FOTD: MAKE Soft Focus Foundation and LMdB’s After Dark Kaleidoscope

It’s the last day of January and I’m kind of really excited to say that I haven’t purchased any new makeup! In fact, I’ve been enjoying some of the spoils of my US trip on the last quarter of last year. I remembered that I wanted to use the MAKE Soft Focus Foundation a lot in January and February, so I reached for it when I put on makeup on this particular day.

FOTD: Basic Face

My friend Chard’s tweet was about how it was sad that “basic” is now used to mean something negative, and I agree! I, for one, tend to go for mostly basics when it comes to clothes, and though I love colors in my make-up, I tend to reach for my basics the most. Anyway, here’s a basic face for ya. I had to do office stuff + bank stuff, so I obviously wasn’t going to wear vampy~ lips or a smoky eye. Haha. I mean, I could have, but I didn’t. So there.

4 Skin Care Items I’ve Been Enjoying Lately

I have a bad habit of toying around with my skin care quite a bit, but along with my mainstays (Human Nature Nourishing Facial Wash, Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque, some type of scrub), I’ve been using these bits quite a lot in the past month or so and enjoying them quite a lot. LUSH TEA TREE WATER I’ve mentioned this before and it is just a really great spray to follow up cleansing with. Tea Tree Water is one of the main ingredients of this toner water. It’s made by “dispersing the essential oil in water,” and is included because of its clarifying and antibacterial properties. I quite like this, even though it’s meant for oily or spot-prone skin—I notice a big difference in the clarity of my skin. And we all want that! LE MÉTIER DE BEAUTÉ DAILY REFRESH TONIC This is something I received in the Beauty Vault VIP Subscription, and it is basically something you use to prep the skin to “receive topical restorative treatments” such as creams, moisturizers, serums, etc, …

The Nose Knows

Until quite recently, I hadn’t been particular about perfumes and colognes since I was in high school. I started wearing scents regularly when I was in the fourth or fifth grade, with my choices being increasingly masculine until I began wearing more feminine and fresh scents in high school. I suppose, it felt like sort of a ritual, a part of my everyday routine. It fell by the wayside when I had a jumbled up schedule in college. All of a sudden, I was always just scrambling to try and get to school on time. LOL I actually finished off a bottle of Davidoff Cool Water in the fifth grade. Does anybody remember this scent? I wore this WAY before Sawyer did, though. Recently, I’ve been trying to get back into wearing scents. For some reason—I’m not really sure what, but I’ve been gravitating towards certain smells. Here is a rundown of my favorites lately: Diptyque Vetyverio — I fell in love with this scent while browsing Diptyque. I was originally looking for the rose …

Quick Summer Skin Care Routine

Here’s my super stripped-down Summer Skin Care Routine, when I’m feeling lazy. Which is to say these are non-negotiables following the mantra of the skin-care conscious: cleanse, tone, moisturize. The skin care “essentials” have evolved since then, involving eye creams, essences, serums, and whatever else people cook up, but this is what I’m going with. CLEANSE My facial wash of choice is the Human Nature Nourishing Facial Wash, which is for normal or sensitive skin. I’m on my second bottle. I used to use the Moisturizing one (with moringa extract, I think) for dry skin, and that worked better for me, but it smelled like crap, so I’m on this one. And it works well enough! TONE My toner du jour! Or of the past few weeks. I love this stuff. It’s magical. Ahem. The LUSH Tea Tree Water is something I’ve been going back and forth on purchasing until I finally gave in and got it. I had a breakdown in LUSH because I didn’t want to buy anymore makeup. LOL, my logic. It …

Make That Face: Everyday Look with 3 Lip Options

I’ve been using the TONYMOLY Backstge Gel Liner on and off for the past few weeks, and I thought of a great way to use it for three different looks that’s “everyday-friendly,” just by changing up the lip color. Obviously, what you wear from day-to-day is up to you, but if you have a strict work environment or something, this is a good and easy makeup look to try. 🙂 EYES: Okay, this look is so easy that calling this a “tutorial” is kind of pointless. So don’t knife me, okay? Apply LUSH Cream Shadow in Sophisticated all over the lid, blending the color out a little bit past the crease. Add TONYMOLY Backstage Gel Liner in #11 Diva Gray* to upper lash line. Curl lashes. AND THAT’S IT FOR THE EYE MAKEUP. I have these two awesome products to thank because they are perfect for lazy people like me who still want to look nice. Okay, now for the rest of the makeup. I’ll list the products that I used that aren’t lip products. …

Stash Shopping No. 3

Hey everyone! Here’s another edition of Stash Shopping, which is when I look over my current collection and commit to use some selected items for an entire week. I’m on my third week, and it’s been fun. I actually asked the last time if you wanted to see some looks I wore using the selected items and received a mostly favorable response, so before I get into this week’s “haulage,” let me share some looks I made the past week, mostly using the bareMinerals READY 8.0 Eyeshadow Palette in The Cocktail Hour (reviewed here): Just a disclaimer, I work as a freelance writer and graphic designer, so I don’t wear makeup everyday. 🙂 For this first look, I used the coral (Spiked), the taupe-y color (Invite Only), and the purple (Swanky), in that order from the inner corner all the way across the lid. I wore this to a meeting and some errands. I used the Revlon Mineral Blush (Roseberry), and the Maybelline Lipstick (Chestnut) that was also in the box, but I topped it …
