Favorite Filipino Cosmetics

Happy Independence Day for my fellow Filipinos! 🙂 I thought I’d mention some of my favorite Filipino cosmetics, as a tribute and all. I didn’t have trouble thinking of many—because we have a pretty good range and selection of local cosmetics—but, I’m aware that I don’t have a lot of brand variation. EYES I love the Happy Skin Eye Am Here To Stay Eyeliners, both the liquid and gel ones! I do find that the tip of the liquid liner, which is a marker felt type, gets gunky and messed up really quickly. For eyeshadow, my top picks are the ones by Fanny Serrano. These ones have been depotted, as you can see. I must remember to wear these more! An affordable option with excellent pigmentation and performance. LIPS My favorite lip options are the Snoe Beauty Rouge Deluxe Lipsticks and—surprise, surprise—the Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturising Lippies. BASE My absolute favorite local foundation is a loose mineral one by Ellana Minerals*! I love this for a very smoothed over, velvety, and …

Quickie: Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in Girls Night Out

Here’s a quick post of another shade of Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie. I’ve reviewed two of the lighter shades previously (Crushing on You and Summer Fling) here, so if you would like a more in-depth review on this particular range, you can read that. Girls Night Out is a red violet shade, and is one of the two darkest shades in the range, and it’s the less-red and cooler of the two. The other one is a bit more red.

Happy Skin Eye Need a Miracle Concealer

So, I dragged my mom to a Happy Skin Counter and this is what she ended up getting. To be honest, I think she got the Eye Need a Miracle Concealer for me, since I wouldn’t shut up about it. I didn’t want to buy it just yet because it had an alarming amount of glitter in it, for something that’s supposed to conceal dark circles. Eye Need a Miracle only has one shade, Butter, and I’ve been told that it “adjusts” to any skin tone. I’m a big ol’ skeptic when it comes to these things because I can’t fathom how that works out, but it swatches fine on my medium skin color:

Happy Skin Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie and Eye am Here to Stay Liquid Eyeliner

You know when you keep going back and forth, visiting a counter and swatching the same damn things and walking away? Yeah, well, I’ve been doing that dance for a few weeks before I finally caved and bought some items from Happy Skin Cosmetics, the newest local beauty brand that’s been making waves. It’s not even that hard to see why there’s buzz around this new line of cosmetics. They released only a handful of items, which is something I actually prefer for new baby brands because you know they took their time formulating the products and getting each one perfectly. I picked up the “friendliest” items of the bunch; at least, in my opinion. I have the Shut Up & Kiss Me Moisturizing Lippie in Crushing on You, a pretty rosy mauve MLBB shade, and Summer Fling, which is a pinky peach. I also got Eye am Here to Stay 24h Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in 01 Perfect Black. I don’t think there are any other colors available at the moment. All of the items …

Ellana Minerals Lip & Cheek Gel in Amethyst*

One of the things I was very lucky to try out from Ellana Minerals is their Lip & Cheek Gel* which I got in Amethyst. It comes in this weird pump packaging that always spells trouble for controlling the amount of product you squeeze out. The liquid is quite runny for a gel, though it doesn’t necessarily drip or run like a liquid would. Amethyst, though pretty plummy and purple in the bottle, registers like a really warm red. I was a bit surprised, since this looks more like a “ruby” than an amethyst. The texture is quite weird. And like I said, “runny for a gel.” Here’s what happened when I tried to spread out that dot. Like most multi-purpose products, the Lip & Cheek Gel works better as one product and not as both—in this case, it is better for me as a cheek product. Amethyst gives me a pretty, natural flush on the cheeks as thought I’d been working out. On the lips, though, it’s a bit too much of a warm …

Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation and Let’s Make it Last Makeup Primer*

I usually wait a while and use a product several times before putting up a review, but I wanted to do a medyo first impressions post on the Ellana Minerals Loose Mineral Powder Foundation* and the Ellana Minerals Make It Last Makeup Primer* both of which I got from the Ellana Minerals relaunch last November 19. I’m actually pretty impressed with the primer. It is a clear, gel-like substance, but it goes on velvet-y soft when you smooth it over your face. Texturally, it’s closest to the Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer, among all of the primers I own, and from what I have experienced personally. Product Description: “Our new blend of makeup primer to make your makeup last longer, instantly smoothens your skin. Oil-free, mattifies completely, smoothens fine lines, and enhances your complexion. Now with Allantoin & Moroccan Argan Oil for cell regeneration and moisturizers. Fragrance-free, Paraben-free, Mineral oil-free” So far, I’ve found that it lives up to its claims. The dispenser is quite nice, with the packaging close to Snoe’s Emu.Tox. The foundation is …
