Beauty Inspo: One Direction

Yup, you read that right. My One Direction obsession has leaked into my heart makeup life. Well, as far as the two gifs in this post are concerned anyway. Look 1 Let’s start with the obvious beaut, ex-member Zayn Malik: (source) I mean, I had a really hard time trying to think of an eyeshadow that would match how gloriously slick and shiny (um, lol) the stuff on his eyelids is. And even then, I failed. See, most of the ones I had in mind that could possibly pass as a “dupe” in terms of shade are a little on the frosty side. Anyway, I think this is actually something like vaseline or a lip gloss, to be honest. I ended up reaching for Shiro Cosmetics’ Baker’s Boy (from the Hunger Games collection) patted on a clear primer + eyeliner: concealer: Ellis Faas (S204)*, powder: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Ethereal Light), eyeliner: K-Palette liquid liner (black)* and Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil (Crave), blush: Kjaer Weis (Abundance), lipstick: MAKE Matte Lipstick (Jakarta) A true …

Main May Fave: LMdB Sexy Eye Palette

I just wanted to share a few looks from the Le Métier de Beauté Sexy Eye Palette, which I got last month from the BVVIP box. I liked it when I got it but I didn’t predict that I would be using it pretty exclusively for the next month. I think you guys might be able to tell that I haven’t been too active on here, but this palette is what, as children are wont to say these days, “gives me life.” Ha. Anyway, I really like it and it’s making me wear color!

Harry Potter Week: Spellbound

Okay, so for Harry Potter Week, I was thinking of things I could do instead of doing House- or Character-inspired looks, which I think tend to be more common when it comes to Harry Potter and beauty crossovers. I ended up thinking of making looks inspired by spells and charms! I picked 3 that have a distinct visual effect about them that are also widely used in in Rowling’s magical world, at least in Harry Potter’s timeline. Look 1: The Patronus Charm “This ancient and mysterious charm conjures a magical guardian, a projection of all your most positive feelings. The Patronus Charm is difficult, and many witches and wizards are unable to produce a full, corporeal Patronus, a guardian which generally takes the shape of the animal with whom they share the deepest affinity. You may suspect, but you will never truly know what form your Patronus will take until you succeed in conjuring it.”Miranda Goshawk

One Week And God Created the Woman: 5 (More) Looks

I’ve had this palette for a while, but I’m still astounded by how many combinations I can get out of it, given that it only has six shades. I think that’s a true mark of value. Everyone knows there’s always that one pesky shade in a palette that you can’t seem to use. With NARS And God Created the Woman, all the shades are useful, even as multi-purpose products when you’re in a pinch. I use Belissima and Coconut Grove to mix when I need to make eyebrow touch-ups. DAY ONE Shades used: Alhambra, Belissima, and Galapagos After 7 hours of wear in the summer heat. BLAH! I may feel like shit, but my eyeshadow still looks gewd. I think so anyway. Btw, this is the makeup I was wearing on my Twitter profile picture! Rest of the Makeup: Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger), Le Métier de Beauté Eye Brightening and Setting Powder (Refresh), bareMinerals Original Loose Powder Foundation (Medium Beige), K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow 24H (02), The Body Shop Brow …

BNT Girls Collaboration: SNSD Mr Mr Makeup (Seohyun)

Before my batch of BNT Girls (possibly) disbands, we thought we’d cook up a makeup collaboration featuring looks from SNSD/Girls Generation’s new video for the song, Mr Mr! You can watch the video here: We each picked a girl who wore a makeup look we wanted to recreate! I’m not sure what time the other girls are planning to post their looks, so I’ll just add the links as they come. 🙂 Anyway, I did this look back when I still had long hair! I was picking between Yuri and Seohyun, but Seohyun had the look I wanted to recreate the most: (It took me a while to remember their names, haha. I’m not a big fan of K-Pop, but that’s only because I don’t know where to start. But that’s another story.) I never would have thought to pair purple eye makeup with a red lip; that just seems to cross over to super bold territory for me. Still, I persevered.

One-Shadow Eye Looks

For the lazy bones in you! Each look featured here was made using just one eyeshadow. I was going to make a tutorial… but that would be pointless. Just follow the one-step directions and you’ll be fine! SMOKY EYE — I used Le Métier de Beauté’s Alexandrite, and you can see the tutorial here. WASH & WEAR — Here’s a look that’s pretty similar as well, but you kind of just pat down a shade all over the mobile lid and hope for the best. Using shu uemura’s ME medium brown 885, aka my favorite eyeshadow: Using OCC’s Loose Colour Concentrate in Hum: Using MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque, a rose gold cream shadow: Using Rouge Bunny Rouge Eyeshadow in Solstice Halcyon, a light almost imperceptible neutral taupe: QUICK LICKS — a lick of shadow, a lick of eyeliner, a lick of mascara, and you’re done. This is great for pairing with a bold red lip. Using Bootycall from the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette + liquid eyeliner + mascara on top and bottom lashes. …

1 Quad, 6 Looks: bareMinerals’ The Happy Place

A duo’s a challenge to play around with, but a quad is a riot. One of my favorite ones is bareMinerals’ The Happy Place, which came out as part of their Supernatural Collection (I think). I saw the coral, the aubergine, the mushroom grey, and I thought, “I have to have that.” Nearly a year later, and I have no regrets! I chose this palette because it seems a bit hard to use. I know that people have been warned against pinky shades for the eyes, to avoid the inevitable pink-eye effect. However, this pink, I think, is quite special, and it comes with pretty colors that go well with it. Watch the video for the looks, and a small tutorial at the end! Let me know if this is something you are keen on seeing more of. I kind of really enjoy it, though filming is a little harder because I don’t like wasting makeup and these looks were mostly worn out of the house (the first three were taken on two separate vacations). …
