MAKE Colour Celeste e Verde Palette*

I first saw the MAKE Colour Celeste e Verde Palette* on Bea‘s Instagram, which rekindled my interest in the brand. Celeste e Verde was created by Maryam Nassir Zadeh and Ozzy Salvatierra for MAKE.

The Celeste e Verde (Sky Blue and Green) makeup collection is inspired by Antonioni’s 1964 film “Red Desert.” It reflects a woman and her style in life: a life that feels spiritual, artful and authentic. The palette is a colourful mix of contemporary pastels, fiery brights and seaside blues. Colors are nostalgic, fresh and natural.

I looked at some stills of Red Desert and this entire collection is a spitting image of that color story.

Am I right or am I right? Red Desert is Italian director’s Antonioni’s first film in full color. I haven’t seen it, but these stills and this palette is making me want to. “Shot in Technicolor, the director’s first color film was intended to be interpreted as a painting and inspired Nassir Zadeh’s approach to a more contemporary, LA-set video work. The concept collection reflects a woman and her style in life: a life that feels spiritual, artful and authentic.”

This palette is perfectly split between matte eyeshadows and matte lipsticks, which is great for actually keeping the lipstick pans clean. I haven’t actually experienced any eyeshadow bits migrating into the lipstick pans in my other MAKE palettes, but this one is pretty full-proof!

There are four matte eyeshadow shades: Celeste, a cool pale blue, Palermo, a marigold yellow with a green undertone, Brick, a warm brown with red undertone, and Earth, a neutral medium brown with yellow undertone.

The four matte lipstick shades are Tulipa, a Hockney-inspired pink, Coral, a muted orange with red undertones, Tangerine, a bright orange with yellow undertones, and Fire, a rich red with yellow undertones.

All of the shades are available as singles, though I can’t seem to find a lot of the matte shades online anymore.

LOOK 1: I used all of the eyeshadows in this look… and I kind of really love it? Lips are Coral. I’m going to post about this look soon!

Rest of the makeup: Happy Skin ZZ Zit Zapper Cream, Maybelline Fashion Brow 24H Coloring Mascara (Dark Brown)*, MAKE Transforming Eye Primer*, Pixy Perfect Eyeliner (Black)*, Physician’s Formula Youthful Wear Cosmeceutical Youth-Boosting Powder (Translucent Matte Finish), Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara*, Chanel Joues Contraste (Frivole), ILIA Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner (Blossomy Lady)

LOOK 3: I used a bit of &Other Stories’ Percaline Khaki on the lid over Palermo, Celeste, and Brick (because they weren’t showing up the way I wanted them to) and I deepened the outer 1/3 with Earth from the palette. On my lips is Tulipa from the palette. 🙂

Rest of the makeup: NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer (Ginger), K-Palette 24H Real Lasting 2-Way Eyebrow Liner (101)*, Urban Decay Primer Potion, Rimmel ScandalEyes Kohl (Black), Le Métier de Beauté Peau Vierge Anti-Aging Pressed Powder (Shade 2), Pixy Volumizing Waterproof Mascara*, Kjaer Weis Cream Blush (Abundance), Ettusais Lip Essence

MAKE eyeshadows are really powdery and soft in pigmentation, but you can build it up. They blend really well, and stay put but they don’t stay as vibrant as when you put them on. I really like that a) you can build them up, and b) you can wear them sheer, because that means that a palette as unconventional as this will get a lot of wear, even if it may not seem so at first.

The matte lipsticks are absolutely wonderful! I hope they make the bullets available again, because these are truly beautiful colors.

The sleeve of Celeste e Verde is a photo of what looks to be a beach in California or somewhere similarly sunny. It’s really pretty and matches the inside of the palette. To be honest, the only sleeve I have that I don’t believe matches the inside is the Post-Impressionism one.

My experience with these MAKE Colour Palettes just makes me want to get the last one I have yet to try—the New Medieval Palette. They’re just really something else! A little finnicky, but I am just so in love with their whole schtick here that I want to buy everything they have. Like a crazy person.

I’ve got a few more MAKE bits to show, and I predict that I’ll be coming home from my trip with even more of them on hand. What can I say? I am really smitten.

  1. Your blogging about these MAKE palettes is making me really want one! I usually prefer my eyeshadows super pigmented because I’m too lazy to build it up in layers, but I can see the value in wearing some of these colors sheer.

    • I realized at some point that I didn’t ALWAYS like super pigmented eyeshadow, esp. some of the Urban Decay ones that sorta come off in chunks when I tap on them. I looove layering shades. 😀

  2. Wow – I’ve never heard of this brand before but I’m loooving the concept behind the palette!

The colour combinations you made your eyes up with are gorgeous – I think in this case the softer pigmentation works so well as the looks are all so dreamy… ❤

I'll have to google the brand and find out a bit more about them! 🙂

  3. Thanks to your reviews, I’ve been looking into MAKE recently and I’m in love with the way they use artistic and historical inspirations! The item that stood out to me was the New Medieval palette, though I wish the oranges and browns were eyeshadows instead of lipsticks. I’m just not gonna wear three different shades of warm-toned tan on my lips.

Also, I was in & Other Stories just yesterday and I didn’t get Percaline Khaki! DAMN IT. Now I want to go back…

    • I ended up getting the palette, eep. The lipsticks are great cream blushes!! I think they COULD be great eye bases, but don’t quote me on that, hehe. 🙂 The lipsticks in the NM palette are quite varied, too!

      GO BAAAAAAACK.

Hello Carina. Your online purchases don’t seem to be affected by the ongoing Manila port congestion. 🙂 I’ve stopped buying makeup online since my office colleagues reported 2-month shipping delays. Have you experienced any delays in your orders? Who’s your courier? Thank you. 🙂

    • I use USA2Everywhere or FRS. 🙂 I don’t usually go through the local post unless my purchases aren’t “time-sensitive” or over $50.
