There are just some products that you keep on going back to again and again. Not because they’re exciting or new, but because they are reliable. Here are some of my ol’ reliables—my workhorses—that somehow find themselves in my routine almost without fail.
More often than not, I just use the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer as my base. Then again, I’ve just been a lazy daisy these days…ies, heh. This concealer is wonderful because it dispenses a lot of pigment but is easy to apply and blend out. It also doesn’t really crease on me much, but I always set it with the Le Métier de Beauté Eye Brightening and Setting Powder.
For eyes, I’ve been using the Le Métier de Beauté True Colour Eye Shadow in Tamarack, which is this cool matte brown, for my crease work. It’s not half bad as a contour either! For an all-over lid shade that’s fuss-free and beautiful, though, my go-to is the shu uemura eyeshadow in ME medium brown 885, which is a beautiful warm reddish brown that needs no primer to work and last on your lids. I pair that with a slick of liquid liner like this one by Dolly Wink and I curl my lashes with my shu uemura eyelash curler.
For cheeks, I know I can rely on the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Exposed for a natural flush of color that goes with pretty much everything. I’ve been using this quite often for about a year or so, and it doesn’t even look like I’ve touched it as the etchings are still there. Lastly, for the lips, I’ve been reaching for my tube of the NARS Pure Matte Lipstick in Montego Bay, which is the perfect “natural” shade for me. Like Exposed, Montego Bay goes with pretty much anything.
That’s it! Some of my other “workhorses” are my MAC Paint Pots, particularly Groundwork, Painterly and Bare Study, all of my brow products, as well as my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powders, which I use pretty much all the time.

Interesting colors you’ve got there. Wonder if I can pull off that tarte blush…
Try it! It suits most people. 🙂 It’s a very agreeable color, hehe. Hard not to be able to pull it off, IMO.
That NARS concealer is a workhorse for me too:) LOVES it. It can honestly do anything – cover acne, conceal dark circles, do my taxes, vacuum… the list is endless.
Right? Have you noticed it oxidizing on you? I feel like it’s been oxidizing on me lately.
No, not so much. But at the end of the day I’m not nearly as matte as I would like to be using this (nearly) all over my face under powder…
The only product that I use everyday is my in2it brow powder. I use revlon nearly naked pressed powder and the face shop lovely me:ex angel skin powder compact interchangeably. So I guess those are my workhorses 🙂
Yay, thanks for sharing. 🙂
I swear by most of these products! I definitely go back to them over and over again.

The point of all my makeup purchases is to find just the workhorses. So far, I don’t have any. Because I think blogging made me smarter and all my old staples are suddenly not good enough, and all my former wish lists weren’t as good as I imagined them to be. Right now, the only thing I’d buy again and again is Kate’s super sharp liquid liner.
Talaga?? D: IDK I’m pretty happy with a lot of my stuff. It’s weird though, I used the NARS concealer the other day and felt like it was too peach or warm on me or something. I really don’t understand my skin tone.
I think the only things I use daily are the things I only have one of: I have one undereye concealer and one spot concealer. One eyelash curler, one brow gel. I usually only use one or two mascaras at a time. Everything else, it’s kind of whatever I feel like using at the time!
I am terrible at limiting my open mascaras! I have 5 in rotation right now D:
I’m always afraid they’re going to go bad before I use it up. :S I also hate buying mascara all the time. It feels like a never ending search for that perfect one. 😛
Ahhh in a weird fit, I opened ALL of my mascaras yesterday, lol. I’m not sure why I did that, tbh!
There are only a few things I rely on, the NARS Deep Throat blush, Za Perfect Fit Concealer and Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade.
That’s a great selection. 🙂
