I must confess: all these beauty bloggers raving about Snoe Beauty’s Rouge Deluxe lippies and foundation has gotten me very curious about the brand. After a bit of internet sleuthing, I found out that it was a local brand (!) and that got me even more curious.
Right after my makeup ban was lifted, I went online and bought some products from their online store. I got my loot after one working day! Because I didn’t want to go overboard, as I am wont to do, I picked two cosmetic products, namely a Rouge Deluxe in Plum Crazy, and the Poudre Phenomenon, which is a “pore erasing HD powder.” For now, let me talk about the Rouge Deluxe!
Snoe’s Rouge Deluxe is:
an oil-infused rich and creamy lip color in the season’s hottest hues. It will hydrate, nourish, and revitalize lips. While delivering long-lasting color, this product works to smoothen and soften the lips, making your pout extra kissable. edited to only the most fashionable shades, it’s impossible to pick one.
Without: parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances, synthetic dyes, petrochemicals, phtalates, GMOs, triclosan
What it does boast of having are: Argan, sunflower, macadamia, grape seed, avocado, rosehips, all of which I assume are oils.
I think that the first thing one notices about Snoe products is the packaging. Every time someone sees the boxes of these products, they exclaim, “Local ‘yan?”
Indeed, the boxes are a special treat, but I don’t think they carried the same design aesthetic over to the actual packaging of the products. The Rouge Deluxe, for example, is housed in a pale pink plastic tube with a bit of gold embellishment on the cap. It’s not bad, but after setting such high expectations with the beautiful boxes, a little more effort on making the actual packaging would have made a huge difference. To me, it looks and feels like a toy.
Plum Crazy is a pretty dark, vampy lip color. I hadn’t seen this as a swatch anywhere, but the product picture made me want to try it. It’s a pretty red wine color that translates more purple on a whiter canvas, aka when I wiped it off on facial tissue, but on the lips, it’s as red as can be.
I went ahead and applied it on fairly dry lips, because of its hydrating claims. The texture itself is very smooth and creamy, but I found the color to apply a bit patchy. Perhaps I will have a better experience on already-smooth lips. I like the color, but I wish it looked better, in terms of overall smoothness. I think it would also translate better with the lighter colors they offer. A good color selection for a first purchase, though, I think.
One thing that bothered me, though, was the scent! It smelled like the old lipsticks of yore, and I do smell all of the oils that it claims to have. I am so not a fan. While I can tolerate it for now, and I appreciate the exclusion of synthetic fragrances, I feel like it will be a deterrent for future Rouge Deluxe purchases, as it is quite off-putting.
VERDICT: Pretty vampy lip color with smooth (but patchy!) application. Claims to be hydrating, but I haven’t worn it long enough to approve or disprove these claims.
Will I repurchase? Looking into other shades, but it depends on if I can handle the scent.
How much? Php 399 for 4g or 0.14oz.
Where to buy in Manila? Online or these places.
ooh thanks for this! was wondering about the newly packaged snoe products for some time now. 🙂 btw i think we have some common friends! 🙂
Ah, what did they use to look like? I just found out about them fairly recently.
Really? Who? 🙂
they used to be…kinda tacky. but the new packaging is really impressive! sina apol sta maria and mitch mauricio, and a few others i forget! 🙂
Ah! Haha that’s awesome 😀
That’s a pretty color! Would love to try it but then again I can’t stand the old lipstick smell as well.
I say give it a try! 🙂 I absolutely love the color.
I’ve been looking high and low for swatches of plum crazy. Thank you for reviewing this! Just bought mine earlier. 🙂
Glad I could help! I hope you like it. 🙂 I wore it out last night and got a ton of compliments.
I got this for Christmas from a girlfriend of mine. It’s the first lipstick I’ve been able to use consecutively! 🙂 I’ve had allergic reactions from other brands. 😦 I have X7 Just Peachy, which I apply after a coat of Burt’s Bees Lip Balm. It does get a bit patchy at times though.
Whoa, that’s awesome! I love that it’s made of so many good ingredients. Which brands have you had allergic reactions to?
Maybelline and Avon for lipstick, and The Body Shop for lip balm. =/ The experiences were pretty bad, so I keep away from anything for the lips, unless they’re gifts.
Hassle! I wonder if they’ll react badly to stuff from Clinique or shu uemura. Just curious because they’re pretty good at skin care.
