Drugstore Finds: Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Peachy Scene*

Here’s a quick look at the Maybelline ColorSensational Lipstick in Peachy Scene* which I got from a BDJ Box a few months ago. The bullet will tell you how much I don’t use it. The color is actually really pretty, it’s just that the scent is quite overwhelming and the frost finish doesn’t help this lipstick’s case. Here are a couple of swatches. Peachy Scene is in between YSL Rouge Volupté Shine in Rose in Tension and MAC’s Betty Bright, from the Archie’s Girls collection. Rose in Tension is much darker and obviously rosier, whereas Betty Bright is a little lighter, pinker, and a ton brighter. I can’t say I’ll miss this from my collection, honestly. Because as lovely as the color is, I can’t get past the smell. It smells like vanilla frosting, which sounds amazing, I know, but I don’t like makeup that smells like baked goods. It doesn’t smell like your typical vanilla smell from MAC. Like, it smells like the baked good you’d use the vanilla for. LOL. Does that make …

Unboxing: BDJ Box July 2013*

Imagine my surprise when I got home to another BDJ Box for the month of July! When the team originally emailed me, I was supposed to get a certain number of boxes to try and I thought my BDJ time was up last month, but I counted wrong… HEH. So, I was so happy to get this month’s because I was eyeing that too cool for school BB Cream! This month’s box is freaking awesome, by the way. I’m so happy I was sent one. Thank you to the BDJ Box team. 🙂 And for my next trick—pictures!

Unboxing: BDJ Box for June 2013* & Thoughts on Subscription Boxes

I received my BDJ Box for June a few days ago, but I’ve only gotten around to writing this post now. I edited the pictures on my iPad Mini and am writing this post on the WordPress app. I’m already so tired of typing (because I keep making mistakes!) but let’s see how long I can keep this up. The June box is chock-full of stuff. Let’s see if they’re things that I’d enjoy. First up are three items from the L’Oreal Paris Fall Repair 3x Line: the shampoo (Php 110, 180ml), conditioner (Php 119, 180ml), and hair tonic (Php 259, 90ml). This line is designed to reduce hair fall by strengthening and nourishing your hair. If these look familiar, then you’ve been paying attention! Both the shampoo and conditioner were part of BDJ Box’s L’Oreal themed box a few months back, and they were bigger sizes then. I appreciate the inclusion of the tonic, but there’s just something about getting repeats that is disappointing, even if they are perfectly good products. Next up is …

Unboxing: BDJ Box May 2013*

Hello everyone! I’ve got a video unboxing for the May 2013 BDJ Box. If you recall, I’ve already unboxed a BDJ Box this month, but that was the BDJ Box Elite and I apparently was in for another surprise! Thanks, BDJ Box Team 😀 Here’s the video. I tried to make it as short as I possibly could, so I hope this is short enough. There were a lot of items to fit into the video, so it was a challenge, but a welcome one. I think this may be one of my favorite boxes. BDJ really hit the ball out of the park with this one, since it covered all the bases, pretty much. There is skin-care, makeup (like, a full face, practically!), and a plethora of fragrances to choose from. Interested in your own BDJ Box? You can subscribe in 1-month, 3-month, 6-month, and year-long increments here: http://bdjbox.com/ * This item was sent to me for editorial consideration. I was not compensated for or required to write this post. All opinions are 100% …

Unboxing: BDJ Box Elite* (May 2013)

Hello! It’s time once again for a BDJ Box post. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s a subscription service in the Philippines. This month, they sent out limited edition “BDJ Box Elite” boxes, which I am verver excited about. This box contains a lot of full-size products, as well as generous samples. None of that sachet nonsense! (JK I am mean, but really, small tubes rock.) The theme is “Summer Indulgence,” and for once I do think it fits the products inside. Instead of the folded-up card that usually comes with the box, the BDJ Elite Box has a collection of small cards that highlight a certain offering they have that month. They’re kind of like playing cards. 🙂 The nifty thing about these new cards is that they show you the original size and price, and the sample size they give and the calculated cost. That way, I don’t have to do any math! Ahava Essential Day Moisturizer — This is supposed to kind of bring out the skin’s natural moisture, and allow …

Unboxing: April BDJ Box*

For April, BDJ nixed the brand exclusives trend it was on (with Shiseido and L’Oreal) and gave its subscribers a mixed bag of stuff. Right off the bat, I have to say that the box had some heft to it, which sometimes translates to a good box. But, Heavy = Full-Size Products ≠ Good, so let’s see how well BDJ’s April box fared. I’ll list the products as they appear on my box card. This month’s theme is Oh, So Fresh! aimed at getting us psyched for “one super summer.” A bulk of the items will help you keep fresh in the summer months, and the rest are just fun bonuses. Sorry if I don’t have a photography~ set-up. I don’t even have a vanity table, so you get my work desk! 1. Bifesta Age Care Cleansing Lotion — Touted as Japan’s first water-based makeup remover, this mimics the effects of cleansing oils, minus the oil. The enclosed sample is not full-sized, but it’s priced at Php 419 for a 300ml bottle. I’m very excited …

Unboxing: BDJ Box for March 2013*

I was out yesterday and came home to the BDJ Box for March! Exciting. I wasn’t sent last month’s Shiseido bonanza, but BDJ Box has a lot of L’Oreal goodies this month that I’m sure a lot of subscribers would enjoy. OK, a head’s up: this month’s box is hefty. It was so heavy! I put two and two together and figured that they included full size hair products, and I was right! Here are full sizes of the Fall Repair Hair Shampoo (Php 110 for 180ml) and the Full Repair Hair Conditioner (Php 119 for 180ml), which are meant to nourish your hair and make them less fragile. I’m not too picky about hair products, and my hair “rejects” very few variants (the old Dove shampoo, par example), so these were OK things for me to get. Hair fall isn’t really a major problem for me. It was, but I fixed it with the red-capped L’Oreal shampoo. I’ve been using products from their new range—the Ever Strong shampoo and conditioner—which I love. It’s a …
