I posted about my NARS Spring lemmings a few weeks ago, and I ended up buying two things from the “Final Cut Collection,” or which we have come to know as the pink collection. NARS came out with 4 pink-toned blushes with matching 4 satin lip pencils, as well as a pinky highlighter.
I’ve been wanting the NARS Sheer Glow Foundation (Php 2,550) for the longest time and I finally bit the bullet and bought it about a week ago. I was shade-matched to Punjab or the “Medium 1” shade of the range, which by the way has an impressive array of skin tones and colors.
Today’s post is just a quick Face of the Day featuring the Urban Decay Naked Palette. After deciding not to purchase the Naked 3 (for now, for hoarding avoidance), I picked up the original Naked Palette and decided to play around with it. Sometimes, I find it absolutely genius. Other times, I find it quite uninspiring. I think this is a great natural look, though I do find that some of the Naked shadows to be a bit too frosty for my liking. I used the Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze as a base. I applied it with my finger all over my mobile lid, blended upward around the crease. I used Buck as a transition shade (applied on crease and blended out), patted on Dark Horse on the outer third and blended into Smog which I patted on the inner half. My inner corner highlight is Sin. On my lower lash line, I smudged on Dark Horse (outer half) and Toasted (inner half). For definition, I added Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl …
I don’t usually discriminate makeup as seasonal only, but from time to time, I get swept up by the vibe of various holidays that my makeup just follows suit. Here are some blushes that I’ve been tending to reach for lately. L-R: Addiction Cheek Stick (Tea Rose), Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (Exposed), MAC Extra Dimension Blush (Fiery Impact), NARS Blush (Sin), Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush (Blushing Bride), BECCA Beach Tint (Raspberry), Addiction Cheek Stick (Suspicious) I tend to go neutral (to pair with a vampy lip) or with plums and berries if I want to wear a nude or neutral lip. Here are some of my favorite fall lipsticks. Whenever I think of autumn & the holidays, my mind reverts to the vampy and the berry shades that I have. There are two basic tricks for an immediate bright-eyed, Disney Princess effect, and those involve a light-colored liner on the lower lashline or an inner corner highlight. For that extra-bright, wide-eyed look, use both tricks. THE SCIENCE BEHIND A NUDE LINER The first time I found out about a bright liner on the lower lash line was when I was watching an episode of America’s Next Top Model. I wasn’t so convinced when Tyra said to use a white eyeliner, so it was a tip that went ignored—until people started talking about swapping it out for a nude eyeliner. Placing a light, neutral liner on your lower lash line makes you appear more awake because it cancels out the red on the inner rim of your eyes, without defining it the way a black or brown eyeliner would. It creates the illusion of bigger, brighter eyes, because there is continuity with the white part of your eye. One of my greatest frustrations when I was starting out with makeup was eyeshadow. I think that’s why I was so ecstatic to find out about primers. They made crappy eyeshadow look good and stay put. I eventually found some awesome eyeshadows that work well, even without a primer, but I couldn’t not wear primer once I started. Eye primers are basically the magic glue that bonds your eyeshadow to your eyelids. If your eyelids are prone to oiling up, a good primer or base will prevent your eyeshadow from ‘creasing’—or bunching up in unattractive lines, around your eye folds—and will get you through the day with pretty flawless makeup. There are a lot of good ones out in the market today, and I’ll share with you a few of my favorites. For your standard, dries-down-translucent eyeshadow primer, my top picks are Urban Decay Primer Potion and NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eyeshadow Base. These have worked the best on my eyes so far.
