Nosy Beauty Vol. 9: Pam

Welcome to Nosy Beauty, a series I made up so I can creep on other people’s makeup bags and the things inside them. For this week, I have Pam, who I met on LiveJournal. 🙂 She currently works for a library as she works towards a degree in marketing. Pam loves “makeup, blogging (when I get the time), social media, exercising, and spending time with my boyfriend.” “I’m Pam, I blog over at TheMacGirl and GeekToFit. I don’t like using makeup to hide my flaws, instead I try to find ways to bring out my best features. I typically try to look natural and have a pop of color somewhere; usually on my lips and/or cheeks.” My Daily Staples “My entire makeup routine changed drastically early last year because I lost some weight and gained my self confidence back. I didn’t wear much makeup before and I felt it was time for some change. So instead of rewarding myself with food, I rewarded myself with nail polishes and makeup. Ultimately, I created a different kind …

Empties No. 1

Hello everyone! This is my first empties post, and it’s quite sizeable. It’s mostly skin care and bath stuff, though, so if you are looking for makeup empties, feel free to skip on this! — Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: It was time to throw it out as I stretched it to 6 months, like a Josie Gross-y. I really liked this mascara, but I won’t be repurchasing as it’s not cruelty-free. — Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer: Throwing it out because it has become too tacky for me to work with. I won’t be repurchasing as I prefer other eye primers.

Addiction by Ayako Eyeshadow in Safari Mode

Ah, the last Addiction eyeshadow in my possession to be reviewed: Safari Mode. This is the most gorgeous muted khaki I have ever laid my eyes on. Unlike the greens in NARS’ Paramaribo, this comes off a lot less golden. Still, it has a beautiful sheen. It’s a shade that’s beautiful when worn alone, but also looks lovely fading into a neutral base. It’s a great alternative to common browns, beiges, champagnes if you want to venture out into the world of color but don’t think you can wear blues or pinks yet. It’s also a great companion to both cool and warm tones, I think, because it’s just so… agreeable. The texture, as is usual with Addiction, is phenomenal. Safari Mode is on the outer half of the mobile lid, as well as the inner third of the lower lash line. The darker green is NARS’ Night Clubbing, another beautiful deeper green. My Addiction singles count is currently at 5, and I currently have three quads. I would love to buy more (one way …

Quickie: Addiction by Ayako Eyeshadow in Sandbar

This is one of the last dregs of my Addiction “haul” (eee, bad word) from last month. It’s a pretty neutral eyeshadow called Sandbar. The website says that it has a “pearl finish,” but like Belly mentioned in this post, Addiction’s pearl finish eyeshadows have the most inconsistent textures. It’s a beautiful pale pinky peach shade that translates more neutral on my skin tone. It’s rather pretty, though quite understated, but it’s the kind of shade that you can throw on your eyes, add a bit of liner or mascara and then leave the house. In other words, it’s perfect for a lazy bum like me. (!) It really does have a beautiful pearly sheen to it, unlike Deep Forest which is also described as a pearl but seems mostly gritty to me. I have one more single eyeshadow in my stash, which I’m reviewing later this week. I really want more because these are amazingly textured, though the steep price really shows the cost of quality. Still, if you’re on the look-out for a …

Quickie: Make Up Store Lipstick in Redwood

I don’t have a lot of nude lipsticks because I feel like they wash me out, but this Make Up Store Lipstick in Redwood is strangely a great pale pinky nude lipstick for me. At first I didn’t want to wear it a lot because I felt like it was too light but it turns out, I just have to get a bit used to it. It actually has some mauve-y quality to it, but it’s definitely more pink than mauve or lavender on the lips. I think it’s a great companion for bolder eye looks like a good ol’ smoky eye or something that makes use of brights like this one using Addiction’s Deep Forest: The texture is pretty great. It’s a “creme” finish and glides on nicely. Comparatively, it feels a lot like the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipsticks, or the MAC Creamsheens, but it doesn’t apply patchily as I find the Creamsheens do. It’s definitely not weightless, but it isn’t heavy either. Weirdly, this is how it looks like on the Make Up …

Stash Shopping No. 2

A second week shopping my stash! This is done in an attempt to survey my current makeup babies, instead of looking for more things to buy. Shall we begin? These are the new color cosmetics I decided to focus on this week. I still have a few items in my S.S. box from my Project 10 Pan that I included in last week’s “haul,” like Benefit’s Lemon Aid and the lip products. The new additions: Clockwise from top left: Revlon ColorStay Mineral Blush in Roseberry, bareMinerals Eye Color in Hyacinth, Shiro Cosmetics eyeshadow in Rebellion, MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque, bareMinerals READY 8.0 in The Cocktail Hour, MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy, BECCA Beach Tint in Guava, and Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie I wanted to use a bit more color, as well as try my hand at a pretty navy eye this week. This is my face using some of the products here! I was in a hurry to step out, so I swiped random quick products. I didn’t even use bases …

Drugstore Finds: Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Peachy Scene*

Here’s a quick look at the Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Peachy Scene* which I got from a BDJ Box a few months ago. The bullet will tell you how much I don’t use it. The color is actually really pretty, it’s just that the scent is quite overwhelming and the frost finish doesn’t help this lipstick’s case. Here are a couple of swatches. Peachy Scene is in between YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in Rose in Tension and MAC’s Betty Bright, from the Archie’s Girls collection. Rose in Tension is much darker and obviously rosier, whereas Betty Bright is a little lighter, pinker, and a ton brighter. I can’t say I’ll miss this from my collection, honestly. Because as lovely as the color is, I can’t get past the smell. It smells like vanilla frosting, which sounds amazing, I know, but I don’t like makeup that smells like baked goods. It doesn’t smell like your typical vanilla smell from MAC. Like, it smells like the baked good you’d use the vanilla for. LOL. Does that make …
