Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP December Box: Kaleidoscope Face Kit in Cheeky Chic

The December box of the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP subscription was a real treat. Their inaugural box already had a kaleidoscope, and although I got a lip kaleidoscope instead of an eye one, I wasn't expecting to see another kaleidoscope in this subscription, especially not this soon!

To recap: The Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP* was a subscription launched in July 2013, as an all-in one-year subscription, paid upfront. Sign-ups were closed soon after and will open back up after this round is done, so around July 2014. The first box was sent in August 2013. So far, we have received excellent products in the first six months. I’ll post a different recap post when my January item gets here, although I already know what it is because I can’t stay away from spoilers!

The items always come wonderfully packaged, and it is truly like opening a gift every time. In case you’re not familiar, Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscopes are their signature item: four-tiered “palettes” that are designed to work in conjunction with each other or layered on top of each other. There have been eye, lip, blush, and face kaleidoscopes, but I’ve also seen a few that are a combination. They usually retail for $95 each.

Cheeky Chic is designated as a face kaleidoscope and includes two blushes, a light bronzer/blush, and a highlighter. This is my first encounter with LMdB cheek products, so I was doubly excited to try them out.

Le Metier de Beaute - Kaleidoscope Face Kit - Cheeky Chic - Tier 1

The first tier is called “Velvet Underground,” and is described as a pure matte salmon-pink.

The second tier is called “Dali,” and is described as a pure matte classic pink.

The third tier is called “Ondine” and it’s a silky matte beige nude.

Le Metier de Beaute - Kaleidoscope Face Kit - Cheeky Chic - Tier 4

Lastly, the fourth tier is called “Electra,” and it’s a sheer gold luminizer.

I’ve swatched them all here, L-R is Velvet Underground, Dali, Ondine, and Electra. The swatches after are all of them layered (since that’s what the Kaleidoscopes are known for), and then all of them except Dali.

I think this is an excellent range of cheek products that’s kind of all-around, with several options such as a warm flush, a bright pop of pink, something neutral, only matte cheeks, and of course, something luminous. I kind of can’t get over the awesome collection of shades in this kit.

The longevity of the blushes is quite impressive, too, and the pigmentation is almost perfect for my skin tone and coloring, though a tad bit too light, I think. With how agreeable all of the shades are, I think it could suit a great variety of women. However, in the MUT thread for this subscription, someone with a darker skin tone was lamenting the product since it doesn’t show up on her. For myself, I do need to layer on a couple of shades or build up one shade so that it shows up the way I want it to.

In any case, they are great quality blushes—nothing short of what I’ve come to expect from Le Métier de Beauté. They are truly one of my favorite makeup companies.

* Thank you Sarie for this wunnerful gift. Le Métier de Beauté is cruelty-free.

  1. Argh, now you make me want to sign up for their beauty box! This is amazing value, and not to mention awesome products that you’re getting!

  2. The stuff from the LMdB boxes make me want to subscribe only if it didn’t come in steep price. Boohoo. The last four swatches are so prettyyyy ❤❤❤

    • Really? That sucks 😦 Have you emailed the LMdB Customer Service people about it? They’re usually good with complaints!
