Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP March 2015

I actually got this up on time, ish! Go me. If you’re new, the Beauty Vault VIP is an annual beauty subscription by Le Métier de Beauté that’s on its second year. Each month’s box “costs” about $30, which is a pretty good deal considering LMdB’s usual price point which, let’s face it, is sky-high. I haven’t bought any new makeup items this year (so far), and I think my desire for new makeup is curbed in part by these monthly arrivals. 🙂 I’m pretty happy with the March box, which is a set of what looks like to be one Lip Crème and one Sheer Brilliance Lip Gloss. I am a fan of both, so I’m on board this train. It’s been met with lukewarm reviews, from the BVVIP forum I frequent, and though I’ve yet to wear these shades in particular, both of these lip gloss formulas are two of the few I do like anyway.

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP December 2014

Le Métier de Beauté is a bout just as good as it gets when it comes to eyeshadow formulas. For the December box of their Beauty Vault VIP subscription, they sent out two exclusive VIP program eyeshadows in nameless shades described as “Deep Emerald Green” and “Shimmery Sand-White,” a festive selection for the holidays. I always appreciate it when I get eyeshadows from LMdB, simply because they make some of the best that I’ve tried. They are triple-milled, which is perfect for layering and blending together. Some of the shades I own have questionable pigmentation (especially the dark mattes like Noir), but the formula is perfect for building up the color and blending with other shadows without looking muddy. The Shimmery Sand-White shade can go on a little bit thick/chunky, so a light hand is probably all you’d need with this. The Dark Emerald Green is so beautiful and iridescent. It reminds me of beetles, for some reason. Blended together, you get a silver shade that has a slight green undertone. I’m looking forward to …

Unboxing: BDJ Box for November 2014 (Benefit exclusive)

The day I got back from Seoul, I was surprised to see a very welcome blue box that I’ve been accustomed to expect BDJ Boxes hiding within. I was correct! Thank you to the BDJ Team for always thinking of me. 🙂 I really, really appreciate it, especially because I think I’ve witnessed a real substantial growth of the company as a really supreme sub box service. The November 2014 BDJ Box* is a Benefit exclusive, which means that all of the products from the box are from Benefit Cosmetics. There have been quite a few Benefit exclusives, and of the two I’ve received so far, I think I like this one more! The box is an “early Christmas gift” from BDJ Box—a selection of items from Benefit’s Sweet Shoppe! There is a mix of skin care, makeup items designed to bring out your natural beauty, and end-of-the-day sloughing off of products. There is even a body oil mist—something I’ve never tried from the brand.

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP September and October 2014

I’ve been running behind on unboxing posts for the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP, a monthly subscription box for the brand. (Not that anyone looks forward to these, amirite?) They are on their second year of the program, and I’ve got to admit that it just keeps getting better! For a subscription program that requires subscribers to pay upfront for the entire year, expectations are understandably high. Luckily, we’ve been getting awesome products (see other unboxing posts here), the only hitch being their sometimes slow and inadequate responses to customer service queries. For September, the second month of the sub as shipments start getting mailed out in August, the product is the Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Complexe, a tinted base that provides “sheer natural-looking coverage for instant smoothing and perfecting.” It can be used as a standalone (very sheer!) foundation or as a luminous base under other foundations.

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP August 2014

Hi everyone! I’m not sure if anyone noticed (since I’ve queued up a few posts), but I’ve been in the USA since the 13th of September. I haven’t had much time to sit down and make new posts, reply to comments or read blogs, but I’m trying, I’m trying! I haven’t bought a lot of makeup yet—just a few pieces, and skin care—but I have 4 cities in 2 more states to explore. So far, we’ve been to New York, Boston and Stockbridge in Massachusetts, and now we’re nestled in New Jersey. If you’re interested in following our American exploits, I’ve been posting a lot on my Instagram, @presidents. Let me know if you want to see a supremely tiny haul, too. 🙂 Anyway, here are a few bits I’ve gotten from the second round of Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP subs. I had this specific box shipped to my friend Barby’s place since there was a shipping mix-up and it first ended up at a dead address (my fault). Unfortunately, I hadn’t …

Sample Stash Sunday feat. Benefit: BDJ Box 7 Day Challenge

I’m not sure for how long these monthly BDJ Box challenges run, but there was so much stuff to sample from the Benefit exclusive box by BDJ last month that I felt I should try and do it, so I could try everything out, at least! Here’s a diary I began some time in June. The products were used, collectively, for seven days. I tried to get a rotation going, but I missed using all my other makeup, too. 🙂 The eye cream was a mainstay, though, but I’ll put it out there right now—it wasn’t my favorite of the bunch! DAY ONE And on the first day, I used the It’s Potent! Eye Cream, and I saw that it was good. Intended for “brighter, younger-looking eyes,” It’s Potent! fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines. I noticed that it has a more emollient texture than my current eye cream (Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream), but it also sinks in much faster and isn’t sticky. I’ll try to use this under makeup/concealer during this …

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP for June 2014

The June 2014 Box, aka the penultimate box, of the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP came with one product and no note. The product in question is called the Daily Refresh Tonic, which retails for $50. First of all, this box is huge, and contains 4oz. of product. Here it is in comparison with another skin care item we received earlier in the sub period, the Peau Vierge Dark Spot Correcteur, which contains a mere 0.5oz of product—my main reason for not repurchasing it. It’s a great product, but I don’t have $125 to spend on 0.5oz of product. Anyway, here is the size difference: (The Peau Vierge bottle is so grotty; I apologize!) See? Huge. Product Description: “Freshen up: this skin-invigorating tonic is an essential step in any skincare regimen prepares the skin to better receive topical restorative treatments by stimulating circulation, restoring balance to the complexion, as well as conditioning and hydrating. It also re-energizes the skin, creating a freshly-flushed appearance. How it Works: Daily Refresh Tonic, featuring the Rebalancing Complexe, …
