Sample Stash Sunday: One Love Organics Sample Packs

I placed another order at Eco Diva Beauty some time ago, and after being thoroughly impressed by the few things I had picked up previously from One Love Organics, I decided to test out the two available sampler packs from the brand, since they were both under $10. Prior to my recent Korean experiments, I’ve used few combinations of the items for the last few weeks, and here are some of my thoughts:

Elizabeth Dehn for One Love Organics Sample Pack ($6)

This sample pack contains 4 sample-sized items from the Elizabeth Dehn collaboration with One Love Organics, which is a line that advocates “active moisture!” This pack includes single use samples of Active Moisture Vitamin C Serum, Vitamin E Eye Balm, Vitamin B Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover and Vitamin D Time Release Facial Mist.

Although it’s explicitly stated that these are “single-use” samples, I’ve been able to get about 3-4 uses out of the Vitamin B Cleansing Oil, the Time Release Vitamin D Moisture Mist, and the Vitamin C Serum. I already have the full-size of the Vitamin E Eye Balm (which I love), so I’m keeping this sample size unused for my upcoming trip.

Elizabeth Dehn For One Love Organics - Sample Pack

Time Release Vitamin D Moisture Mist
I quite enjoyed this one. It’s a “time-release system” (not sure how) that is supposed to keep your skin hydrated for a longer period of time because of the prolonged delivery of the active ingredients. It’s a great extra step to prep the skin before your regular moisturizer or to finish of your makeup. It’s got pretty interesting ingredients, too, like shiitake mushroom. This is definitely on my to-buy list when I run out of my current sprays and toners, but I’m a little wary because it has Alpine rose extracts, and I have a feeling that my skin doesn’t react well to rose ingredients.

Vitamin C Serum
I like these serum but not as much as I like the Morning Glory Brightening Complexion Booster (scroll down to the other sampler pack for more details). It seems really heavy-duty, though. As a 100% active face serum (!), it’s filled with antioxidants and “an ultra-concentrated combination of vitamins A, C, D & E and antioxidants from organic green tea oil and sea buckthorn oil,” and fatty acids. I think this is best for use when you need to take more care of your skin.

Vitamin B Cleansing Oil & Makeup Remover
I liked this a lot—it removed even my heavy eye makeup and cleansed really well. Unlike most natural cleansing oils I’ve tried, this one actually emulsifies, though it doesn’t turn as milky as brands like shu uemura or DHC. Still, it’s a great alternative to more commercial cleansing oils if you want a cleaner ingredient list. It can also be used as a “wipe-away” cleansing oil, too, if that’s more your thing.

Vitamin E Eye Balm
La-la-la-love! This is a solid “waterless” balm that you kind of warm with your fingers. It delivers intense hydration and “a powerful blend of vitamins A,D & E.” Though this eye cream claims to brighten (it doesn’t really, for me, but it might be because of my sleeping habits, too), I love it most for its hydration and effectiveness against the fine lines under my eyes. I try not to use this every night, as it feels a little too heavy duty for my skin, so I alternate this and my other less moisturizing eye creams.

VERDICT: Would repurchase 2/4 products, on the fence about 1.

One Love Organics Essentials Sample Pack ($5)

This next sample pack is made up of their “essentials,” regular range and consists of single use samples of Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser, Brand New Day Microderma Scrub and Masque, Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm, Morning Glory Brightening Complexion Booster, and Love Springs Eternal Youth Preservation Serum.

One Love Organics Sample Pack

Brand New Day Microderma Scrub and Masque
This is amazing—a powder that you can use as a scrub (by mixing it with a bit of warm water to make it into a paste, like how you use Kaolin Clay masks) or as a mask (by mixing in honey or Greek yogurt). It doesn’t have exfoliants like sand or apricot shells, but it makes use of fresh pineapple enzymes—a known natural exfoliant. I tried it as a honey mask recently, and it left my face feeling super soft and smooth. I’ve placed an order for a deluxe size of this one, because I had such a great experience with it.

Skin Savior Waterless Beauty Balm
As a lover of multi-purpose products, this was an instant win for me. It’s a very emollient balm made of several oils that can a) remove your makeup, b) cleanse your skin, c) moisturize, d) illuminate, e) be used as a hair-taming wax), and f) be mixed in with your mineral foundation for a face base. I mean, wow right? I’ve ordered the deluxe size of this already (there’s a bigger size, but I don’t want to commit 100% just yet). It’s a real skin savior, let me tell you! I love the smell, too.

Easy Does It Foaming Cleanser
This seems to be a cult OLO fave, but I don’t love it as much as people seem to. It’s a pretty standard face cleanser, but you need quite a bit of product for it to actually foam. I had a good experience with this, but nothing mind blowing that I’ll replace my Human Nature facial wash. If it were more readily available, I might spring for it, though.

Morning Glory Brightening Complexion Booster
This is the product I’ve already extensively tried and love. This is amazing and has turned me into a rabid face oil nut. Its ingredients work to “brighten, depuff, and help protect your skin.” There is a pretty short list of ingredients, which was a bit less intimidating for me (compared to the Elizabeth Dehn serum). I use it as a night treatment and I wake up with skin that I actually like. I’ve used this during the day, too, but I end up a bit too shiny.

Love Springs Eternal Youth Preservation Serum
I feel like this broke me out, to be honest—and I rarely break out aside from the occasional pimple or two. It’s the only sample that I’m not too keen on finishing up (because I’m scared of it). Either way, I don’t feel compelled to break out the “anti-aging” stuff just yet, so this is not quite a repurchase for me.

VERDICT: Would repurchase 3/5 products.

Final Thoughts

I’m definitely glad that these sample packs exist, because I’m kind of purchase-happy sometimes, and it saved me a ton of cash and grief over products I thought would work out, but didn’t quite really (i.e. Cleansing Oil, Love Springs Eternal, and Vitamin C Serum). I also got to try some products I know I will love. Aside from my lucky initial purchases that inspired this order (Morning Glory Serum and Vitamin E Eye Balm), I am over the moon for the Skin Savior Beauty Balm and the Brand New Day Masque.

I think these are great additions to an Eco Diva Beauty order you’re putting together, but I won’t personally spring for them if I wasn’t getting anything else, mainly because of international shipping costs.

All in all, a great deal and a wonderful experience with a green beauty brand I’m falling more in love with every day. 🙂
