Waterproof Makeup, Kind Of

Summer is upon us here in the tropical areas of the world. I’m sorry if you are still stuck in a wintry climate (bah, you!) but I cannot pretend that I live in lovely Spring weather when I’m being attacked by prickly heat despite sitting in front of an electric fan at full breeze power.

This is how hot it is in Manila: YOU CAN FRY AN EGG WITH THE SUN.

Anyway, now that we have established that it’s Summer Lovin’ weather over in this part of the world, I thought I would put together a list of Waterproof-ish Makeup that is mostly melt-resistant.

Sadly, I have not found a face base that can withstand the literal buckets of sweat we excrete this time of the year, but I have a few good things in here that can maybe make up for it.

EYES. I think it’s pretty obvious that all of the eye products you use should be waterproof, period. Now, I know some of these selections are kind of hard to get a hold of, but read on. No, really, read on.

Waterproof - Eye

Eyeshadow: In this heat, your eyeshadow is only as good as your base. If you are not feeling your UDPPs or TFSIs or NARSs, then pick a heavy-duty cream eyeshadow. I can recommend a few good ones, mainly MAC Paint Pots, Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow/Liner, and these Maybelline Color Tattoos. I have listed this one, Bad to the Bronze, because I swam in a pool wearing it and it didn’t migrate anywhere. Also, it helps out a lot if you want that bronze goddess look.

Eyeliner: I reviewed these Le Métier de Beauté Indelible Inks not too long ago, but they are the waterproofiest liners I’ve ever come across. You could try the liquid eyeliners from K-Palette or Dolly Wink, but they all budge eventually, in my experience.

Mascara: The Maybelline Volum’Express The Falsies Mascara is a very waterproof-y mascara. I swatched it on my hand one day and had to really fight with my hand to get it to leave. So, yeah, I would go with this one.

CHEEKS. For a natural blush that you can probably get outdoors, simmering in the heat all day, anyway.

Waterproof - Cheek

Blush: Here’s a good stain, BECCA Cosmetics Beach Tint. I have it in Raspberry, and I reviewed it here. Honestly, this is a spectacular product with incredible longevity, and it can also be used on the lips. Go get it.

Bronzer: Introducing the Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte & Waterproof Bronzer in Park Avenue Princess. This is a mouthful! Also, this is awesome and won’t result in sad little streaks on your face after a tussle in an MRT train car.

LIPS. Of course… what everybody has waited for. To be honest, I wouldn’t sweat it (get it? Ha-ha~) but here are some products that would be ideal if you don’t want to bother with lip products while you’re busy finding a clean, well-ventilated room.

Waterproof - Lips

Liquid Lipstick: Specifically, this one by Revlon. This literally does not budge. Sure, it’s a little tacky and heavy on the lips, but if you are looking for something that is transfer-resistant, this is your guy.

Lip Stains: If the BECCA Beach Tint is too pricy for you, grab some of these Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains instead! They’re not the same, but they’re still awesome for the fuss-free summer freedom you want.

So, there you have it! What do you think of my picks? Anything you can recommend as well? 🙂

Are the maybelline color tattoos available here?

A friend of mine has this heavy duty liquid lipstick from Stila and once it’s on, it does not budge through ANYTHING. (Even heavy makeout sessions daw, if that’s not TMI) :p

    • Hey Gracie, you can get the color tattoos locally from online resellers like Stuff In Style and Bon Marche.

Haha I think my friend’s been raving about those. I really want to get one in Patina!

I am obsessed with that Maybelline bronze cream eyeshadow. Serious… obsession. Everybody needs to know about this gem!!

    • I know! It’s amazing 😀 I got Tough as Taupe first and loved it, but this one is very very good, and is probably my favorite.

I am wearing it right now! Hahaha.. such a great product!

  3. Great post. 🙂 As much as I love makeup, it’s endlessly frustrating wearing it in the Manila heat when it just melts off your face.

For face, the closest thing I know to withstand the heat considerably is the Revlon ColorStay Foundation for Oily/Combination Skin.

    • Totally! 😦 Thanks for that! Usually, I just use a mineral foundation so it’s pretty much melt-free 🙂
