Here’s a short post on some recent acquisitions from the Chanel Precieux Printemps Collection for 2013. Precieux Printemps translates to “precious spring” and the girliness of the whole collection seems to embody that. I didn’t expect to get anything from the collection, just because it seemed pretty basic and dainty. Alas.
I ended up picking up 4 items from the collection. I initially just intended on picking up the blush, because I didn’t have a coral/peach blush in my collection yet. And then, Duty Free happened. I asked Sarie to pick up one lip color from the collection (Envoutante), and then I ended up asking her to get me the two others (Captivante & La Favorite) I’d been eyeing as well.
In order of want:
Chanel Rouge Allure in Envoutante, aka the shade I was sure I wanted. This is one of my first Rouge Allure shades. It’s a deep plummy shade with some shimmer and some slick to it. I’m not sure I like this formula over the other Chanel ones I’ve tried (Rouge Coco, Rouge Coco Shine, Rouge Allure Velvet), but it’s not terrible. The shade is buildable, but may apply patchy.
Chanel Rouge Allure in Captivante, second favorite shade, and I suppose second tube of Rouge Allure. It’s a pretty basic muted peach brown. The formula reminds me of a hybrid of the Rouge Allure Velvet and the original Rouge Coco. It’s more opaque and much creamier than Envoutante. Great to wear for everyday and a nice alternative to my Rouge Coco in Perlé, which is my go-to neutral.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet in La Favorite, the shade I was on the fence about getting, which ended up being my favorite of the lot. It’s a matte pink-coral and is possibly the first “bright” lipstick that I own. The other Rouge Allure Velvet shade I have is La Distinguée, which is what I think of when someone says coral, but La Distinguée is so much more muted when you compare it to La Favorite. Anyway, suffice to say, this shade is love.
Chanel Joues Contraste in Frivole, aka the only item I wanted from the collection. I love this blush, though it has a very strong flowery grandmaesque scent that borders on unpleasant. This blush gives a nice flush to my cheeks.
I will be posting in-depth—or at least, more detailed—reviews on the items once I’ve spent more time with them. Overall, I’m glad I asked her to pick up the two other shades because Envoutante, which was my top pick, is actually my least favorite of the three. I still like Envoutante, but I like the other two more. Here are quick snapshots of myself wearing the three shades, as well as the blush, side by side.
THIS LOOKS LIKE A FANART BLEND.
I’m sorry I look mad. That is my default face, especially when I am walking down the street. When I am engrossed in a story, my brows furrow a little bit more. That is probably why I don’t have any friends. ANYWAY, the order is, from left to right: Envoutante, Captivante, La Favorite.
I am wearing Frivole on my cheeks, The Body Shop’s Brow Kit (the shade is 02, I believe), and Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Eye Kit in Silk Road on my eyes. And that is about it.
Fingers crossed that I finish the posts sometime soon. I hope you are all having a wonderful day! 🙂
THESE LOOK LOVELY. Lipsticks are the end of me. I don’t own any from Chanel, though; any recommendations as to which line I should start with?
Thanks 🙂 OK, here’s a rough “guide,” but I’m no expert so when/if you shop for these, it’s also good to ask your SA for help 😀
– Rouge Coco: this is the original formula. I have Perlé, and it’s a beautiful, creamy lipstick that made me fall in love with lipsticks in the first place (didn’t care for them or get them prior to this one)
– Rouge Coco Shine: this is a sheer, shiny range. Both shades I have (Boy and Antigone) have a bit of sparkle to them. These are lightweight, shiny (as the name suggests) and strikes me more as a tinted lip balm, just because the coverage is so sheer.
– Rouge Allure: Not quite sure what these are, but they are pretty standard. I don’t find Envoutante and Captivante all that similar in terms of formula, so I’m at a loss re: how to describe these. I think they might be a satin finish? But don’t quote me on that.
– Rouge Allure Velvet: Chanel’s matte-iest formula, which also happens to be my favorite among the bunch. I love the Rouge Allure Velvets. ❤ They might settle into dry lines and accentuate flakes, though, so always exfoliate and moisturize parched lips before applying these. 🙂
Hope that helps!
Wow I wasn’t expecting this but thanks so much! ❤ You're awesome. (PS I scrolled down and read Krysty's comment. I agree re. the rough guide 😀 )
I will get on that then 😀
I only have one Chanel lipstick — Rouge Coco in Gabrielle and I still haven’t used it 😀 😀 😀 That blush looks amazing!
PS: So touched I’m under the Friends section on your link list 🙂
You should get on that! I love Chanel lipsticks ❤
PS Yay!
You look gorgeous in every lip shade! I hadn’t intended to pick up anything from this collection, but as always you have me seriously reconsidering! Beautiful!!
Aw thank you! Which one were you thinking of getting? I love the nail color you got!
You could do a post on that rough guide to Chanel lipsticks! I don’t have any RAVs yet, but I’m looking to get L’Exuberante. When it finally becomes available again here, because ugh. I’m being all decent and saving money.
Maybe I shall 😀 I am not doing so well at saving money but. Duty Free!
I WANT MORE MAKE UP
How’s the makeup collection rebuilding going? 😦
La Favorite looks lovely on you Careng!
Thanks, Ina! 😀
pretty! I used to be a huge follower of chanel seasonal collections but not so much anymore. either way i’m glad you got your hands on these pretty shades!
I haven’t actually really kept up with releases until quite recently. I was a random observer and now I have been sucked into this world of wonder~ I think the whole grabby hands thing will die soon (at least I hope so) and I can view beauty products like a normal human being would.
lol! Good luck with that. I was sucked into Chanel for quite a while, lol! like a year or 2! i fell out of love, as I ended up finding brands with better quality or products i preferred either for the same price range or cheaper! I do have to say that some of their latest releases do look quite promising and much better quality than years ago!
I get what you mean. 🙂 I’m actually exploring brands and I’ve been super interested in LMdB and Tom Ford. Any suggestions for Chanel alternatives?
I quite like TF lipsticks, but the rest of the brand seems too pricey for what appears to be quality comparable to chanel. I’m a HUGE fan of burberry, and there are some standout products from guerlain! I’m starting to look into by terry, chantecaille, sunday riley, and Koh Gen Do! 🙂
See, I have my eyes on TF lipsticks and blushes but I am more attracted to the blushes. Am I wrong on this? Haha. We don’t get Burberry here, so I’m not soooo keen on trying that out yet, but Guerlain is already one of my favorites. Aaah, I am so excited and also so terrified of that list! Haha
Lol! The blushes do seem nice but I haven’t been into blushes with any shimmer later, so that’s why I’m avoiding them. Burberry is so natural and amazing 🙂 yeah, my list is scaring me too lol!!
