Okay, so I hauled an Illamasqua lipstick a few months ago. It was called Immodest, and it was part of the I’mperfection collection last Spring. It’s a beautiful bright, light pink that looks almost neon and it is definitely not a color I would normally choose.
It took a while for me to review because IT BROKE. I was trying to apply an even coat on my lips, and I guess I didn’t notice pressing too hard on the bullet and it snapped clean off! I only was able to fix it recently, being a lazy MacGyver and all.
(Just kidding, it’s still broken. I am the WORST MacGyver.)
But there, that is evidence of its extreme dryness. It is quite difficult to apply because there is very little slip. I didn’t want to have to resort to a balm underneath because it compromises its matteness, but it was virtually impossible to apply (at least for me) without one, so this lip swatch was made with a glossy neutral balm underneath:
I found that it toned down the brightness considerably, because the lip color is originally brighter, pinker and just overall more amped up without it. It’s quite in-your-face on its own.
And, let me tell you a little story about The Importance of Skintones. What pushed me to get this shade, despite my better judgement, you ask? Estée of Essie Button fame. See, this is what it looks like on her:

Compare to how it looks on me and I am sure that you’d understand! I mean, I thought it would look like that on me. Alas. LOL I don’t blame her but that was my BIG lesson.
Anyway, I’m eyeing a couple of lipsticks from Illamasqua, namely Corrupt and Scandal. Three-ish months to go before my ban is lifted! I am kind of dying, but it is also fairly liberating. 🙂 I’ll see if I still want them after that.

It looks good! Maybe try putting *very little* balm? LOL I don’t even know what I’m talking about. Mattes are hard to apply, kaya hanggang NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream lang ako haha. Never tried applying matte straight from a bullet.
Some are forgiving! My fave mattes are MAC’s Mehr and NARS’ Montego Bay as well as the NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencils.
I bought this colour and i looooove it. Mine also snapped to pieces very quickly so now it looks a bit of a state. Very drying but I find the colour lasts for hours.

It’s still in some sort of lipstick shape in the tube haha. I just keep layering it little by little until the colour builds!
