Empties No. 1

Hello everyone! This is my first empties post, and it’s quite sizeable. It’s mostly skin care and bath stuff, though, so if you are looking for makeup empties, feel free to skip on this!

Empties - Mascara Prime TIme

— Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: It was time to throw it out as I stretched it to 6 months, like a Josie Gross-y. I really liked this mascara, but I won’t be repurchasing as it’s not cruelty-free.

— Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer: Throwing it out because it has become too tacky for me to work with. I won’t be repurchasing as I prefer other eye primers.

MM Lash Expander

— Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus 12: loved this a lot, but much prefer the Lash King. Will not repurchase.

Empties - Face
— St. Ives Cleanser: Used this to clean my brushes, but I won’t be repurchasing as they are no longer cruelty-free.
— Laneige Eye and Lip Makeup Remover: The best eye-specific makeup remover I’ve encountered! Will repurchase as Laneige (and its parent company, Amore Pacific) has recently ceased to test on animals. YAY!
— Snoe Beauty It’s Oat-K! It’s Alright!: Still undecided if I will repurchase. It’s really good, though, and (reportedly) cruelty-free.

Korres - Milk Wipes
— Korres Milk Proteins Cleansing & Makeup Removing Wipes: Won’t be repurchasing as I’m not happy with it (it was so-so; it felt like alcohol), and it’s no longer cruelty-free.

Empties 2

— Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub: Very effective, but will not repurchase as Neutrogena is not cruelty-free.

— Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating Cooling Toner: Also very effective, but will not repurchase as Neutrogena is not cruelty-free.

Pevonia Samples

— Pevonia Phyto-Gel Cleanser & Pevonia Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser: Both are okay and gentle, but not special enough for me to buy the full sizes because this is a weirdly expensive brand. No breakouts or marked improvements.

— L’Oreal EverStrong Shampoo & Conditioner (green variant): Thought about switching to other CF shampoos and conditioners, but using anything other than these made my scalp itch like crazy. Anything else I use now sucks, so I’m torn because L’Oreal is definitely not cruelty-free. I can actually do without the conditioner (see below), but the shampoo, I’m having a hard time parting with as I do not want an itchy scalp forever.

Empties - Bath

— Organix Macadamia Nut Oil Conditioner: Already repurchased. Best conditioner I’ve used for my hair and its tangles. Plus, it is cruelty-free.

— Marks & Spencer Sweet Fig Moisturizing Shower Cream: Got this as a gift, works just as well as other kinds of body wash. Will not (re?)purchase as it’s too expensive for a body wash.

— Ivory Body Wash in Aloe: My faaaave. I have four empty bottles of this thing. I will check if Ivory is cruelty-free—and it probably isn’t, sob—but currently, I am using up my LUSH Grass Shower Gel.

LUSH empties

— LUSH Northern Lights: Limited edition so I cannot repurchase even if I wanted to.

— LUSH Sandy Santa: Limited edition so I cannot repurchase, either. It made me realize that I love sugar scrubs, though, as the granules dissolve, so I can’t wait to see if they will re-release this this holiday.

— LUSH Ultrabland Cleanser: This is an almost-empty. I probably have 1 or 2 uses still. Quite effective, not sure if I love it because I feel like its more trouble than convenience, so I’m undecided about a repurchase.

Empties - Mario Badescu, Bifesta, Laneige

— Mario Badescu AHA Botanical Body Soap: I love this stuff. It smells so clean and fresh. I got it as a sample from Beauty Bay, and am still undecided about a purchase. While I love it a lot, it still requires me to buy it online and I think that’s a little too extreme a gesture for body soap.

— Bifesta Cleansing Lotion*: I like it a lot; not sure if I love it enough to repurchase it. It’s gentle and doesn’t sting my eye, but it doesn’t take off all of my eye makeup, and I’m not sure if it’s cruelty-free.

— Laneige Oil-Free Cleansing Liquid: Sample-size again, quite liked this. I think in terms of makeup removal, it can compete with shu uemura’s cleansing oil. I’m not sure I am ready to part with shu uemura, though, but this is a nice alternative to that.

And that is the end of this empties post! I hope you enjoyed it and I hope it helped you out even a little. I rotate a lot of my products so I usually don’t come across makeup empties, but I’ll try to be more deliberate when it comes to my Project 10 Pan.

I hope you have a wonderful day!

    • I don’t go by expiration dates! Haha I have this awful habit of rotating my products which is why it took me this long to compose an empties post. Once I set an item as “to be finished,” it got better. Also, these are mostly things I use everyday anyway.

  1. Tina says

I was supposed to do this semi-annually, but I’m not comfortable keeping empty bottles. Hahahaha! Good job 🙂

  2. Woot! Laneige is now cruelty-free? I’ve been holding off buying stuff from them because they weren’t cruelty-free before. This is great news!!

  3. Wait, don’t we have Mario Badescu at Rustan’s? I’m so jealous of your empties list. Mine’s measly. Haha.

  4. lush usually has those products every holiday, so maybe you can repurchase then? Fingers crossed anyway. Ugh my scalp is SO itchy. I may try that shampoo! I also like the organix line. 🙂

    • I found that my scalp first started itching with that LUSH shower gel. I know it’s for the body, but I read that it could be used for hair, too. Anyway, it just made it itch and IDK how to remedy this because it lessened with the Organix shampoo/conditioner, but still itches occasionally. It’s so annoying!
