Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP: April 2015

The April offerings of Le Métier de Beauté Beauty Vault VIP left a lot to be desired. At least, for me. Seeing as I stalk the Makeuptalk thread for this subscription service, I already knew that I wouldn’t really like the box that was coming my way. For one thing, it had two nail lacquers and a—excuse my French—pretty gross baby blue eyeshadow. Based on what I have read, a lot of subscribers received Cocoa Cabana, something I had already received in February 2014. A no-repeat of products was guaranteed, which is part of why I signed up for it for a second round. I contacted PR/customer service and have yet to receive a reply, which is pretty unlike my previous experiences with LMdB. I don’t mind repeat products if I love them; I just don’t particularly care for nail varnish, much less this color I’m ambivalent about that I also already have.

Nailing it with Navy

My relationship with nail polish oscillates so much between love and hate, we could probably star in a romcom. My small hands (short fingers!) with miniscule nails and nail polish are often a match made somewhere nasty. Call me babyfingers—ewwww. It is the turning point in my love-hate tale that finally turns it into a romance.

I kind of explain it a little and gave a 6-month recap over here, but for today, I’ll be showing you what I got for the February box, aka the Valentines one. First up, I have a Colour Core Moisture Stain Lipstick in Riviera ($32) which is a very warm, orange-toned red, aka the worst shade you could probably give me. Next, I’ve got two Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango, a punchy coral, and Cocoa Cabana, a creamy café au lait ($18 each). Again, two colors I’m not really interested in. Swatched, L-R: CCMS Lipstick in Riviera, Nail Lacquers in Wango Tango and Cocoa Cabana The lacquer formula is decent, though I wish I had gotten colors that were more up my speed or just ones that went well better. Both are in a nice, creamy formula, though they still don’t trump my favorite lacquer formula, butter London’s. The bottles on these are similar, but the cap/brush of …
