MAC Marge’s Extra Ingredients Quad

Aside from the 3 blush pans, Laura also sent me an LE MAC quad from the Simpsons collection from a while back. She received it gratis, which explains the lack of special packaging, and said she thought it would be fun for me to try out. This one’s called Marge’s Extra Ingredients and has four colors: Harpooned Heart, Sexy PB & J, Beehive Blue, Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag. Harpooned Heart: light baby pink (Lustre) Sexy PB & J: mid-tone bright violet (Veluxe pearl) Beehive Blue: mid-tone bright blue (Veluxe Pearl) Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag: deep navy (Frost) FYR: lustre (smoothly pearlized; intensely frosted with deluxe ultrafine ‘conditioned’ finish), veluxe pearl (vibrantly toned. Velvety soft. Shimmeringly metallic. Veluxe eyeshadow, now overlaid with high-shine pearl), frost (an iridescent shine that adds a highlight to any color). Swatched, L-R: Harpooned Heart, Sexy PB and J, Beehive Blue, Vivacious Vacuum Cleaner Bag When I started getting into makeup, I was really drawn to purples (especially when it comes to eyeshadow), but I don’t wear that color that much anymore …

My Christmas Present to Myself: The RMS Beauty Round-Up

I have already lamented my weakness over at Twitter a few weeks ago, when I confessed to buying a selection of RMS Beauty items and blamed it on Black Friday. In truth, I have been drooling over these items for months and months, always relegating them for one reason or another to the “not right now” list. It was a mistake on my part, at least for some of them, because they are, quite frankly, amazing. RMS Beauty, one of the better known niche green beauty brands, has a handful of items in their product catalog. Some of the more famous and well-loved ones are the Living Luminizer ($38) and the “Un” Cover-Up ($36). They have a selection of color makeup items, some skin care and brushes, and most recently, a 6-free nail polish range. I went the safe route, and argued for “value.” I reasoned that getting the Glowing Gift Set was probably the best choice since it had the aforementioned best-sellers as well as your choice of Eye Polish (a cream-based eyeshadow; $28) …

A(nother) Bunch of ColourPop Stuff

I think this is my last ColourPop update for now. I don’t really know what possessed me to try the blush and highlighters from the range… but here we are. I also picked up a stray eyeshadow and lipstick, which I figured I could just fit on over here instead of making a whole other separate post. I guess I’ll start with the Lippie Stix and the Super Shock Shadow, since they’re both items that I’ve previously tried in a different shade. Lippie Stix in Tootsi Tootsi is a “cool-toned grey beige (“greige”) in a matte finish” and is pretty similar to one of the the Ultra Matte Lips I bought called Trap. I don’t really know what to say about this—I like the matte lipsticks by ColourPop, though I maintain that they are not “true” mattes. In any case, I’ve been having fun with this shade, true matte or no. Super Shock Shadow in Central Perk I believe Central Perk was part of their fall collection. It’s a “dirty maroon in a matte finish,” …

Gone Forever: ColourPop Fetch, Please!

As you have probably surmised from the number of items on this post, I’ve failed my 12-item purchase limit for 2015. Now, I pretty much cut it down to 80% of what I probably would’ve bought had I not imposed my limit, so I’m not too bothered by it. Anyway, the title of this series is “Gone Forever” which basically means that I’ve decided to be an asshat and post about items that are… gone forever. The item in question for this post is ColourPop Fetch, Please! which is one of their earliest collections, a collaboration with actress Isabelle Fuhrman. It’s nowhere to be found on their website, but here’s an interview about the collection. Fetch, Please! is comprised of 6 items: 2 split-pan pots (one’s pressed pigments, the other’s regular eyeshadow), a Super Shock Shadow, and 3 matte Lippie Stix (this name needs to die). To be honest, I bought this set just because it was on sale and I was buying a thing—more on this later—and wanted to save on shipping. I’ve already …

K-Palette Essence in ShadowLiner*

As you all know (if you’ve been reading my lil ol’ blog for a while), I’m a total slave for K-Palette eyebrow/eyeliner products. Imagine my glee when I received this package—an eyeshadow/eyeliner hybrid called the K-Palette Essence in ShadowLiner*—right before I left for a trip. It’s similar to the dual-ended eyebrow markers that K-Palette makes with a brush-tip on one end and a powder product on the other end. In this case, it’s eyeliner instead of brow marker opposite eyeshadow and a sponge-tip applicator coupled with a spring mechanism. Brush pen liner tip. Eyeshadow/powder sponge tip. I received four colors: the eyeliner in black and varying depths of brown, and shimmery neutral eyeshadow shades. 01 black x brown | 02 brown black x camel brown | 03 deep brown x nude beige | 04 pink brown x nude pink I tried them out on my eyes, sans primer and eyebrow anything. Sorry for the horror. Anyway, look: If you’re low maintenance, these are amazing products to bring on for trips. I brought 01 and 02 …

Beauty Inspo: One Direction

Yup, you read that right. My One Direction obsession has leaked into my heart makeup life. Well, as far as the two gifs in this post are concerned anyway. Look 1 Let’s start with the obvious beaut, ex-member Zayn Malik: (source) I mean, I had a really hard time trying to think of an eyeshadow that would match how gloriously slick and shiny (um, lol) the stuff on his eyelids is. And even then, I failed. See, most of the ones I had in mind that could possibly pass as a “dupe” in terms of shade are a little on the frosty side. Anyway, I think this is actually something like vaseline or a lip gloss, to be honest. I ended up reaching for Shiro Cosmetics’ Baker’s Boy (from the Hunger Games collection) patted on a clear primer + eyeliner: concealer: Ellis Faas (S204)*, powder: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Ethereal Light), eyeliner: K-Palette liquid liner (black)* and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Crave), blush: Kjaer Weis (Abundance), lipstick: MAKE Matte Lipstick (Jakarta) A true …

Bits from Makeup Revolution

I’ve been hearing about Makeup Revolution a lot, when I come across dupe posts, particularly those for the Urban Decay Naked palettes. They’re known for excellent eyeshadow quality, even as a budget brand, so I was thrilled to find out that they would be available here soon. I Heart Makeup Wonder Palette I Heart Chocolate* Since I have/have tried the UD Naked palettes, I decided to give the I Heart Makeup Wonder Palette in I Heart Chocolate* (Php 890) a shot. A long time ago, I mentioned that I had wanted to try Too Faced’s Chocolate Bar Palette, so when I read that this was a pretty spot-on dupe, I knew I had to go for this. The packaging is a little big and clunky, but it’s cute in a kitschy way. Swatches Swatched, L-R: (first row) You Need Love, Piece Me Together, One More Piece, Love Torn, Stolen Chocolate, (second row) Thank Friday, More!, Pleasure Girl, Meet Chocolate, Unforgivable, Love Divine Swatched, L-R: (third/last row) Smooth Criminal, Chocolate Love, You Need More, What a …
