Hey everyone! Today’s Nosy Beauty victim is Laala from Intermittent Makeup. I actually got to know her through Tumblr first; she was friends with one of my friends and we all liked books. 🙂 She’s a poet with great taste in both books and makeup. Hope you all enjoy!
I’m quite laid back when it comes to makeup. Between the ages of 10 to about 13 I went through a phase where I’d constantly be sitting front of my vanity trying on different coloured eyeshadows (my personal favourite was a bright yellow hue). My mum would give me some bits she didn’t want, and I used to spend my pocket money picking up cheap stuff I could afford.
However, my parents (my dad especially) never liked me wearing makeup out of the house, so I never really did. I think there was a year or two when I had really bad skin and used concealer, but even that didn’t last.
When I was 18, I moved abroad to go to university. I thought that that would change how I did a lot of things, but in the end, it didn’t by much. I still didn’t wear any makeup day to day. However, I bought some essential pieces and I’d doll myself up when I was going out for the night with my mates. I loved getting compliments when I was wearing a bright lipstick or a bit of foundation.
But I was wary of wearing it daily. It’s mostly because I see how some of my friends act like they can’t even go to the corner shop without some makeup on. I also don’t like it when people will ask someone they’re used to seeing with makeup on if they’re sick when they have a bare face.
A couple of years ago, I started getting into makeup again. My collection, which had previously fit into a single (albeit not small) makeup bag had now ballooned as I bought a bunch of stuff. I was still careful of what I bought, researched or made damn sure I wanted it.
Last July, I started Intermittent Makeup. It’s all about my beauty philosophy – which is still not everyday makeup, but more often than before. I reach for my foundation when I want to make an effort or going to an event.
Most days go like this for me: I wake up too late to do anything but brush my teeth and get dressed. I don’t have breakfast (I grab a cup of tea and some biscuits when I get into work) so I certainly don’t have time to put makeup on. I work as a journalist, so often I have to head out to press conference, junkets, interviews and other events. When I do, I normally pop into the ladies’ room, put some concealer, powder and something on my lips. It usually takes about two or three minutes before I’m out the door.
If I’m going for a fuller look, I tend to use a light-to-medium coverage base (my current two on rotation which I love are the YSL Touche Eclat and the Dior BB Creme), concealer, powder (I have pretty oily skin), blush, a tiny bit of eyeliner on my lower lashline and I’ll curl my lashes. I skip mascara most of the time, unless I really want to have my eyes stand out.
That’s pretty much it!
NARS Creamy Concealer in Custard, Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Sheer Powder in No. 10, NARS Tinted Moitsurer in Alaska depotted.
From left, Dior Addict Lip Glow Colour Awakening Lipbalm, Chanel Rouge Coco Shine in #66 Bel Ami, Shiseido Perfect Rouge Tender Sheer in PK327, Kona Kare lip balm
Sleek blush in Coral, NARS blush in Sin and & Other Stories blush in Canvas Taupe
Some items are shown in more detail in the other pics, but I also always carry a hand sanitiser (Hand Maid by Soap & Glory is my favourite), hand cream (this one’s the Caudalie), the Caudalie Beauty Elixir (which I adore), an eyeliner in case I want a little definition (this Rimmel ScandalEyes in Bronze is HG), and some perfume in a Travelo. Also some uninteresting tidbits, including some eye drops, tissues, blotting paper, floss and spare contacts.

Love the contents of her makeup bag! 🙂 Love Nosy Beauty. It’s something I look forward to every week.
Thanks (for liking my makeup bag). And thanks Carina for the feature!
Thank you always for reading, Ray. 🙂 I think you’ll like the next couple of features I have!
Hehe I loved reading Laala’s post even though I’ve seen her makeup bag in person, still so much fun 🙂
Heh, you’ve probably had more of a rummage through my makeup than anyone else x
It’s true, I could definitely guess what was going to be in this post, but fun to see you pop up here ! 🙂
Yay! 😀

She has such beautiful eyebrows! O.O And I can relate with her, in that people ask me if I’m sick when I don’t have lipstick on, my lips are naturally very pale, thank you, anemia :))
I think so too! Oh no, I hope you’re OK, but happy that lipstick makes it better, somewhat!
Aww, thanks, Alyssa! And it sucks when people ask if you’re sick when you’re not. I’m mildly anemic too — it’s not fun.
