I wasn’t planning on talking about this just yet but when something great compels you, you tell the world about it. By ‘world,’ I mean my readership. Heh. Anyway, matte lipsticks… are kind of a tricky subject, I feel. I personally love matte lips, but a lot of people have said that they can be drying etc. Sometimes, I’ll even find a color I like that would be perfect, save for the glossy shininess. Anyway, I was looking at We See Beauty’s site, mainly for their cosmetics line, MAKE. I posted about them a long time ago but never got around to purchasing because they don’t accept credit cards outside the US. One night, my hankering for a palette led me to order from a third-party~ and now we are here. In case you were wondering, I picked up two other items, which I’ll talk about later, maybe. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils in Bahama and Dolce Vita

The NARS lip pencils have always intrigued me, and Krysty’s review of the Satin Lip Pencil in Sex Machine convinced me to finally go ahead and check them out. I was originally set on getting that, but I went with my gut instinct that told me I wouldn’t like a cool blue pink on myself, so I looked for a different color. The first one I got was a warm, deep brown with red undertones called Bahama. Here it is in action. I rather like it, though it’s a bit too dark a brown than I prefer. I do love wearing it, though with fresh, clean eyes and strong brows, like in this look. The Velvet Matte Lip Pencils glide on with an effortless smoothness, carefully coating each inch of lip with a beautiful opaque shade. I know I said I was on a makeup ban, but what do you expect me to do when my Guerlain SA, Jean, texts me about a 30% off sale. “Resist like a responsible adult, Carina,” you might say. Unfortunately, I can’t hear you as I’m drowning in lipstuff happiness. See, my friend Gracie, keeps asking me if I plan on buying any shades from Guerlain’s Rouge G L’Extrait line. And I’m just always so puzzled by the persistence. I mean, what’s so great about this lip gloss, really? What about it would make me want to drop $48 on one color? Pretty steep, if you ask me. That said, I don’t think I would ever buy it at original price, unless I had a more stable and higher-paying income. For a 30% off sale, though, I think I can forgive myself.
