Trying on Illamasqua Pure Pigments

I grabbed two shades of the Illamasqua Pure Pigment from the aforementioned holiday sale. Pigments are definitely not high up on my list of “things to try,” but these popped up on my radar when Bea of The Dalaga Project made a beautiful look with the shade Incite and unknowingly proceeded tempt meh with other looks using the popular Ore. I don’t think the two other shades were included in the sale, and I resolved to only buy things that were which explains the lack of lipsticks and palettes, so I ended up with Furore and Static. These were priced £7.50 each, down from £16.50. I am in love with the packaging. It has a sort of pinched square shape that Illamasqua is known for. The lid kind of just fits on the container, and the product is dispensed via a small hole in the center. The lid has a small “stopper” on the inside that’s meant to prevent the pigment from flying out and about but customers have complained about it. I don’t really …

Illamasqua Cream Blushers

I picked up a few things from the Illamasqua super sale during the holidays and have been taking them out on a road test for the past month or so. These cream blushers went from £18 to £7.50 each, so I got three. Obviously… I have Promise, Rude, and Dixie, and they are all permanent shades.

Illamasqua Precision Ink in Wisdom

The Illamasqua Precision Ink in Wisdom is a product that I wish I used more. I ordered it a few months ago and I’m a little ashamed to admit that it hasn’t seen the outside world that much yet because it got lost in all of my makeup hoarding recent acquisitions. From Sephora: This long-wearing liquid liner comes with a fine tip that allows for defined application, making it perfect for creating a defined eye—or even painting designs on the body. The waterproof formula dries within seconds and stays true for hours. So, I want to bring your attention to the tip. It’s awesome for application because it’s quite stiff, so it doesn’t really flex much and bend all over the place. You can’t get a super fine line with it, but it’s a thin enough line for me, and I’ve found that I prefer this type of applicator over the thin, bendy brushes from the likes of e.l.f.’s liquid eyeliner (review) or Le Métier de Beauté’s Indelible Inks (review). I love this so much! …

Stash Shopping No. 4

Hello everyone, here’s this week’s edition of Stash Shopping! I accidentally posted the concealer post early (for those of you who saw it—sorry!), but this is actually what I had planned to post today. Like I did with the last S.S. post, I will post photos of some looks throughout the week. P.S. Maybelline Lipstick (Chestnut), MAC Lipglass (Flight of Fancy) on center of lips + L’Oreal Lucent Magique Liquid Foundation (N5), Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder (Luminous Light), K-Palette Real Lasting Eyeliner, The Body Shop Brow & Liner Kit (02) Wednesday, Brunch: Shiro (Victory Road) + Chanel Ombres Fleuries (Délicatesse, Purple shade) over LUSH Cream Shadow (Sophisticated). Be Bright: Illamasqua Lipstick in Immodest

Okay, so I hauled an Illamasqua lipstick a few months ago. It was called Immodest, and it was part of the I’mperfection collection last Spring. It’s a beautiful bright, light pink that looks almost neon and it is definitely not a color I would normally choose. It took a while for me to review because IT BROKE. I was trying to apply an even coat on my lips, and I guess I didn’t notice pressing too hard on the bullet and it snapped clean off! I only was able to fix it recently, being a lazy MacGyver and all. (Just kidding, it’s still broken. I am the WORST MacGyver.) But there, that is evidence of its extreme dryness. It is quite difficult to apply because there is very little slip. I didn’t want to have to resort to a balm underneath because it compromises its matteness, but it was virtually impossible to apply (at least for me) without one, so this lip swatch was made with a glossy neutral balm underneath: I found that it …

Quickie: Illamasqua Blush-Up Brush

Here’s a super quick post on one of my favorite tools as of late: my recently-acquired Blush-Up Brush from Illamasqua! It’s a very tightly-packed, narrow brush with short, soft bristles and a long handle. It’s supposed to apply blush in a revolutionary~ way, eliminating the need for a contour. Here is a tutorial from the Illamasqua team, explaining how. As you can see, it deposits pigment in a different way than brushes usually do. Going by the shape of the Blush-Up Brush, it’s supposed to apply blush in an angular way. When placed right under the cheekbone, it creates a stark line that highlights the hollows of the cheeks, which I suppose is what they meant by it “eliminat[ing] the need for contour.” I don’t know if it works all that well for me if I use it like that, but it does really well for normal blush and contour application, which I think it should be recognized for. Tarte’s Exposed used to be my “standard” for a good blush brush. If the brush can …
