13 Viva Green) and a frosty light peach (3 Peach Glow). They are very easy colors to wear, apply, and pair together. The texture of the shadows is smooth, but not so soft and buttery that it goes all over the place. They crease on me without a primer, but so do all other eyeshadows, except for Ellis Faas Creamy Eyes.

Cutting down on baggage

Sometimes, I’m a total dimwit when it comes to packing my makeup, which is strange, since I’ve used makeup long enough to figure out what I use regularly and what I don’t. I brought way more than this when I went to Seoul, and I wish I didn’t, because this is honestly all I needed. I brought things like mascara and an eyelash curler, which I used maybe 2 days out of the 9 I was there. My Necessities for a Basic Face K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Liner in G101* — This is my absolute staple! When I sleep in accidentally and have no time for makeup, I just draw on my brows! Ellis Faas Concealer in S204* — I love this concealer more than my NARS one, I think. It’s less fussy and it doesn’t cake even after a long day out. Urban Decay Primer Potion — To make my eyeshadow long lasting! NARS And God Created the Woman Palette — I must admit, I brought along another palette …

MAKE Colour Post-Impressionism Palette

Hello, everyone, from this beautiful piece of beauty. (I mean the palette, obvs.) Where do I even begin? I mentioned it before, but I’ve been hankering for these palettes since the dawn of time (at least, in my beauty blog history anyway…) and I didn’t cave until now. I first saw Wiji with the Medieval Palette, which was on my original radar~ and then a long time after that, I saw Bea with the Celeste e Verde Palette. And I suppose I kicked into major KID MODE because all I could see in my brain after a couple of months was “GIMME GIMME GIMME.” Now, I think this is an achievement that I actually only got ONE palette, when I wanted all four of them—yes, even the one with 3 different tones of white. I had a primal attraction to this one, the Post-Impressionism Palette, and I’ve no idea why. Just kidding, I have a clue. This one only has two lip shades, whereas the other two have four and Aether has 1 lip shade …

Day to Night with Urban Decay Naked Basics & a Palette Comparison

The Urban Decay Naked Basics has been treated as though it was a savior of the eyeshadow world. It’s a 5-matte-1-satin neutral palette that works as a standalone palette or the perfect companion to either of the two über shimmery Naked palettes. The pigmentation is of excellent quality, as to be expected from Urban Decay. The colors are just a bit too light for my skin tone. I feel like it’s a bit uninspired, but that’s from someone who likes playing with makeup. If you’re looking for something that will give you a great neutral eye day after day, then this might be your best bet. Swatched, top: Crave. Swatched, L-R: Venus (satin), Foxy, W.O.S. or Walk of Shame, Naked 2, Faint The colors are gradations of a standard brown, and while this is completely usable, I’d love to have seen something more “exciting,” like the purple-toned Tease from the Naked 2 Palette. The other awesome thing about this palette is the overall portability of it. This is freaking small and handy, great for traveling, …

Color it Spring: A Quick Swatch Review of the Le Métier de Beauté’s Mélange de Colour Fashion Palette

OK, so where do I begin? This beauty is the Melange de Colour Fashion Palette by Le Métier de Beauté, and it is probably going to be the last eyeshadow buy for me in a long, long while (unless something remarkable comes out and I need to get it, stat). This was a palette I was going to pass up whilst on my makeup ban a few months ago. I was trying to pool together my ‘beauty budget’ for that trip to Japan that I ignored some of the later-announced Spring releases, and this was one of them. I came across a post by Emilie of the Cogitation Project, and of course I became obsessed with finding it. I looked at eBay but couldn’t afford the 50% markup + shipping + taxes, and then I resorted to the LMdB Facebook page, where an SA was saying they had a couple more left department store and could probably get one to whoever emails him/her. Of course I did, and after a few weeks of correspondence, it …
