FOTD: Plum Chocolate

My Face of the Day for today, but after about six hours of wear, because that was the only time I thought to take photographs. I used just a few products (which I will post a picture of below). Even though the makeup’s slightly faded, I think you can still kind of see where I wanted to go with it. I used the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette for Eyes (review and swatches here). After priming my lids with Etude House Proof 10 Eye Primer, I started with colors! In terms of “simple diagramming,” I used a light taupe-y color as a lid wash (Sable), a dark chocolate brown for the outer “v” (Chocolate), and a bit of a lavender grey (Plum Smoke) on the outer crease. A light matte cream (Vanilla Nuts) was used for a highlight on the browbones. I don’t usually use eyeliner, so as you can see I fudged up on one eye! But, in case you care, I used K-Palette 24H Real Lasting Eyeliner, which is awesome for people who suck …

FOTD: Young Star Yearbook + pre-TNAD

I posted my FOTD for the Tama na ang Drama launch, but what I didn’t say was that that was what I wore to a photoshoot for a Young Star feature. We were told to wear “picnic clothes,” so I stuck to practicality (lol) and wore cargo pants, a nice, breezy white top, and a scarf for, I don’t know, flair or something. Anyway, just posting this FOTD again, because my lipstick choice is more apparent here, in this outtake: Lips: NARS Sheer Lipstick (Vendanges) In case you want to read the write-up, you may do so here. If you want to see the rest of the look, click here.

FOTD: El Cirkulo

FOTD + WIWT(o) a dinner at El Cirkulo! It was my first time eating there, so Sarie took the reins and ordered Beef Belly, Bone Marrow, and Paella Negra. Best beef belly I have tasted, as well as the best bone marrow. I have sampled the ones in Wildflour and Lusso, and El Cirkulo’s is so far the best I have tried. The bone marrow comes with a whole bone (shin? leg? I don’t really know) split in half, some yummy beef stew, toasted bread and some sea salt. You scoop a bit of the beef stew on to the toast, then top it off with a spoonful of bone marrow and a sprinkling of salt. Delicious. “The best beef belly in all the land.” — Sarie Cruz Mmm, food, get in my belleh! I wore my Degas ballerina necklace for the first time that day. 🙂 Sarie! 🙂 On our way to karaoke! Now, onto the makeup: I feel like this was when I decided to stop wearing foundation. On my eyes, it’s MAC …

Holiday Looks: Good Ol’ Red & Gold

I wore this look one day while on vacation in Italy. I had only brought a NARS eyeshadow trio to use for a month (AH!) so when we came across cheap Italian brand, Kiko Milano, I wore a look that’s almost entirely made up of the products I had picked up in Venice. Featured are the Eyetech Look (automatic eyeshadow) in 03 Oro, or gold, and the Water Eyeshadow in 203 Borgogna, or Burgundy, a combination which pretty much screams “Holiday Look!” to me. Both eye products were bought on the cheap (especially cheap in Italy), but the quality is pretty good. On the cheeks is NARS Orgasm, aka the only blush I brought with me, and on the lips: another KIKO product, the Shiny Pearl Lipstick in 193 Beige Nudo. For this post, I decided to recreate the look and post the same eye with a different lip, more suited for holiday festivities. 🙂 Pardon the haphazardly way this look was “recreated.” By the time I had done enough work for me to not …

FOTD: Tama na ang Drama

FOTD and WIWT the launch of Ang Bandang Shirley’s newest album, Tama na ang Drama. Like I said, I’ve been staying away from foundation and tinted moisturizer. I don’t remember putting concealer, either. I used Benefit’s Lemon Aid as my primer. Eyes: Guerlain Écrin 4 Couleurs (Turandot), The Body Shop Brow Kit, Shu Uemura x Karl Lagerfeld Painting Liner (Blackish Satin Purple), Majolica Majorca Lash Expander Frame Plus 12 Cheeks: NARS Blush (Sin) Lips: (leftover) NARS Sheer Lipstick (Vendanges) In other news, I have found my lid condition, the reason for my frustration (aside from oiliness)—hooded lids! Shari from The Misty Mom blogged about it, and I said, “Ugh, so that’s my problem!” Hooded lids seem to be the enemy of eyeshadow, so now I’m looking for tips for hooded-lid makeup! 😦 Photos by Sarie, of course!

How Exceptional is the Rouge G L’Extrait’s “Exceptional Hold”?: A Special FOTD Review

I know I said I was on a makeup ban, but what do you expect me to do when my Guerlain SA, Jean, texts me about a 30% off sale. “Resist like a responsible adult, Carina,” you might say. Unfortunately, I can’t hear you as I’m drowning in lipstuff happiness. See, my friend Gracie, keeps asking me if I plan on buying any shades from Guerlain’s Rouge G L’Extrait line. And I’m just always so puzzled by the persistence. I mean, what’s so great about this lip gloss, really? What about it would make me want to drop $48 on one color? Pretty steep, if you ask me. That said, I don’t think I would ever buy it at original price, unless I had a more stable and higher-paying income. For a 30% off sale, though, I think I can forgive myself. So, the Rouge G L’Extrait by Guerlain is a line of “lip colour” that they released pretty recently, in August 2012. It’s a “lip colour” because it looks like a gloss—with a doe-foot …

Make That Face: Basic Neutral (Shimmery) Eye

Okay, so every time I feel stress creeping up on me, I turn to my beauty blog and think of something that I can post. You know, to de-stress and to avail of its strangely therapeutic effects. (Have you tried blogging? It’s very relaxing.) I thought of doing a step-by-step tutorial, just because I want to practice and also because you guys seem to like that! I noticed that a lot of people shy away from eye makeup, aside from the standard eyeliner and mascara, but you don’t have to be afraid anymore. Really, it’s one of the funnest parts of my routine. So, here’s an eyelook that I did, using only colors from theBalm’s Nude ‘Tude Palette, the brush it comes along with, as well as the eyeshadow brush from the RealTechniques Travel Essentials Set, which I just love so much. Because I wanted to play with the palette moreso than I usually did, I ended up using seven shades (I forgot to box Snobby!), most of which weren’t what I had been using …
