ASOS Haul Part 2 + Quick Reviews (Illamasqua I’mperfection Spring 2013)

Incidentally, the second part of my ASOS Haul (first part here) was comprised of Illamasqua products, two of which are part of their newest collection I’mperfection. I’ll talk about them first.

Illamasqua - Blusher Duo - Lover Hussy - Compact

The first thing I got was the Illamasqua Blusher Duo in Lover and Hussy (£26), a soft apricot and a candy pink. First impression: this thing is huge and also, I am a blush psycho person. I tried Hussy (candy pink) today, and it was great! It went well with my skin tone and wasn’t overpowering or glaring at all. I kind of wish I got the new Illamasqua blush brush, but my super soft Marionnaud slanted angle blush brush does the trick. I didn’t notice much fading, as most blushes are wont to do, so I am deeply impressed.

Illamasqua Lipstick - Immodest - Case

The next item I got from their I’mperfection collection is the Lipstick in Immodest (£16). Now, I don’t normally wear pinks, but I saw it on Estée (here) and fell in love. I had to have it. Unfortunately, I don’t read properly and failed to note that she has pigmented lips. She linked a post by another blogger, Cami, on whom the lipstick looks vastly different. Yikes.

Illamasqua Lipstick - Immodest - Tube

On me, it is quite different as well. It’s closer to Cami’s “swatch” but very much toned down. The thing is, the finish is also very matte. This lipstick accentuates any dry flakes you may have. It is not the easiest to use. In fact, I now have a broken bullet because I tried so hard to make my layer an even one (over NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Bahama) and forgot about the part where I’m supposed to be gentle with lipstick. Oops.

It sucks. But it’s totally my fault. I will try to remedy the situation and will post an update on that with a fuller review and face pictures~ I should note, though, that I tried to apply it with a lip brush and it was virtually impossible. I’m guessing that’s because it’s a matte formula, but IDK. Maybe it’s just the lipstick.

Illamasqua Lipgloss - Frenzy - Tube

Illamasqua Lipgloss - Frenzy - Lip Swatch Last, but not the least, the Illamasqua Intense Lipgloss in Frenzy (£11). I don’t know why I got this, to be honest. It’s quite the shocking pink. I feel like it would actually go well with Immodest. I was surprised to get a gloss tube with the brush, since I know these come with a squeezy-tube type of thing, but oh well. The bristles of the brush are kind of stiff and poke-y.

I love that the color is so bright, because it does what it says it will do, but I don’t know if I will reach for this that much. Aside for a very in-your-face color, it also comes in a very strong bubblegum scent. I’m not really a fan of the smell, just because it’s very sweet (like candy-sweet) and strong. There’s no discernible taste that I can pinpoint.

I would consider buying another tube again but in a much more muted color like nude or brown or something. This is too bold for me to wear around a lot.

I forgot to say, from the Spring Collection, I’m still waiting for one of the nail varnishes (Freckle!). I asked my sister’s friend Dice to pick one up for me in London because they don’t ship polishes. I can’t wait.

That ends my ASOS Haul. Hope you enjoyed looking! Sorry if this has been mostly hauls lately. The packages just keep popping up at the same time. I’m waiting for a few more exciting items and then I’ll be easing up on the makeup purchases.

Thinking of what to post next. I feel like I should queue up some reviews in between my other post plans (Made-Up History, Tutorials, etc.), but we’ll see. Thanks for reading.

  1. That Illamasqua is some pricey lipstick! However, the color really is beautiful. How long would you say the color lasted?

    • That it is. 😦 I haven’t tested it for wear, yet but I’ll let you know once I do. Thanks for visiting!
