Nosy Beauty Vol. 24: Joanne

Hey everyone. Apologies if this week's Nosy Beauty is a day late. I have no excuses other than I forgot to take care of it during the week. January is incredibly hectic, so I hope you all understand. 🙂 Anyway, this week, I have another fellow BNTGirl on the chopping block, Joanne! She is also Filipino, but is based in the US, and blogs over at Ur Happy Bunnie. 🙂

I’m Joanne and I’m admittedly a makeup junkie. I’m a BS Nursing graduate procrastinating to take my NCLEX. In between reviewing for my exam, working part time and enjoying my Korean dramas and Kpop, I’m a beauty blogger – Urhappybunnie. I currently live Jersey City, very accessible to New York but I hail from the City of Smiles, Bacolod, Philippines.

I’m confident with or without makeup; it’s just that when I have makeup on, I feel like all my features are enhanced. Makeup was something that I turned into when I was in college to boost my self confidence since I was a little bit insecure of my looks when I was in high school and I didn’t want to be that insecure, ugly girl in college. I was dealing with weight issues and I needed something to make me feel beautiful both inside and out. With makeup being a huge game changer for me, I really felt beautiful; I didn’t care if somebody said I wasn’t. From then on, makeup became a huge part of my life. Back then, if you told me I would be a beauty blogger today, I wouldn’t have believed you.

My everyday looks tend to vary and so does the makeup products that I use but I can never run out of the house without putting on a BB Cream (Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Medium), filling in my very sparse eyebrows (Wet n Wild Brow Kit) and lining my outer lower lash line with a brown eyeshadow to make my eyes stand out a little bit since I think it is very small.

I am a huge fan of Urban Decay and I have a lot of their eyeshadow palettes but I tend to reach out to the Naked 1 and Naked Basics palette the most for this past year. I usually rock either a simple neutral eye or smokey eye. For the cheeks, I must say that my ultimate blush is NARS Deep Throat (a very awkward name and that goes for most of NARS products) and for contouring, I use the Clinique Sunkissed Bronzer that I’m nearly out of. I also love highlighting and I use my MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Soft and Gentle for that. And for the lips, I go for a coral lip, a pink or a red depending on my mood.

I do have quite a bit of makeup for an average girl but contrary to that I only carry necessities in my makeup bag for touch up purposes. I usually carry around a small makeup bag, it’s green and it’s from Crabtree and Evelyn but sadly I spilled foundation on it while it was on top of my vanity so I switched it up to my Estee Lauder makeup bag that I got from a holiday collection a few years back. It is my travel makeup bag so it is bigger than what I usually carry daily but I think it is good because I sometimes chuck in other products I use for the day’s makeup look.

So what’s inside my bag? Well, I have the e.l.f. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder (which is a dupe for the NARS Orgasm & Laguna Blush and Bronzer) and I also carry with me the ECOTOOLS retractable brush for application or re-application in the instance of touch-ups. I also carry with me a sample size of the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. If I have to leave and do my makeup on the go, I just slip in my Urban Decay Naked Basics in my makeup bag or if I forget about it, I just use my blush and bronzer as my eyeshadows too. I also have a pen liner, the NYX Super Skinny Marker, and a pencil liner, the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Zero. I line my upper lash line with the pen liner and the outer corner of my lower lash line with the pencil liner and smudge it out with a Q-tip. And yes, I do carry around Q-tips in my makeup bag. It’s great for cleaning up makeup and for touch ups.

Dark circles are a no-no, and sadly I have really dark circles under my eyes that just won’t go away no matter how long I sleep or treat them so I carry with me the NARS Stick Concealer in Ginger. My favorite concealer is actually the Ever Bilena Mousse Concealer in Honey Beige (or was it Medium Beige? I honestly can’t remember!) and I ran out of it months ago and I couldn’t get my hands on it again until I get back to the Philippines. The NARS stick concealer is actually really good, and the liquid concealer is even better but I just haven’t gotten around to getting the liquid concealer since Sephora it’s always out of stock whenever I go to Sephora.

To satiate my highlighting needs without the bulk of a compact, I have a sample size of Benefit’s Girl Meets Pearl liquid highlighter. I love how it makes my face glow and looks instantly refreshed.

Dry lips are my next pet peeve after dark circles and the only remedy I have for that is the Aquaphor Healing Ointment. I used to have the one in a tube but I ran out of it and since we have a big tub of it at home, I just helped myself to it and grabbed some in a small jar. And being on the topic of lips, I have 3 other lip products in my kit – Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in Perfect Kiss (a jumbo lip crayon in a coral shade), 3Concept Eyes Lip Lacquer in Pink Boom (a liquid lipstick in a bright pink shade), and Model Co Party Proof Matte Lipstick in Peony (a red lipstick that smells amazingly like berries and is the smoothest matte lipstick I’ve ever tried). As I said earlier, I love myself a coral, pink, or red lips. I do switch up my lipsticks quite often but for the past month this has been my staple lippies.

Last but not the least, my makeup bag wouldn’t be complete without my contact lens case and the Visine Maximum Redness Relief Formula eye drops. I wear circle lenses daily and I really have bad eyesight but lately my eye allergies have been worse than ever and exposure to the cold wind just makes my eyes so irritated, watery and extremely red. I bet, if you see how red my eyes are you’d think I’m doing drugs. LOL. So yeah, I carry around Visine to relieve the redness and irritation even if just a little bit.

Thanks Joanne! Here’s a peek of next week’s Nosy Beauty feature:

I got worried when there was no Nosy Beauty post for this wek. I checked every few hours to see if you would post one. Nosy Beauty is one of my weekly fixes. Ifeel like my week isn’t complete without reading a post. Hehe. 🙂

    • Aww! ❤ Haha I'm so glad that someone waits for Nosy Beauty. Don't worry, I'll try to be on top of things from now on!
