Basic Eye Diagram & My Go-To Eyeshadow Technique

I used to teach part-time, and I find that it makes more sense to talk about history first. However, I haven’t exactly finished writing that post. Heh. So, for this day of this September Special, I wanted to share a basic “eye diagram” to sort of help you follow tutorials if you find them a little hard to do. I’m also going to post about my go-to technique for eyeshadow application, which was what I basically used when I was still exploring eye makeup. I just used to interchange the colors. 🙂 BASIC EYE DIAGRAM Obviously, there may be some differences with how each person refers to these “parts” of the eye, but this is how I usually follow tutorials and explain eye makeup to people. — Brow bone: protrusion just under your eyebrow. I know I did Lipstick Week not too long ago, but the truthiest truth out there is that I’m an eyeshadow lady. I fricken love the stuff. I think that’s really where it all went downhill. I can remember the first eye product I purchased that changed everything and how I looked at eye makeup (i.e. bareMinerals’ READY 2.0 in The Scenic Route). And then I was doomed to a life of swatching. I don’t know if I want to make a whole week’s worth of celebration out of this, because eye swatches are much, much harder to do than lipstick swatches, but I’ll begin by outing my favorite eye palettes for all of you. It’s been a while since I did one of these! Basically, Sample Stash Sunday is a section in my blog dedicated to me using up my samples. I have been lazy on the sample front, however, I have been trying a few products here and there, so I am ready to begin posting entries belonging to this series again. Here’s a good one, though one that’s been covered by a lot of people already: the Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm. I got a deluxe sample in my last UD order. Now, for some reason, I kind of expected a “mini” size. I don’t know why that is, but I did not expect to be holding a peanut. It is 3.7ml. On the tube, it claims to have/do: broad spectrum SPF20 DNA repair Optical Blurring Oil Free Swatches, L-R: Urban Decay Naked Skin Beauty Balm unblended, blended. OKAY. The Coolest Neutrals: A Review of the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette

A few days ago, I posted a review on the original Naked palette, so you might be thinking “A Naked Palette? Again?!” Well, I bought both in one go when UD had their 20% off Friends and Family sale. I figured I should just get both because I couldn’t choose and it’s not exactly the easiest brand to get a hold of here. It’s such an in demand brand—particularly the Naked line—that online resellers tend to mark these up quite highly. Essentially, I got both palettes for about Php 1,640 each. My sister got the Naked Basics palette, and I got a primer potion duo (original & Sin). We paid a total of about $24 in international and door-to-door shipping. I should have gotten more and sold online, but I’m a poor thinker. Anyway, on to the review! Drinking the Kool-Aid: A(nother) Review on the Urban Decay Naked Eyeshadow Palette

I know the world doesn’t need another post on the Urban Decay Naked Palette, but holy shit you guys, this is one of the best beauty products I’ve ever owned. If I’m not mistaken, this palette was released some time in mid-2010 and has achieved crazy cult status since then. I mean, I can see why. It’s a bunch of neutrals that go freakishly well together… but as with many-a-fawned-over things, this is so much more than that. With the Naked Palette, you get 12 shades: Virgin — pale shimmery beige-y nude. I thought it looked a bit 90s-browbone highlight in the pan, but it actually goes on very well and more subtly. Personified, this beige shadow would be Emma Watson. Sin — frosty pink champagne. This is a gorgeous wash of color on the lid for everyday. Naked — matte beige brown. Oh, another beige. Fancy that. Naked‘s beigeness is akin to The Carrie Diaries. It’s nothing special, but it gets the job done. Sidecar — shimmery medium bronze/brown with a little pink thrown …
