Vlog: Skin Care Routine

Hey everyone! So, here’s the video~ on my “skin care routine” that some people have been asking about. There aren’t too many steps (clean, tone, sometimes moisturize), but I just like using a variety of products, for some reason. My face isn’t so sensitive to cleansers. I just have bad luck with foundations and tinted moisturizers, I think.

I’m not one for skin care. I’ve always felt like a bit of soap and water is all you needed. It goes to show you how much I know. (It has recently come to light that my sister was deeply grossed out about my lack of facial hygiene.) Anyway, onto the moving picture that is my face!

(My channel was made when I was but a child. Sorry for the atrocious name!)

1. Pond’s Daily Face Wash

Standard face-cleaner. I’ve been using the “light green” variety ever since late grade school (that’s Junior High to you Americans) and I just never switched to any other variant. I like it mostly because of the scent. There is a squeaky-cleanness to it that most people would follow up with moisturizer. I like using it on Minimal Makeup Days and also when I wake up in the morning.

2. Laneige Oil-Free Cleansing Liquid

An alternative to item #3. I tried it out simply because I got it as a sample. It does the job.

3. Shu Uemura Balancing Cleansing Oil Advanced Formula (Yellow) (Php 4,000 for 450ml)

To be honest, I don’t know how these oils are different from one another. This is the variant that just looked the most “neutral” to me, which is why I picked it. Patrick, a MUA from shu uemura, was the one who recommended this and the bottle is actually a repurchase! My sister and I split it, but she uses it most of the time because I stopped wearing foundation and whatnot. This stuff is amazing; heavy face makeup just really melts away and you’re left with a nice clean face feeling that’s not greasy or oily.

If you’re not familiar with the oil cleansing method, you basically pump the solution on dry hands, apply it all over a dry face. Then, you take a small bit of water and pass it over your entire face. The water “emulsifies” the solution, turning it a milky white. You then rinse this off, et voila! Your clean face will greet you from the mirror.

4. Ahava 3-in-1 Mineral Toning Cleanser (Php 1,560 $33 for 250ml; I got it from a SUPER sale)

For the lazy bones in you. This is basically a no-rinse cleanser. It works super well, save for stubborn waterproof makeup, but I don’t use it much because I don’t like the smell! Apply the milky lotiony liquid on your face then wipe away with cotton. Easy peasy, lemon squeezey.

5. Laneige Lip & Eye Remover (Php 850 or $20 for 150ml)

For stubborn eye and lip makeup. Highly effective, though a tad bit expensive. Very gentle on the eyes, though.

6. MUJI Light Toning Water (Php 355 for 200ml)

A moisturizing toner that is extremely gentle. Relatively cheap, too.

7. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner(Php 475 or $11 for 250ml)

Good for a deeper clean and for fighting pimply breakouts. The formula is a bit harsh and may cause a bit of stinging.

8. shu uemura Depsea Hydrability Moisturizing Lotion (free 50ml sample; $37 for 150ml)

A very moisturizing, very effective product. Slightly expensive (I received a sample from a shu uemura purchase), but very highly recommended.

That’s about it! 🙂 Feel free to ask questions if you have any.

  1. Hello! Why’d you stop wearing foundation? And what do you use now? BB cream? Tinted moisturizer? ‘Coz it’d be weird if you were wearing pretty eye makeup and no foundation (or maybe that’s just me)

    Thanks a lot!

And P.S. I love your blog lots ♥

    • Hi M!

I noticed I started getting breakouts (forehead and cheek area) when I would wear even tinted moisturizer so I stopped to “let my skin breathe” and I haven’t really dared to start using. Until recently anyway (I picked up a light foundation for the SPF). Anyway, I don’t normally like wearing “stuff on my face” just because it makes me look cakey. I think I found THE ONE, though, so yay.

I don’t think it would be weird at all. 🙂 I feel like one can be applied on the face without the other. Why do you think it would be weird?

      P.S. Thank you. ♥
