Sample Stash Sunday: Femme Fatale Sampler Pack

Femme Fatale - Sampler Packs

One of my resolutions this year (that I seem to be following to a ‘T’…) is to try and discover more indie and local cosmetics companies. They are usually cruelty-free (sometimes even vegan!) which ties in to my whole transition to CF cosmetics. One of the more prominent brands I’ve been seeing around is Femme Fatale. I think this operation might be bigger than most indie companies, but I still wanted to try them since they seem to be quite popular in the indie cosmetics realm. Luckily, they had a 10-Sampler Pack, which I snatched up immediately.

My order came a few weeks later in a simple letter envelope from Australia. I got my 10 samples (8 eyeshadows, 2 blushes) and a free eyeshadow sample.

Femme Fatale - Sampler Pack - Freebie

This is the freebie! 🙂 It’s called Darkmist and it is a “deep red toned brown base with intense violet blue shimmer and teal sparkles.” Totally up my alley. I’m glad this was included.

These are the two blushes I got. Violet Veil is a “cool toned orchid purple with a soft violet shimmer that compliments the base colours.” Tranquil is a “soft beige-based coral blush with a hint of dusty rose, and has a subtle copper duochrome shine.”

(P.S. I kind of like how descriptive and nuanced their colors are. This is a continuation of Violet Veil‘s product listing: “Overly blending will create a richer pink tone with this blush due to base ingredients. This blush has a lower level of pigmentation compared to our oxide-based blushes, and while it does apply well (especially over foundation or primer) so please avoid harsh blending of this product. We recommend a light dusting on the cheeks for a healthy glow.”

It gives me the impression that they know their products well and would like their customers to know this information, too.)

Femme Fatale - Sampler Pack - Packs 2

Blood’s Shadow is a “black based shade full of gold, blue and pink sparkles.” Lady of the Red is a “black based shade filled with red shimmers and sparks – makes for a fabulous upper lash liner when foiled!” Sugar Rush is a “bright blue-toned purple with soft turquoise-green shimmer.”

Femme Fatale - Sampler Pack - Packs 3

Ancient Traitor is a “pale baby pink with a very soft blue duochrome finish; suitable for highlighting.” Amber Eyes is a “very pale coral with peach and pink tones, and a subtle green finish.” Sour Suckerpop is a “pale lemon shade with a frosty blue duochrome finish. Sheer and great for highlighting.”

Femme Fatale - Sampler Pack - Packs 4

Bone Dust is a “pale taupe with coppery pink shimmer and sparks.” The Masquerade “looks like a soft, silvery grey with very subtle pink shimmer in the jar, yet when applied the base comes out more purple/blue and the pink shift is also more noticeable.”

I think it’s quite a mauve-y color. It’s similar to Bone Dust but is definitely more purple/blue, like FF described.

Here are some swatches, over bare skin. I used a Q-Tip so the swatches are skinnier than usual. I also grouped them according to type, and then collection:

Here are some lewks I’ve done with them.

LOOK #3: Sour Suckerpop on inner 2/3 of lid, Amber Eyes on outer third of lid and inner half of lower lash line, Blood’s Shadow as a liner, on the outer third of lid and lower lash line.

Femme Fatale - Amber Eyes, Blood's Shadow, Sour Suckerpop - Face

The iridescence of Amber Eyes is so pretty on the lower lash line. I love Sour Suckerpop, but I feel like it will benefit from a white sticky base. As is, over primer, it looks a little lackluster because the neon yellow is missing.

I’m super happy I took the plunge and gave these a try. If you are into shifty~ duochromes and hidden sparkles, but are averse to an overload of glitter, try Femme Fatale’s eyeshadows! Their shades are really something else, though I think they would benefit from a base, just to show off their full complexity.

  1. I love these sheeny hallucinatory-iridescent looks! *_* Especially Sugar Rush and Amber Eyes on your lower lashline. Thanks so much for reviewing these — I was looking at FF a few years ago but gave up for lack of information. And because ALREADY HAZ ALL THE OTHER MAKEUPS. Really appreciate their attention to detail 😀

    • HEE I KNEW YOU WOULD LIKE THESE. Sometimes I wonder if they translate onto the lid like I want them to, though, or if I just get reeled in by the swatches 😦

    • I think they’re one of the more eco-conscious countries/continents 🙂 As far as I know, Australian brands are cruelty-free!

      • They were pretty ahead of the game 30 years ago with lots of things like child car seats for a start so good for Oz!!

  2. These look really great on you!!! I think I’ve heard of FF but I’ve never really looked in to them but its wonderful that they’re so informative, I couldn’t help noticing the label even tells you what is and isn’t lip safe 🙂 The more and more I read your posts the more I contemplate a transition to CF products.

    • CF is actually pretty possible, but it’s just hard when you’re used to buying makeup from non-CF brands or if you’ve found an HG product that you can’t seem to replace.

I love your brows in look #2. Did you do something with it? 🙂 can’t wait for your narsissist palette review cause I want that too! (*Giddy face here)

    • Thank you, lol. My brows are honestly the parts that I don’t really take care doing :/ I just kind of haphazardly draw them on and call it a day~ I’m trying to be better at it, though! I’ve posted the review of the NARSissist palette already; not sure if you saw it. Did you end up getting it? 🙂

These shadows look amazingly pretty on you, but then again, you’re really so pretty that everything looks good on you. I love that some of these shadows shimmer without any obvious glitter.

I would hesitate to get this sample pack though – just seems like it would too messy for a klutz like me. No doubt, I would end up with shadow all over me but I love me a good indie brand.

    • Aw, thank you! They come in pots, too! I just thought this was a great way to try out the brand since it’s very new to me. 🙂

  5. These ‘butterfly’ colors are amazing! Yeahp. That’s what I call them because they look like butterfly wings. Their black ones are especially complicated, they look AWESOME! Also liking your eye liner learning curve. Your looks look so much more refined!

    • Hee! They’re pretty no? Thank you! I feel like I’ve been sucking at it lately. 😦 So hard and I’m so lazy to take care doing them, but I know I have to cos my eyes are uneven. 😦
