Here’s a quick-ish FOTD that I came up with in the car, on the way to a doctor’s appointment and a whole day out.
Eyes: MAC Paint Pot in Constructivist, a bunch of Inglot Eyeshadows that barely showed up, K-Palette Real Lasting Liquid Eyeliner in 01, Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Noir.
Eyebrows: Graymelin Seven Tatto Eyebrow in Dark Brown, The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit in 02.
Face/Base: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light.
Cheeks: Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Face Kit in Cheeky Chic
Lips: Hourglass Femme Rouge Lipstick in Fresco
Way too much work—and product— went into this look, and you can’t even see it.
Which made me want to draw up some tips on putting together a face when you’re in a hurry and only have your time in the car/on your commute to put together a presentable face. Here’s what I’d do instead:
EYES: Use a cream shadow (that doesn’t crease) and a pencil liner, since it’s easier to do a smudge-y line.
One color shadows are your best friend here. You have no time for complex eye looks or gradients—you lost that privilege when you slept in later than you thought you should have! A smudge-y line on your top lash line will provide dimension and room for error, c/o your shaky in-the-traffic hands.
Suggestions for cream shadows: MAC Paint Pot in Groundwork, Constructivist, Rubenesque. Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze or Tough as Taupe.
Suggestions for eye pencils: Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils. MAC Eye Kohl in Prunella or Teddy. Le Métier de Beauté Dualistic Eye Pencil in Tamarack.
CHEEKS/BLUSH: Use a color with a sheen to it, to cut down on having to use a highlighter!
Apply this on the outer apples of your cheeks, or on your cheekbones in a downward, diagonal motion, kind of like a contour but higher up on your face. Blend well!
Suggestions: NARS Powder Blush in Orgasm. Tom Ford Cheek Color in Wicked.
LIPS: For lips, choose a light nude or an MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade so that any errors will be minimal. Hydrate with a lip balm, too!
Use a lip balm for easier application and slip. Carefully apply the lipstick, making sure the road is not at its bumpiest when you do so. Choosing a nude-ish or light color will minimize errors. Imagine correcting a light lipstick mistake, then imagine correcting a red lipstick mistake!
Suggestions: Le Métier de Beauté Hydra-Crème Lipstick in Sahara. NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Montego Bay. MAC Lipstick in Mehr, Jubilee.
FACE BASE: When I’m in a rush, I don’t really end up doing my face base anymore, so I just settle for some finishing powder.
Pick a great powder for your base, as powder mistakes aren’t as obvious as ones made by unblended cream or liquid products. The sheerer, the better. You just want to look put together; you don’t have to have a full face of makeup on! P.S. Pick a great travel brush!
Suggestions: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Mood Light, Ethereal Light, Dim Light.

When I’m in hurry, I ditch everything else and go for a groomed eyebrow, a little (../a lot) concealer & lipstick!
Are the Inglot shadows not good ba?

I don’t know. They’re not very impressive. I have to play with them a bit more, I think.

I usually wouldn’t bother with the eyeshadow. Powder foundation on, a little bit of brown eyeliner, a rosy tinted lip balm and maybe a lipgloss swiped on top. =) Thanks for the wonderful post!
Ahhh, IDK why I “can’t live” without eyeshadows anymore. It’s like I MUST put some on or else I feel like I look tired or something. Thank you for reading! 🙂
As I am the driver I really can’t skip doing makeup at home. When I am super rushed I just put on eyebrow powder, eyeshadow base (to cover the sleepy dark eyelids), and maybe a dash of powder on top. I finish up with my lip products when I am already at work.
I think products that don’t require brushes are the way to go!
I also use cream eyeshadows and blush with shimmer (Illamasqua’s Ambition) when I apply makeup in the car on my way to work.
There was even a time when I was in a hurry and I forgot my blush at home. I ended up doubling my use of the Happy Skin lippie as blush and lip color!
AHHH I’m super lemming that Illamasqua blush duo (Katie/Ambition). I used to use a lipstick as my blush rin in college! Haha!
I can’t do makeup in the car, the most I can get on is lip gloss but that’s about it. So I prefer to be late vs risk seriously injuring myself with my clumsiness. But if I am in a hurry, I usually just do tinted moisturizer + mascara + lip product. That’s the extent of my lazy weekend makeup too. Haha

I do my makeup while driving quite often since I’m such a slowpoke while getting ready for school during mornings and Taft traffic is insane! I know it’s dangerous and all, but… a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do (LOL WHO AM I KIDDING THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR MY IRRESPONSIBILITY)? 😆
I’m amazed, though—whenever I do my makeup in the car (when I’m the one driving), the only things I can manage to do without literally dying are: putting on primer, polishing my face base with the MAC Studio Fix Powder + Foundation (I never bring my fluid foundation in my makeup bag), concealing my under-eye circles, setting my whole face with MAC Blot Powder (I like a matte finish because I have horribly oily skin), putting on lipstick, blush, and finishing my whole face with Guerlain Voyage powder in Mythic. I can’t do my eyebrows (or any eye makeup unless you count in the concealer) at all when I’m the one driving because it feels too risky for both my life (including my eyeballs if I don’t get into a car accident) and how my eyebrows would look like. 😆
Ah! I don’t drive kasi so I can afford to be more… excessive. Haha! I think eyebrows need special attention, so I totally get what you mean. 🙂
