Here’s one of the four Revlon lip products that I bought (on sale!) on Sunday. I know, I know, I should be on a makeup ban, but it hardly feels like it. To tell you the truth, I have been quite good… in the sense that I only buy cosmetics at a 30% markdown, and only if I had been meaning to buy them anyway.

In fact, I had enough sense to say no to Maybelline’s Falsies Mascara, which I had seen Ingrid Nilsen of Miss Glamorazzi rave about endlessly—because it was a mainstay at Maybelline. Revlon in Manila also marks up their products to about twice what they would retail for in the States.

“But really, Carina? Four?”

Well, I never said I was perfect.

Anyway. On to Premier Plum, which is a beautiful plum with strong pink undertones and gold microshimmers. In the tube, it looks like it has a slight pearly finish, but when it sets and dries on your lips, you’re left with a slight sheen and a fairly pigmented stain.

What is it?

It also claims to last 24 hours, but I don’t have it in me to put that to the test.

It looks quite dark when swatched, but on the lips, I bet you can tell how great it is for everyday use. It’s good for a day look when you want a tiny bit more color than an MLBB. It’s also great for a night look, paired with a dark eye, if you want to keep it neutral.

As for the formulation of the Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Lipcolor, it dries to what visually looks like a cross between matte and satin, but it leaves behind a bit of tackiness that you can especially feel when you press lips together, which I do a lot. It’s not drying, exactly, but there is a slightly uncomfortable feeling on your lips.

On the upside, it really lives up to its name. There’s minimal transfer and the color stays on your lips!

That said, it can be difficult to remove, but any oil-based cleanser will do the trick. I showered with it and it did not budge, even when I soaped the swatches on my arm!

It can also be a bit tricky to apply. The doe-foot applicator carries a lot of product, so handle with care. Make sure to also get rid of the excess product that might get on the inner area of your mouth (do a finger test!) as it runs the risk of going on to your teeth. I picked two other tubes in fairly dark shades, and it’s not a pretty sight!

Note: After a bit research, it seems like this shade also falls under the “Liquid Lipstick” category. I’m not sure why it says “Lipcolor,” but it seems like they are just the same thing. 🙂

VERDICT: Quality lip product (stays on through food and drinks), though slightly tacky, in a color that will get you a lot of mileage.
Will you purchase again? Yes! But maybe only when they go on sale again!
How much? Php 825 or $10.99 for 3ml. Bought for Php 400 on sale.
