FOTD: Hello, Rome

Hiya, I finally managed to take good photos of my makeup before it got too dark out! I’ve been feeling pretty bored and repetitive, so I ~tried~ to play with my eye makeup this time around. Still neutrals, though, but I cracked open my Makeup Revolution I Heart Chocolate palette* (a supposed dupe for the TooFaced Chocolate Bar palette) and tbh, I’m still quite impressed by it. Realized, too, that I haven’t posted any looks using this palette. Face & Cheeks Rediscovered my y.e.t. Cosmetics Fill It Up Primer… And I kind of don’t like how it ended up working with my makeup. My initial review of it was kind of glowing, lol. But maybe it’s the face oil I used. For this look, I used MAKE Soft Focus Foundation, powdered down with Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder. I used Kevyn Aucoin Sculpting Powder for my contour, and am wearing a beautiful MAC blush (!) called Breezy, which I got from Laura as a gift. 🙂 Eyes & Lips Eyebrows courtesy …

MAC Blush Palette 2016 Update

About two years and a few odd months ago, I hauled a sizable MAC purchase, which was kindly arranged for me by my friend Laura, who works there. I purchased the large/double palette with eyeshadow and blush inserts, along with three powder blushes that I never got around to adding to. Over the holidays, Laura sent me three more—out of the goodness of her heart—and it made me want to do a MAC Blush Palette update. Here’s what she picked out for me! MAC Powder Blush in Peachykeen, Breath of Plum & Breezy Swatched, L-R: Peachykeen, Breath of Plum, Breezy Peachykeen is a “very baby peach” sheertone shimmer blush. Breath of Plum is a “light plum” sheertone blush. Breezy is a “plum with pearl” sheertone shimmer blush. Not an expert on MAC blushes, but here’s a helpful guide I found at Nordstrom: FROST (F): Iridescent, lightly shimmering color. Adds highlights: provides a frosted ‘bloom’ to the cheeks. MATTE (M): Flat matte finish. Goes on lightly. Builds well. Blends with the skin. SATIN (S): Light-refractive sheen-style …

A(nother) Bunch of ColourPop Stuff

I think this is my last ColourPop update for now. I don’t really know what possessed me to try the blush and highlighters from the range… but here we are. I also picked up a stray eyeshadow and lipstick, which I figured I could just fit on over here instead of making a whole other separate post. I guess I’ll start with the Lippie Stix and the Super Shock Shadow, since they’re both items that I’ve previously tried in a different shade. Lippie Stix in Tootsi Tootsi is a “cool-toned grey beige (“greige”) in a matte finish” and is pretty similar to one of the the Ultra Matte Lips I bought called Trap. I don’t really know what to say about this—I like the matte lipsticks by ColourPop, though I maintain that they are not “true” mattes. In any case, I’ve been having fun with this shade, true matte or no. Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk I believe Central Perk was part of their fall collection. It’s a “dirty maroon in a matte finish,” …

April Favorites

April favorites time! I thought I didn’t have “enough,” but as you can see… I have quite a bit to share. I think it has to do with no favorite lip product, but I just didn’t love any one lip color enough this month to call it a favorite. As you can see in a bit, I had a really great eye makeup month. Skin Care Indie Lee Squalane Oil — Although I used some moisturizers here and there for the month of April, I relied heavily on this oil. I honestly don’t have any complaints about it. It’s sufficiently hydrating, doesn’t grease up (which counts for a lot when you live where I live), keeps my skin in check, and it doesn’t smell like anything. You know how products are called “unscented,” and it just means no perfume was added, so it still kind of smells like crap? This. Smells. Like. Nothing. A++++ repurchased forever. Cure Water Treatment Skin Cream* — This is essentially a GWP hand cream from Cure, but I feel like …

Le Métier de Beauté Blushing Bronzed Duet in Romeo and Juliet

Hey everyone! Do you like my DVD prop? No? Haha, I thought so. Today, I’ve got Le Métier de Beauté Blushing Bronzed Duet in Romeo & Juliet, which I got a couple of months ago via the LMdB Beauty Vault VIP subscription, the unboxing post is this-a-way. The awesome folks at LMdB actually sent me a replacement after my first compact arrived broken. Product Description Sublime blush meets the perfect bronze. The Blushing Bronzed Duet embraces the incomparable pairing of Le Métier de Beauté’s signature Radiance Powder Rouges and sheer, lightly pigmented bronzers, which have been individually heralded for their universally flattering and natural-looking tones. These beautiful and balanced combinations create the quintessential glow with ease and grace. These duets (duos?) retail for $65 each (!!!) for 0.49oz or 12.89g of product. I think the more popular, warmer shade is Traviata, but I am completely smitten with Romeo and Juliet, adding it to my list of favorites last month. Swatched, L-R: Romeo and Juliet blush, Romeo and Juliet bronzer, Romeo and Juliet blush and bronzer …

Sigma Powder Blush in Born To*

I’m not generally one to fawn over blushes—at a certain point, I’ve had to admit that most look similar on my skintone—but I’ve been liking the Sigma Powder Blush in Born To* even though I hadn’t expected a whole lot from it. Born To is such a pretty shade—a dusty mauve-y pink with fine silver specks. I’ve swatched it heavily, then blended out in the photo above. From my experience, Sigma blushes aren’t that pigment-packed in practice, but it does layer and build really nicely. I love pairing this blush with similar-toned lip products, since I think it helps bring out the tones of the blush. Powder blushes tend to fade really quickly on me, as my face tends to eat it up for some reason, but I like that this one comes in such a portable compact that’s easy to bring for touch-ups. Born To is such a pretty everyday shade, even if you’re not cool-toned, which is what I initially thought would suit this blush the best. It’s a really pretty all-around blush …
