Alliteration forever! Obviously.

So. These things. These things are amazing.

The Le Métier de Beauté Lip Crèmes are lipstick/gloss hybrids, which means that they are a little thicker than glosses and pretty much have the pigmentation of lipsticks, but they come in a liquid formula. I think that’s sort of similar to the concept of liquid lipsticks, although these come in a different finish and formula than those that I’ve tried (i.e. Revlon ColorStay Liquid Lipstick, Guerlain Rouge G L’Extrait).

These are also quite unique because they’re meant to be mixed together or layered over each other or other lop products. Which, when you think about it, is kind of like their eyeshadow technique, the couches de couleur, made popular by their Kaleidoscope Eye Kits.

I have three lip crèmes, two of which are fairly recent acquisitions. Here are the swatches:

These come in many other different colors, so it’s kind of hard to pick, but you can always try one or two out first like I did, and then slowly build your collection.

But I’m getting ahead of myself!

I was initially put off by how thickly Crème Caramel, which is my first lip crème, applied. I didn’t touch it for a long-ish time, and then I tried to apply only a little of it and spread it on my lips, which was better. Then!

I layered it over my Addiction Lip Crayon in Day Trip, and I found my perfect nude.

You can wear the lip crèmes by themselves, or layered over each other:

That’s pretty much it, though. They just add a really great new dimension to your lip color. It can tone down or brighten up a color or even change the finish. I realize that this isn’t an entirely new concept, layering, but these products are just so perfect for that purpose.

I have my eye on a bunch of other colors, but I will be happily playing with these for as long as I can. 🙂

Staying power is decent, which is to say, a few hours as is standard for liquid lip products like liquid lipsticks and lip glosses. The scent is rather strong. Many people have described it as a vanilla scent, but I find it to be a more specific smell. It’s something sweet, definitely, but it reminds me of those little sugar beads that I’d find either on cakes or in my loot bag, like cheap confections, handed out at birthday parties when I was a kid. I normally don’t like “pastry smells,” but I quite like this one because I have a memory attached to it. 🙂
