3CE Lip Lacquer in Desert Flower

And another belated review for one of my fave lip products from my Korea trip… last year. I told you I’m running on an immense backlog, you guys. Anyway, here be the 3CE Lip Lacquer in Desert Flower. It’s essentially a liquid lipstick that semi-sets to a somewhat velvety texture. It packs a lot of punch! I’ve tried another color prior to Desert Flower, a loud neon pink called Pink Boom.*

FOTD: ColourPop Not a Box of Chocolates

I wanted to post a look using ColourPop’s Not a Box of Chocolates, which was a holiday release (sorry). I mainly wanted to show how they look and talk about how they apply. 🙂 So this is going to be a sort of short review, too. I used a matte shade, Doe-a-Deer, which they ended up making permanent and the other colors I used aren’t that hard to dupe anyway. Here’s the look: ColourPop’s Halo, Partridge, and Doe-a-Deer are the only eyeshadows I used for this look. I used the NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eye Base under everything, and a primer/base really helps the colors to pop more. ColourPop actually suggests you apply these shadows with your finger, to really pack on the pigment. I find that this absolutely makes a difference in how the colors apply. Basically, I patted on Halo on the inner 2/3 of the lid. It’s a pale, non-metallic gold with a little bit of sparkle. It’s a “Satin Luxe” finish, which means that it has a bit of shine, but it’s …

Eye Love 3CE!

I thought I’d go crazy over the eyeshadows at Stylenanda’s 3CE, but I ended up just getting two matte eyeshadows and one cream eyeshadow. I was looking at a shu uemura-style horizontal palette, but resisted the very, very strong urge to pick up yet another neutral palette. The two matte eyeshadow shades I picked up were Salmon Pink, a matte… salmon pink, and Tom Boy, a very dirty olive. Both are so gorgeous, despite looking quite boring. I think they would be perfect for understated editorial looks–much like the campaign materials of 3CE feat. Park Sora. I resisted the cream shadow selection, too, and only got a warm medium bronzey brown called Glamorous. It reminds me a lot of my favorite eyeshadow, shu uemura’s ME medium brown 885, only it’s a lot less red.

FOTD: Everyday Mauve

At times, I feel like I’ve been “uninspired” when it comes to makeup because I rarely ever do any fun looks anymore, with the exception of certain lip colors… but I realized that it doesn’t really matter because I will use my makeup the way I want to use it. If that means yielding boring FOTDs, then so be it! For the record, I really like this FOTD, so there’s that.

5 Product Face No. 8

Nature Republic By Flower Auto Eyebrow in 02 // NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Ginger // 3CE Cream Eyeshadow in Glamorous // ColourPop Lippie Stix in Lumière Yay! Another 5 Product Face. I had to get ready really quickly for a short get-together with my two best friends before saying farewell to Barby, who would be leaving for Chicago the day after. Here’s what I came up with:

Video: Korea Haul, 2014!

Finally. I asked if anyone wanted a video haul, and a few said sure, so now here we are. I actually filmed and edited an earlier version of this, but decided that the camera was too up in my grillz so I ended up re-shooting allll the footage, because it was just not working out. Anyway, this is a bit longer than I’d like my videos to be, but I find that I actually kind of really like it when hauls are kinda long. (Is that just me?) Enjoy, prs! Takashi Murakami's 727

Made-Up History: Takashi Murakami’s 727, 1996

A quick look based on Takashi Murakami’s 727, which features DOB as the main character of the piece. I’ve been intending to do this look for a while, but just never got around to it. Takashi Murakami is a Japanese artist who’s known for blurring the lines between “high” and “low” art, that is, fine and commercial art. He has exhibited in international venues (I saw this piece in a retrospective/special exhibit by the Brooklyn Museum many, many years ago) and is involved with many commercial projects such as special edition Louis Vuittons.
