Fall in Love with bareMinerals READY Luminizer in The Love Affair

bareMinerals - The Love Affair - Compact

I’m going to be doing a bunch of quick reviews for recently-hauled items, just to get them “out of the way.” I love writing about products, obviously, and talking about what makes them great and whatnot but it’s hard to do consistently when I’m in the middle of Day Job things and when I only have one face to test the products on. So, there’s that.

For today, I have a quick review on a pressed luminizer by bareMinerals. The READY Luminizer in The Love Affair is described as a “pink nectar glow.” It’s rose gold and cooler, when compared to its sister, the Luminizer in The Shining Moment, which is more yellow gold. I chose this because I wanted to be more ‘pink’ than ‘gold,’ though I don’t think I would be able to tell the difference, really. It’s not the product’s fault. I’m just not very discerning.

The Luminizer comes in a bluish white plastic compact, with a full-size mirror and a beautiful stamped Art Deco inspired pattern. I don’t like the packaging that much; it looks a little cheap to me. But I do love me some decorative stamping.

I love bareMinerals compacts because, as much as I love their loose powder products (Mineral Veil! ♥), nothing beats their READY line. In my opinion anyway. I love both, but if I had to choose… Well, I’m too much of a klutz to really be at ease using loose powder products. No matter how many sifters you install in the packaging.

bareMinerals - The Love Affair - Swatches

Again, here are finger swatches. Concentrated, it looks fairly frosty, but there will be no visibly discernible shimmer on your face once it’s swiped on. I used it on the bridge of my no nose and on my cheekbones. I applied this with a fluffy blush brush, because it didn’t come with an applicator.

I first posted this look in this post. I used bareMinerals READY 8.0 Eyeshadow in The September Issue, Revlon ColorStay Mineral Blush (Roseberry), and Revlon Lip Butter (Sugar Plum).

I like that it adds depth and dimension to the face, but doesn’t go over the top. While I love Benefit’s Watt’s Up!, it’s easier to over-apply that highlighter. bareMinerals’ formulation seems almost fool-proof.

VERDICT: Beautifully radiant luminizer for that subtle glow.
How much? $26 for 106 or 0.2oz. Bought it for $20.
Will I repurchase? It’s limited edition, so I doubt I could. I like it, but I wouldn’t hoard.
Where to purchase? I bought mine from the bareMinerals website, but they’re also available in Nordstrom, Sephora, Beauty, ASOS, and other online retailers.

    • I love them, too! You should pick either of these up, if you’re looking for a new highlighter or something. 🙂

  1. I love bareMinerals’ eye shadows and have been wanting to try their luminizer ❤ Looking forward to more of these reviews! I saw that you got their eye primer, too, and I've been eyeing that for a while as well.

    • Hey Johna! 🙂 You should definitely try and swatch these. 🙂 I find that it’s hard to base luminizer/highlighter purchases on online swatches without seeing them in person. That said, I’m glad this was a hit. I’ll definitely have a review up for that soon.

  3. great photos! i thought about getting this when it first came out but ended up not getting it… i am so bad with a makeup routine that i rarely get to highlighters, and i already have a few i really like! glad this works for you though 🙂

    • Seriously, I don’t even know why I have so much stuff. Hehe. I really like using and trying new products, though. 🙂 Thanks for the comment!
