Lazy Girl Makeup: One-Shadow Smokey Eye

Launching (very late) today is a series I’m hoping to keep doing for a long time: Lazy Girl Makeup! It’s basically a post every two weeks in which I share with you my lazy ways. Here, for example, is a one-shadow smokey eye look. I did a similar look last year, which you can find here. The main difference with this look and the old one is that I used a kohl/creamy pencil first. Draw a messy, rich line near your lash line. Don’t worry if it’s not neat! Smudge dat liner. I used the e.l.f. Eyeshadow “C” Brush, which if I’m not mistaken, is really made for a smokey eye. Pat on your chosen shadow (here, Le Métier de Beauté’s Midnight Sky, which is a deep sapphire-navy) all over the lid, going over the crease a tiny, tiny bit. Again. Don’t worry if it’s not neat. Use a clean blending brush (here, the MAC 217) to blend all of the edges and haze the shadow out. Apply the same liner on the lower lash …

Today, I’m going to attempt this look worn by Jennifer Lawrence, which is Sarie’s special request, via Whatsapp. It’s a warm, golden brown smokey eye with neutral everything else. In short, gorgeous! This is what I came up with, and as you can see, it is vastly different, but this was the best I have done after several attempts for the past couple of months. Anyway, I now know why I don’t really wear a smokey eye that much. This emphasizes my very mismatched eyes and my low-hanging eye bags. I also can’t do a thick black rim on my upper lash line because my right eye eats up any line I draw on it. If I want a thick line to show up, I might as well color in my entire eye. For my face, I just wore a soft rosy blush by Shiseido, warmed up the edges of my face + did a light contour with Tarte’s Park Avenue Princess (matte). Make That Face Monday: Easy Smokey Eye with NARS Duo in Dogon

Hello everyone! Today, I have a very quick review on a NARS eyeshadow duo called Dogon, and I figured I could make it a tutorial for a super easy smokey eye, too. I told you, I’d try! 😀 So, first of all, Dogon is supposedly a limited edition NARS duo from the Summer 2011 collection, but I still see it for sale everywhere, including the NARS website. It has a metallic taupe shade with an icy green sheen, and a charcoal black shade. I rather like this duo; I think I’m a sucker for duochromes and different-sheeny shades. The quality is OK; the taupe is really, really pretty, but the charcoal matte may apply patchily on the lid without a base (cream shadow or primer), or if you try to blend it out too much. Still, layering the shades over each other creates a lovely effect. Look at that pretty shimmery, sheeny green in the Venn Diagram intersection of both shades.
