Unboxing: BDJ June 2014 Box*

Happy Monday everyone! Here’s a quick unboxing post, courtesy of the awesome surprise the ladies at BDJ Box left for me on Saturday. The June 2014 BDJ Box is another brand exclusive by Benefit. I’ve had great experiences with Benefit as a brand—in fact, one of my first base products was their tinted moisturizer, You Rebel Lite—but when I decided to focus on cruelty-free beauty brands, Benefit fell by the wayside, which was a tiny bit frustrating for me, as they have been releasing quite a few products that have been in development for a long time. One thing that Benefit does well is minis. I know that sounds really dumb, but when they want you to try their products, they really go all the way. Each sample in this box, for example, come as a mini version of their regular packaging, with some card packaging to mimic the boxes that full-size items may come in.

Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP May 2014

Just a quick post on the May 2014 Box from the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP. If you’ve been here long enough, this may be a familiar installment for you, since subscribers are on their 10th month of the service. The Beauty Vault VIP offering was a year-long subscription service by New York-based luxury cosmetics brand, Le Métier de Beauté. You signed up and paid up front, so it was a bit steep. The amount paid including shipping and handling was evened out by the 3rd or 4th month, though. For the May box, subscribers received two True Colour Eye Shadows, which are some of my favorite eyeshadow formulas. It seems like everyone received the same shades: Peachy Keen and Goldstone. Peachy Keen is very close to my skin tone, just a hair peachier and warmer. Goldstone is a very warm, medium gold. These swatches are made with one swipe, over bare skin. The eyeshadows come in a small round compact in a rubbery black plastic material, each with its own mirror (the …

Unboxing: BDJ Box May 2014*

Hi everyone! I’m back from a (sorta) beach trip, which I hope explains the absence. I have been quite busy and then I jumped into a holiday, so. I guess that means I left y’all here. Ah! I was met with the BDJ Box for May 2014* when I got home from Puerto Galera. Thank you, BDJ Box Team! It was a sweet surprise. 🙂 For the past few months, we’ve been getting so much makeup, I didn’t know if I could handle any more of it (a lie), but I was so happy to see what we got for this month (not a lie)! May 2014’s theme is Summer Radiance. I think it’s kind of a stretch, since I got a strange, albeit great, mishmash of products. I think they all serve their own purpose, theme or no theme. The first most noticeable full-size item is the too cool for school Pumpkin Sleeping Pack (Php 689, 100ml). I’m not quite sure how to use it, but it’s an overnight treatment that’s supposed to make …

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP March 2014

Hey everyone, just a quick post for today. 🙂 Before I left for Japan, I had gotten the March box from my Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP Subscription. For those not in the know, it’s basically a monthly subscription box from Le Métier de Beauté. The box’s set-up is an upfront payment for all 12 months. Each box costs roughly around $30, and this is the seventh box so far. If you’re curious about the subscription, here are my posts on it. Sign-ups open back up after this round is done. Boxes often come in this manner, with crinkly shredded black paper as the padding, a handwritten note, and a beautiful box tied with a black LMdB ribbon. We received two items this month, the Le Métier de Beauté Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo and the Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer, which is a product I’ve been longing to try but can’t seem to bring myself to because of the price tag. The Ultra Hydration Eye Mask Duo retails for …

Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP February 2014 Box

Yay for a super early February box from the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP Subscription. I kind of explain it a little and gave a 6-month recap over here, but for today, I’ll be showing you what I got for the February box, aka the Valentines one. First up, I have a Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Riviera ($32) which is a very warm, orange-toned red, aka the worst shade you could probably give me. Next, I’ve got two Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango, a punchy coral, and Cocoa Cabana, a creamy café au lait ($18 each). Again, two colors I’m not really interested in. Swatched, L-R: CCMS Lipstick in Riviera, Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango and Cocoa Cabana The lacquer formula is decent, though I wish I had gotten colors that were more up my speed or just ones that went well better. Both are in a nice, creamy formula, though they still don’t trump my favorite lacquer formula, butter London’s. The bottles on these are similar, but the cap/brush of …

Unboxing: BDJ Box (December 2013)*

Hey everyone, here’s a quick unboxing post of the BDJ Box for December. It’s another brand-centric offering from BDJ. This time, the spotlight is on Max Factor. It has quite a bit of makeup items in it that you can try extensively, which is always nice. The theme for this week’s box is Stand Out Like a Star. Max Factor is known as “the makeup of makeup artists,” and this box has a lot of items geared to making you feel like a Hollywood celebrity. Most of the items are sample-sized, with the exception of the Creme Puff, which is a compact powder. Here’s a rundown of the items that came with the BDJ Box: Creme Puff Pressed Powder in Medium Beige — “all-in-one compact powder originally made for movie stars.” I haven’t tried it on my face, but holy wow this is heavily scented! (21g, Php 575) Earth Spirit Eyeshadow — this is a really pretty golden color that’s perfect for all over the lid. Makeup artists use it for eyeliner, too, according to …

Unboxing: Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP November 2013

Hey everyone! Here’s a quick post on the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP November 2013 box, which arrived here a few days ago. The LMdB Beauty Vault VIP is a one-year subscription box that opened last July. Sign-ups for the next round will open back up next year. As always, it comes elegantly packaged along with a sweet, handwritten note. The first item was the Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack, which I had been wanting to get for the longest time. It retails for $36. Product Description: “Whether it’s a defined line or a subtle smudged sultry effect, this velvety-soft formula delivers rich pigmented color and allows easy application for versatile, sophisticated looks.” Anyway, when I swatched, I was smitten but I also thought it looked a lot like a MAC eye kohl called Teddy, swatched on the right. This photo is a bit of a disservice to both colors, because they are beautiful and have a warm bronzey sheen to them. Teddy is a little bit deeper, but otherwise they are pretty …
