Drugstore Finds: Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains

Normally, I don’t wait several months before I make a purchase; especially if it’s a drugstore product. I first saw the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains in a mall one Sunday in October. I found them a bit pricey (Php 575 or $14) here, so I tried to ignore the hankering for them. I lasted a month and a half before I finally caved. A few people nudged me and said they were totally worth every penny. I found a cheaper retailer online (Php 450 or $10) and although they didn’t have the shade I really, really wanted, I got myself three of the next best ones.

Revlon - Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain - Sweetheart, Darling, Crush

Here’s Sweetheart, Darling, and Crush. I decided to get a variation of shades (light, bright, dark) to try them out. Here are some swatches:

ANYWAY. Long story short, I love these things. I keep one (usually Darling) in my bag at all times.

  • Darling is a cool blue-toned pink that looks a bit lilac-y.
  • Sweetheart is a cool bright pink.
  • Crush is a deep cool wine.

The formula is pretty good for me. Some people have noted that it is not as “balm-y” as it should (?) be, but I think it holds its own. It has a minty scent, which was a pleasant surprise.

Although the colors I’ve picked out are mostly cool-toned, the stain they’ve all left are warm. Sadly, I don’t have pictures of the stains. The weirdest stain left was Darling’s, just because it was a bit orange, whereas the original color is cool and pink. For this reason, it was hard to reapply this stain, because the “base color” is weird.

Revlon

I’ve only worn the Darling and Crush. Longevity is average. It’s neither drying nor moisturizing on the lips, but it applies quite smoothly. I think these are perfect for people who like fuss-free makeup, and for makeup noobs who are intimidated by lipsticks. 🙂

I still can’t quite believe how long it took me to get on this bandwagon. I love them so much and I personally find that they are so worth it.

VERDICT: Gorgeous wearable shades for everyday. A non-intimidating alternative for people who want to introduce color to their lips but are apprehensive about lipstick.
How much? Php 575 for 0.095oz. or 2.7g. Bought for Php 450.
Will I repurchase? I have my eye on Honey, so once I find a retailer that has it, my grabby hands will grab.
Where to buy in Manila? I bought them from Stuff in Style, but various department stores carry Revlon.

  1. I have crush, honey and romantic and they are probably my fave lip products. It’s amazing that they stay on all day and the colour payoff is great! I only got honey the other day but it’s such a wearable colour! x

    • That’s awesome! I wouldn’t call them a favorite, but I do love them quite a lot. I’m still looking high and low for Honey! Haha the shade is so elusive~

Darling looks gorgeous on you! Well as does Crush, which now I need to get my paws on. I hate that the stains vary from the original color a bit but otherwise they’re great if you keep applying.

    • Thank you, Taylor! I wonder which shades you have 🙂 Yeah, I didn’t like the stain of Darling at all, but otherwise, very good.

  3. Love the balmstains so much I’ve replaced my lipsticks with those! I have honey but it looks kinda pale on me (or maybe I’m just used to seeing my face with a deep lip color lol). Can’t wait to finish one because that’s the only time I’ll allow myself to buy another one (I have three and I can’t wait to have adore haha)

  4. The shades look good on you! 🙂 I am one of those “makeup noobs who are intimidated by lipsticks” so this has actually been my savior! I have it in Smitten and am planning to buy more. 🙂 Would you mind directing me your online retailer? 🙂

  7. I have honey and it’s pretty good. I don’t have to apply a lipbalm before applying. It’s fuss-free and noob friendly.

    BTW I love your blog!

    • Thank you, Tin! 🙂 I agree, these are fuss-free. I don’t use them that much because I’m not a fan of the color of the stain they leave.
