Makeup No-Buy Update: One Month Mark

One month ago, I put myself on a Makeup No-Buy, and this is just a little update to let you know how I was doing. 🙂

So far, I’ve only purchased two things with points from a loyalty card:
— e.l.f. Liquid Eyeliner
— essence Stay All-Day Long-Lasting Eyeshadow in Glammy Goes To…

I’ve also received two gifts from my aunt:
— BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal
— BECCA Beach Tint in Guava

And, that’s about it! Skincare things and clothes don’t count, though, and I’m beginning to think I should have a spending ban altogether. Le sigh.

All in all, I think I’ve been doing pretty good, though.

  1. Whoa, well done! Now that I’m home for the summer, I think I need a ban for clothing hahah. My beauty buy impulses have calmed down though, all I really want at the moment is that Maybelline Color Tattoo eyeshadow in Seashore Frosts (which I probably won’t even get because it’s impossible to track down. Blessing in disguise) and the Chanel Mystere quad.

    • I know, I want that color tattoo so badly but I have to rely on online resellers here since we don’t get that line, but I don’t think any will be able to get their hands on Seashore Frosts. I mean, if you can’t, what more them?

I have sadly bought a lot of clothing, lol, so my ban is truthfully a little moot. But here’s to trying! 🙂

      • I hate Maybelline for their Color Tattoo eyeshadows. Because I got to swatch them the other day and they’re soooo good, but I now have to fight with myself about purchasing. I do make exceptions when it comes to cruelty-free makeup purchases, but I draw the line with brands that do it deliberately. Why can’t they just be good, so I can enjoy my shopping choices instead of feeling like I’m committing a crime?

  2. How did you like the Essence cream eyeshadow? I got one in pink (something ballerina, don’t remember the name exactly now), but I thought it was a bit dry or maybe mine gone bad or something.

Hehe, yeah, whenever I did bans on one category of product, I would end up shopping for something else instead. It’s just buying too much in general I need to deal with.

    • I found it too dry too, similar to the texture and consistency of the Stila Smudepgepot, of which I was not a fan! Yeah, I don’t know how to deal with spending, though. It feels like the kind of thing that you should just… Stop doing, you know?

  3. lol. I sympathize with you. I’ve been doing pretty well in terms of spending. I have’t bought anything except food and essentials for about a month or so. Then again, I am also trying to save up for a graphic tablet, so I’ll end up blowing the money I saved eventually. 😉

    • That’s awesome! Congratulations on curbing your spending. 🙂 What tablet are you looking to buy? I use a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch for work. 🙂

      • I’ve been looking mostly at Wacom, but I am not entirely sure. I don’t want to blow a whole lot of money because I don’t need a huge drawing area, just a basic size so I can use it in Photoshop.

      • My tablet is the smallest one, and it’s definitely enough to use if you’re not a professional illustrator, etc. Good luck! Can’t wait to see what you pick out. 🙂

  4. This post makes me smile. It reminds me of myself. But since I don’t use makeup too much, mine is MaxiDress-No Buy…..and it’s so hard too keep up with it. This month, I still got three hahaha! Nice blog.
