Quickie: Mattify Your Lipsticks with MAKE by We See Beauty

I wasn’t planning on talking about this just yet but when something great compels you, you tell the world about it. By ‘world,’ I mean my readership. Heh. Anyway, matte lipsticks… are kind of a tricky subject, I feel. I personally love matte lips, but a lot of people have said that they can be drying etc. Sometimes, I’ll even find a color I like that would be perfect, save for the glossy shininess. Anyway, I was looking at We See Beauty’s site, mainly for their cosmetics line, MAKE. I posted about them a long time ago but never got around to purchasing because they don’t accept credit cards outside the US. One night, my hankering for a palette led me to order from a third-party~ and now we are here. In case you were wondering, I picked up two other items, which I’ll talk about later, maybe. So back to the pencil. I have a MAKE Colour Super Matte Lip Pencil, which is basically “the ultimate lip adjuster.” It turns your lipsticks matte… or, …

Just Sheer with Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation

For months, I hemmed and hawed, thinking about whether or not I’d spring for this $68 foundation. Yes, $68. It’s kind of ridiculous—jk, it’s really ridiculous—but I’m kind of ridiculous, so there’s that. I have a few face bases already, but I wanted to try out Kjaer Weis because it’s pretty known in the green beauty world (and otherwise). The reason for the hefty price tag is the hefty compact, I’m guessing. All the Kjaer Weis products come in a “Refillable Make-Up System” that feature really heavy cases that remind me of my Guerlain Rouge G lipsticks and refillable compacts. In theory, there’s less waste and you can elect to go case-less if you really want to go minimal. There’s a refreshingly short list of ingredients for this cream foundation: Sweet Almond Seed Oil, Capylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coconut Oil, Corn Starch, Cera Alba, Carnauba Wax, Jojoba Seed Oil, Polyglyceryl-2 Diiososterate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Mica, Titanium Diocide, and some iron oxides for the pigment. It’s certified organic, too! The texture of this foundation is fairly light for a …

Le Métier de Beauté Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Gemini’s Kiss & a Beauty Vault VIP Recap

For the last and final month of the Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP Subscription, subscribers got a Kaleidoscope Lip Kit in Gemini’s Kiss, which features 8 lip colors (4 lipsticks & 4 crèmes or glosses) in split pans. I don’t have the individual names but I’ll email LMdB to ask then append this post if they are individually named! I wasn’t supposed to post this until much later. I just got this yesterday and haven’t been able to play with it much yet, but I wanted to get this post up because LMdB is closing their subs soon… and I wanted to show you what they’ve sent, so far, in case any of you are interested in subscribing to them. Here’s the last shipment for the first round, which went on from August 2013 to July 2014. Happy Eyebrows with K-Palette

I’ve been using the K-Palette brow marker since December 2012. I was exclusively using The Body Shop’s Brow & Liner Kit and wanted a change. It was an impulse buy, but one that stuck with me for a long time. Still, in that amount of time, I’ve only expanded to another shade of their 24H Real Lasting Eyebrow and did not venture out to other products in their eyebrow range. Some time last week, I received a few shades of two other brow products by K-Palette, the 24H Real Lasting Two Way Eyebrow Liner* and the 1 Day Tattoo Eyebrow Mascara*, and I’ve been using both alternately every day since getting them. 24H Real Lasting Two Way Eyebrow Liner The 24H Real Lasting Two Way Eyebrow Liner* is pretty close to my usual eyebrow routine. Usually, I draw over my natural eyebrow shape with the K-Palette eyebrow markers then run through them with a brow powder and an angled brush. In this unique contraption, there is a marker on one end, and a vial of …

Stashed & Forgotten: MAC Powder Blush in Ambering Rose

Here’s another “forgotten” item from my days of overpurchasing. (Oops.) It’s a MAC Sheertone Shimmer Powder Blush in Ambering Rose, described by MAC as a “muted rose.” I myself find it to be a bit more of a golden terracotta/brick-ish color. It’s warmer and more orange-leaning than what I consider to be a rose—not exactly a color I’d immediately spring for—but it looked like a cooler rose shade online.

Sample Stash Sunday feat. Benefit: BDJ Box 7 Day Challenge

I’m not sure for how long these monthly BDJ Box challenges run, but there was so much stuff to sample from the Benefit exclusive box by BDJ last month that I felt I should try and do it, so I could try everything out, at least! Here’s a diary I began some time in June. The products were used, collectively, for seven days. I tried to get a rotation going, but I missed using all my other makeup, too. 🙂 The eye cream was a mainstay, though, but I’ll put it out there right now—it wasn’t my favorite of the bunch! DAY ONE And on the first day, I used the It’s Potent! Eye Cream, and I saw that it was good. Intended for “brighter, younger-looking eyes,” It’s Potent! fades dark circles and helps smooth fine lines. I noticed that it has a more emollient texture than my current eye cream (Bobbi Brown Hydrating Eye Cream), but it also sinks in much faster and isn’t sticky. I’ll try to use this under makeup/concealer during this …

Mask Appeal: A Selection of Sheet Masks from Leaders InSolution*

I am a sheet mask nut. I love them so much. But of course, not all sheet masks were created equally. My favorites so far are the ones by The Beauty Buffet (available at Watson’s, sometimes on sale!) and Dermal (a bit pricier, but so good). I was really excited to see sheet masks in my BNTGirls Box this month. Leaders InSolution Sheet Masks* are known to be some of the best on the market. From the masks I received, two were “Premium Care,” these first two aren’t part of that range and come in a narrower packet. The first one I tried was the Collagen Lifting Skin Renewal Mask. It’s for skin firming and skin elasticity; this mask “helps recover younger-looking skin with revitalizing skin by supplying plenty of moisture.” This is what the mask looks like: And what the mask looks like on the face:
