FOTD: Celeste e Verde

Hello everyone! I just wanted to share a Face of the Day feat. the first look I ever attempted with MAKE Colour's Celeste e Verde Palette* (reviewed) because it's such a fun look that totally goes against the fall leanings of the makeup people have been wearing this season. Although I sometimes base my makeup on the Western hemisphere's concept of seasons, I'm not going to let the onset of autumn stop me from wearing pastel blue and yellow eyeshadow! I used Palermo, a pretty canary yellow all over the lid, fading out into the warmer brown, Brick in the outer corner, with Earth (a neutral brown) buffed out into the crease. I used my finger and the NARS Eye Brush no. 3 for the yellow lid shade, and a MAC 217 for the crease and outer corner shades.

Unboxing: BDJ Box August 2014*

Quick unboxing post of the BDJ Box for August 2014.* The theme for this month’s box is Luscious Locks, with 4 of the 7 items geared towards hair care. Spoiler Alert: I’m not too excited about this box, but that’s probably because I’m not very into hair products and also I just kinda cut my hair short so my hair care has been pretty low-key (lyesmith). I’ll let the contents speak for themselves! Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate, 30ml (Php 3500) My sample size is 5ml. This is an essence to be applied after cleansing and toning in the morning and at night. It promises to make the skin supple and glow with health with just 1 week of daily use. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick Shine in Foxy Lady, 4g (Php 350) I’ve never tried this range before, even though it’s pretty popular. I got a pretty sheer brown shade that’s quite similar to one of my favorite shades, NARS’ Vendanges. I like the formula of this, but it does fade away with a slight …

Empties No. 1

Hello everyone! This is my first empties post, and it’s quite sizeable. It’s mostly skin care and bath stuff, though, so if you are looking for makeup empties, feel free to skip on this! — Maybelline The Falsies Mascara: It was time to throw it out as I stretched it to 6 months, like a Josie Gross-y. I really liked this mascara, but I won’t be repurchasing as it’s not cruelty-free. — Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer: Throwing it out because it has become too tacky for me to work with. I won’t be repurchasing as I prefer other eye primers.

Liquid Foundation Swatch Fest

After I posted about the Ahava Liquid Foundation, fairytalesandcoffee asked me to do a swatch comparison with my other liquid foundations. I said OK because it’s fairly different from the other liquid foundations I have. Here are four types of foundation I own, since I have the L’Oreal Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation* in two shades, and strictly that. I didn’t include BB creams or tinted moisturizers, etc. From left to right, they are Ahava Light Foundation in Sand, Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in Cheers to me Champagne, L’Oreal Lucent Magique Foundation in G4 (I also have N5), and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum, which is technically a “gel” foundation, but I found the consistency to be similar to my other liquid foundations. Here are unblended swatches in the same order: I hope it’s evident that the Ahava foundation is thicker and creamier, whereas all the others are quite runny. Also, this goes to show you how sucky I am at shade-matching. (Although, I feel like I pick the correct shades. Agree?) Here are the swatches …

Drugstore Finds: Pack on the Pigment with L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadows

I’m very late to this party, but we don’t get these here and I got these months ago but never really reviewed them. I got whatever I could from a really old Multiply shop. Luckily, they had Amber Rush in stock, which is one of the colors I was dying to try. These came out around the time that the Maybelline Color Tattoos came out, so a lot of people mistook them to be similar products. The Color Tattoos are cream eyeshadows, whereas the “Infallible Eyeshadow contains ultra concentrated colour pigments, for an intense colour finish and up to 24 hour long-lasting hold.” Essentially, these are pigments that seem to be pressed (?) or just packed really tightly. I got, L-R: Amber Rush, Golden Sage, and Sultry Smoke. SS is the only matte color among the three. All aligned together like that, I’m reminded of the NARS Trio, Delphes, although this is much, much more pigmented. On the whole, I really like the quality of these eyeshadows. You have to apply the least possible amount …

Unboxing: BDJ Box for March 2013*

I was out yesterday and came home to the BDJ Box for March! Exciting. I wasn’t sent last month’s Shiseido bonanza, but BDJ Box has a lot of L’Oreal goodies this month that I’m sure a lot of subscribers would enjoy. OK, a head’s up: this month’s box is hefty. It was so heavy! I put two and two together and figured that they included full size hair products, and I was right! Here are full sizes of the Fall Repair Hair Shampoo (Php 110 for 180ml) and the Full Repair Hair Conditioner (Php 119 for 180ml), which are meant to nourish your hair and make them less fragile. I’m not too picky about hair products, and my hair “rejects” very few variants (the old Dove shampoo, par example), so these were OK things for me to get. Hair fall isn’t really a major problem for me. It was, but I fixed it with the red-capped L’Oreal shampoo. I’ve been using products from their new range—the Ever Strong shampoo and conditioner—which I love. It’s a …

Lit from Within: L’Oreal Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation Review

I’ve said it before: I’m not really a foundation type of girl. Or so I thought. There just really comes a point when you get tired of trying several variants of one thing only to be disappointed. Repeatedly. Funnily enough, I have been wowed by several “face base” products as of late. My first re-foray* into foundations and bases was through the most excellent Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Liquid Foundation (Review here). BHFOWLF (ridic initialism, I know) is a great light foundation with SPF, which is why I wanted to start wearing foundation again in the first place. I now realize that I could have just gone with face sunscreen, but it’s too late now. Anyway, I like using it a lot, though I do rotate it with a BB Cream from either The Body Shop or Snoe Beauty. For days when you feel like covering your face up a little more, though, try the L’Oreal Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation. I’ll go ahead and post the claims on the box: “Lucent Magique Light-Infusing Foundation …
