I often add a space in my calendar to put in a “monthly favorites,” though I don’t always have “enough” products to show that would warrant an entire post. This is especially true for the month of October, most of which I spent in a different country. I do have a couple of skin favorites and mainstays that are similar to that of the last favorites post I did, but I hope you guys don’t mind if I also share some recent finds that I have been loving lately.
One Love Organics Brand New Day Scrub & Masque
This powder is to be mixed with water (to act as a scrub) or Greek yogurt/honey (to use as a mask). When I remember to use this—just about twice a week—my skin feels so refreshed and clean after. This will definitely be a mainstay in my routine. I just wish it were a bit easier for me to get.
La Roche-Posay Redermic R and Redermic R Eyes
This range is an anti-aging treatment that contains retinol, which has been really good for my skin, in my experience. I have only been using this for about a week and a half and I already see results in terms of my skin’s overall texture. I do think that the concentration of retinol in this might be a bit harsher than the one I’ve used before, so I’m limiting this to every other or every two nights. The eye corrector is to be used in the mornings and I quite like it, too.
Ellis Faas Skin Veil*
A recent favorite, but I hope it counts! I was surprised at this foundation because I wore it and didn’t even have to keep on checking to see if I was getting oily or greasy. My skin type is dry, but I live in a humid country, so I do look a bit oily at some point during the day. By the third check—with still no need to powder my nose!—I was impressed and stopped worrying about it altogether. Full review soon.
Wet n Wild Take On the Day Eyeshadow Primer
I struggled a lot with this. For no real reason. I think I didn’t want to keep hoarding but part of me wanted to see if this was as good as or better than my eye primer fave, the Urban Decay Primer Potion. Mostly because it is tons cheaper. And guess what? It’s even a little bit better than UDPP. On me, at least, and my lids get more creases than a thousand paper cranes. So glad I tried this because it is the bomb.
Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Abundance
Sorry for featuring this again. Except I’m not really sorry because this is a beautiful blush! Kind of my favorite, actually. I love this Kjaer Weis cream blush formula, except I don’t even want to look for more shades because I got the best one already.
ILIA Beauty Tinted Lip Conditioner in Dizzy
Dizzy is a shade that I was the most apprehensive about when I bought a crapton of ILIA products. Funnily enough, this is what I was reaching for a lot during the tail-end of our trip. It’s an easy color to wear that’s at once bright and fun. It looks lovely when layered with other lip shades, too.
Commodity Goods Moss
I was deadset on getting the new Jo Malone scent (Wood Sage! Sea Salt!) because I smelled it in Neiman Marcus and swooned… and then when I went back for it, I realized that it smelled more like citrus than anything. And not even an interesting citrus note; I felt like I smelled like a department store. And then I just keep coming back to this. I realized that not a lot of accessible scents are “androgynous” or “unisex,” but this one is and that’s probably why I like it a lot. Just having this made me quit my Scent Search early. Then I just basked in this one… because it is absolutely perfect.
Sofie Lunøe Necklace
Surprisingly a favorite, considering it’s silver. But I’ve been wearing it a lot whenever I feel like a need a necklace that’s a little bit louder than all the other ones I usually wear, but at the same time, still quite neat-looking and not too frilly.
Franz Kafka Tote by Out of Print
I have a confession: I’ve never read Metamorphosis (I tried!) or The Castle. I bought this tote because I judged it by its covers. Specifically these ones designed by Peter Mendelsund. I attended a talk he had at McNally Jackson back in September, and he had this with him… and I saw it a few days later at NYPL and nabbed it because, duh. That is how I do.
And that’s it! I managed to make a non-beauty/style favorites post over here, in case you would be interested in that. I don’t know why I made my blogs separate (JK, I know why), but if you’re into travel, art, music, and literature, please visit my “main blog,” Nothing Spaces.
As for goals, here they are:
- Make an effort to make your hair look nice.
- Use up a lipstick. Just for kicks… or for my undoing.
- Take care of skin.
I don’t really have a lot of beauty goals in mind… Maybe just “don’t go into debt.” Or “stop buying seriously stop.” Just kidding, I am very zen about my purchasing. And I think I am disciplined enough.

Always love your favourites posts, so many lovely under-the-radar brands I really really want to get my greedy hands on!
Thank you so much. :3 I have a weird gravitation towards under-the-radar brands, and I love discovering new things. Glad I am not alone 😀
HAHAA I LOVE using up lipsticks!
I’ve NEVER used up a lipstick, so this will be new!
I can relate to taking care of the skin.
I’m quite interested in La Roche Posay eye creams 🙂
It’s amazing!
One more post with a Kjaer Weis Cream Abundance Blush and I’m so getting it.
Haha it is really great! I honestly think I could probably live the rest of my life with just this blush.
