Be the Life of the Party with bareMinerals Ready 8.0: The September Issue

I just can’t get enough of bareMinerals’ READY eyeshadows. They’re truly top-notch quality with an extremely velvety texture and wide selection of shades. I first picked up a READY duo in France during a wait for a train (bored people go to Sephora), then a quad about a month or so after. When bareMinerals went on sale, I decided to pick up two eight-pan palettes since they were marked down, and also because I felt bad about missing out on The Playlist, which I had been eyeing. Hello, Retail Therapy. You rang? (Although, I think I just have unnaturally grabby hands.) Anyway, here’s the first—and more expensive—of the two, The September Issue. I picked this up partly because of the name. I have always dreamed of working in magazines, and also, I am a September baby! I think this palette gives me room to play around more, too. I gravitate towards more neutral anything, and I’m at a place where I’d like to be more adventurous. The September Issue seems to invite that quality. There’s …

Mail Time! My first bareMinerals Order

I haven’t been perusing makeup counters in a while. Physically, anyway. I’ve rather been click-happy when it comes to cosmetics post-Christmas, because I had some extra money from gifts and such. I tucked most of it in the bank, but of course, I couldn’t help shopping for some items for myself, too. The trouble with shopping online is that it always feels like I have to go through hoops and needle eyes before I get my things. Two weeks into the new year and I’ve “acquired” a lot of items but haven’t gotten any of them. It’s a rather odd feeling to have less money but nothing in my hands. I suppose that’s a test of patience, which I wasn’t particularly good at to begin with, anyway. I was about to give in and run to the nearest mall to just buy something to get rid of this makeup itch, when a package arrived at my doorstep! Yay, bareMinerals! You have saved the day. I ordered these when a bunch of items I was looking …

Elevate Your Look with Benefit Creasless Cream Shadow/Liner in Stiletto

To be honest, I don’t know what compelled me to pick this up, but while waiting for Sarie to meet up with me after she retrieved her gift wrapped Christmas gifts from the counter, my eyes wandered around the different makeup stations around me. I’d heard only good things about this ceaseless cream shadow by Benefit, but I never felt the need to try it, mainly because most trips to the beauty sections are based on a list and this was never on it. Ahem. So, why this color? Again, I couldn’t really tell you, because up until now I wonder if I should have gotten a more sensible color, like Skinny Jeans or Birthday Suit. But, I went with Stiletto. And I left it alone for a long time because I remember it being red and I thought, “What were you thinking, Carina? It’s red. Do you want to look like Voldemort’s bride?” Then I braved the possibility of disappointment and swatched it, and well, who’d have thought it would actually be more violet …

Liebster Award!

Hello everyone! I was nominated by Dandelion Whiskers for the Liebster Award a few days ago, and I received a few more nominations~ (by Totally Tamryn and Rose-Tinted Beauty) in between then and now, because I’m so lazy. For the uninitiated, the Liebster award is given to up-an-coming bloggers with less than 200 followers. 🙂 The rules are: Share 11 facts about yourself. Answer the awarder’s 11 questions. Ask 11 questions of your own. Nominate 11 bloggers. ________________ So, fun stuff (?) about me, in eleven parts: My senior thesis was on Veronica Mars from Veronica Mars, Angela Chase from My So-Called Life, and Buffy Summers from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I just got into make up (extensively and obsessively) a few months ago. I have not looked back since. I am quite happily in a relationship currently. 2013 marks our second year together! I studied BFA Information Design in Ateneo de Manila University. I taught Introduction to Illustration a few years later. I’ve only had one desk job, for one month. After which, I …

BDJ Box (January 2013)

So, the kind folks at BDJ Box sent over January 2013’s box and here’s a post on what’s inside. First, I must say that they are very speedy. I got this yesterday after providing my information the day before that. The box is smaller than what I thought it would be, from the pictures I’ve seen online. But, that doesn’t mean that it’s not super packed. Because it totally is. The January BDJ box also came with a steno dot grid (!!!) notebook. ❤ Here's an overview of what's inside: PROS: For Php 480 (!) a month, you get a lot of bang for your buck. There’s a a lot in here, both samples and full-sized products and coupons/vouchers. You get to try new things you would never think of picking up. You get introduced to new brands. Instead of spending G’s on new products, you spend Php 480 (!) for a chance to try out several kinds from a wide range of brands. Every month, you get something in the mail, which I like! …

Quickie: Rouge G L’Extrait in Avarice and Gourmandise

Last December, Guerlain had a(nother) 30% off sale, so I took it upon myself to pick up two other shades from their L’Extrait line. For a more detailed review, check my post on my first L’Extrait shade, Orgueil, in which I write about the formula, the heavy metal case, and other such things. There are only seven shades (after the seven sins) in the line and I currently have three. (!!!) Sorry these aren’t the best swatches, but hopefully, you get the idea. The first shade I wanted to try is Avarice, which is a beautiful light nude that looks brown, but has a bit of a rosy undertone, which I love. I wasn’t going to get this shade initially, because I didn’t think it was “wise” to spend so much on a neutral (LOL LOGIC~), but Gracie said that it was her favorite among all her L’Extraits, so I thought I ought to give it a shot. And I am so glad because it’s gorgeous. The staying power of Avarice, compared to Orgueil, is …

What’s in my bag? (January 2013)

A short(ish) video—as short as I could make it—on the crap I stuff in my bag. Fun fact: I’ve always wanted to vlog, and tried when I was 19, but it didn’t work out because I’m awkward as heck. Obviously. Anyway, I hope you enjoy watching this hastily-edited video! I would love to see what’s in your bags or purses. 🙂
