Light up your face with Benefit’s Watt’s Up!

I’d been eyeing the numerous highlighters from Benefit but couldn’t really decide on any (High Beam? Moon Beam?) just because I didn’t feel too keen on using a liquid formula. Last year, they released a cream-to-powder highlighter called Watt’s Up! Our soft focus highlighter turns on “watt” ya got with a delicate champagne glow that’s gorgeous. With a cream-to-powder finish… it’s a switch on “wow” for all complexions. You’ll adore the smooth applicator & luminous sheen. As you can see, the packaging is darling (as is the copy), which is typical for Benefit products. This one’s particularly charming, though. ❤ I love it for that already. It’s a lavender chrome geometric pretty little thing that has a cap up top (to protect the product) and a sponge-tip blender at the bottom. I actually thought that you turned the angular side to dispense the product through the sponge tip, but it opens up like this… Et voilà! What I thought was a twisty thingy is a cap! I swear, I cranked this thing so much expecting …

FOTD: Plum Chocolate

My Face of the Day for today, but after about six hours of wear, because that was the only time I thought to take photographs. I used just a few products (which I will post a picture of below). Even though the makeup’s slightly faded, I think you can still kind of see where I wanted to go with it. I used the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes (review and swatches here). After priming my lids with Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer, I started with colors! In terms of “simple diagramming,” I used a light taupe-y color as a lid wash (Sable), a dark chocolate brown for the outer “v” (Chocolate), and a bit of a lavender grey (Plum Smoke) on the outer crease. A light matte cream (Vanilla Nuts) was used for a highlight on the browbones. I don’t usually use eyeliner, so as you can see I fudged up on one eye! But, in case you care, I used K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner, which is awesome for people who suck …

Bloom’s Secret Weapon: Concealer Kit (Fair/Medium)

To be honest, I don’t really know what compelled me to pick up this Concealer Kit by Bloom, called Secret Weapon. I couldn’t be bothered to “conceal” until a few months ago when my sister introduced me to K-Palette’s concealer, and since it worked so well, I didn’t see the need to buy this. However, I think you can see the possible reason why I picked this up. This nifty little kit has three concealer colors (Fair, Light Medium), 2 correctors (green & yellow), and an illuminator. These come in a credit-card sized “tray” with a plastic sliding cover and a (pretty useless) brush. I was so excited to use this and photograph its pristine newness, but the plastic-y lining that protected the pans dipped into the two bigger pans and I was left with this creamy mess: Oh well. The card/cover flips over to reveal a nifty little “instruction” card, corresponding to each of the shades and their specific uses. I think the right shades have been interchanged, though, as the top right pan …

Christmas Tag & Post-Christmas Loot

Hello, everyone! I didn’t plan on taking a holiday break, but it seems that I may have needed the break anyway. Here’s a bunch of items I picked up on a post-Christmas trip to Beauty Bar. 🙂 Most of them are things I “need”—if you notice, I don’t have many “color” picks. Clockwise from top left: K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow Liner (01), K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner (Waterproof, Super Black), Smashbox The Nude Lip Liner (Light), K-Palette 0 Kuma Cover Control Concealer (02 Yellow Beige) since I keep borrowing my sister’s, Bloom Secret Weapon Concealer Kit (Fair/Medium), Smashbox Image Factory Air Blush Whipped Cheek Color (Dusty Rose). For the record, I am in love with 4/6 items. The other two, I haven’t tested yet, so I’m pretty happy with my loot. Here’s a late Christmas tag by Shari of The Misty Mom! What’s your favourite thing about Christmas? Like I said above, my favorite has got to be the reunions, get-togethers, dinners and parties with friends and family members whom I haven’t seen in …

Pretty in Pink: Le Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact in Gemma

Once upon a time, I splurged and bought three lip products from Guerlain in one fell swoop. Rustan’s was on a one-day only 30% off sale and I knew I had to just jump at the chance. And so I came home with a Le Rouge G de Guerlain, a Terracotta gloss, and a Rouge G L’Extrait, which I reviewed here. After testing all of these products out, my only regret is that I didn’t grab more stuff. I know that sounds excessive, but these are mighty expensive (due to a price markup) and getting them on sale is a wondrous thing. The Rouge G de Guerlain Jewel Lipstick Compact is: A jewel lipstick compact with a white-gold shimmer designed by Lorenz Bäumer, the young and talented jeweler in Place Vendôme. A horizontal design with feminine curves that houses a secret: a mirror automatically appears when the compact is opened. The lipstick has a purely elegant, contemporary design and closes magnetically. This exceptional object boasts a comprehensive, premium formula containing a star ingredient: ruby powder, …

Make That Face: Inspired by Kstew’s Red Carpet Look for the Breaking Dawn: Part 2 Premiere in LA

My sister asked me recreate this look months ago but I’ve only gotten around to it now. Kristen Stewart wore this face to the LA premiere of Breaking Dawn: Part 2, and my sister loved it to bits. Now, obviously, I am not that good at eyeshadows yet but I decided to give it a shot anyway since it looks like it could be a great holiday look. Here’s what I came up with: What do you think? 🙂 I sadly don’t have a step-by-step as I did this “on the fly.” I’ll explain the “procedure” here, but if you want a picture of the products I used, scroll down. Apply BB Cream all over the face, going over the eyelids. Use the darker shade of The Body Shop’s Brow & Liner Kit (02) and fill in the brows. I filled mine in more than I usually do. Use a clean spoolie to groom your brows. Pat on MAC Paint Pot (Rubenesque) all over the lid until just below the crease. Use a caramel brown …

My Early Christmas Gift: Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette For Eyes

Merry Christmas to me! I accompanied Sarie on a quick Christmas shopping trip to the malls (i.e. the Ayala cluster) and decided to do a bit of my own shopping. I am nearly finished with my list, but I picked up a few things myself. One of the items I picked out was Laura Mercier’s Artist’s Palette for Eyes, which I had seen on Glitter Geek and Getting Cheeky. When I got there, the SA said that this was the last palette they had, so obviously I had to go get it. The Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes is a 12-shadow palette with six matte, two satin, and four luster eye colors. They are shades especially selected by Laura Mercier, if I remember correctly. Some shades are available for individual purchase. The palette comes in a pretty faux snakeskin padded “wallet” of sorts, with a rather large mirror, and a magnetic enclosure. It’s quite thick, but it’s shorter than my Nude ‘Tude palette, which I have a bit of trouble bringing around because it …
