Nosy Beauty Vol. 6: Eula

And it’s time for another installment of Nosy Beauty! Today, let’s get to know Eula of Eula Sleeps, a general practitioner soon to enter residency. She’s been on an awesome trip to the US, while preparing to be a doctor. I first learned about Eula when Liz of Project Vanity featured us both in one of her blog posts, Five local beauty bloggers who I wish won’t quit.

Eula had this to say about the feature: “It was super fun to think about why these are my current staples while imagining this is exactly what your previous Nosy Beauty girls have done before.”

“My beauty philosophy is nothing revolutionary: makeup should enhance, not alter, your natural beauty. (Unless of course the occasion calls for it!) I go for a clean base and accentuate one part of the face, usually my eyes.”

“My makeup bag is part of an American Airlines amenities kit designed by Eames. The loud red makes it easy to find, and the dot pattern is too cute. The lining is pretty spiffy as well.”

Étude House Sun BB Cream, Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Brightening Makeup, Clinique Airbrush Concealer, Garnier BB Eye Roll-On, Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder, The Face Shop FaceIT Circle Face Brush, Shu Uemura goat hair travel face brush. Not pictured: Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets.

“I prefer liquid bases to powder ones just because they look more natural to me. When I know I’ll be on the go, I put on Étude House Sun BB Cream, a good-coverage sweat-resistant base that gives you a glow just the right side of dewy. Applying it in a circular motion with The Face Shop FaceIT Circle Face Brush results in a lovely no-makeup look.

When I know I’ll be in a comfortably cool environment I use Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow liquid foundation, which provides a more matte finish but unfortunately can’t stand up to the heat. A tiny bit (half a pump) applied with fingers brightens the face wonderfully.

For eyebags and blemishes, I use either Garnier BB Eye Roll-On or Clinique Airbrush Concealer, depending on the depth of my tan.

On oily days I set everything with Mary Kay Translucent Loose Powder loaded onto a powder brush, such as this Shu Uemura goat hair travel face brush. As the day wears on I blot with Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets, the blue unscented variant.”

LORAC PRO palette, In2It clear mascara, Étude House Proof 10 eye primer, In2It Waterproof eyebrow color, Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe, L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions waterproof mascara, Marrionnaud No38 dual-ended eye brush, Japonesque Pro eye shadow crease brush, Shu Uemura sable hair travel eye brush, The Face Shop gold eyelash curler

“I love eye makeup because there are SO. MANY. COLORS!! Ironically, I love strong pops of color but gravitate towards neutral shades.

I can wax poetic about the LORAC PRO palette, which provides an excellent range of mattes and satins for both day and night looks. If I want to look older (often the case when I want to be taken seriously), or just more polished for say a night out, I do a subtle smokey eye. The darker mattes also double as eyebrow powder and eyeliner. These are pigmented even without primer, but to make them last I apply them over Étude House Proof 10 eye primer.

I know it isn’t ideal, but I use only two brushes when applying shadow. Either side of a Shu Uemura sable hair travel eye brush to pat on color, then a Japonesque Pro eye shadow crease brush to blend, define the crease, and highlight. Multitasking all around! When I’m rushing and just wearing glasses, I swipe on some Maybelline 24HR Color Tattoo in Tough as Taupe for a bit of definition.

Curling your lashes makes you look more awake and, more importantly, so much cuter. 😉 For natural-looking longer lashes I like the L’Oreal Telescopic Shocking Extensions mascara.

I don’t muck around with my brows because I don’t really know how… But I never go without them. Defined well-groomed brows by themselves can make you look that much more polished, don’t you agree? A clear mascara like one by In2It brushes the hair into place and provides a wet base to intensify the eyebrow powder. In2It Waterproof Eyebrow Color is awesomely affordable and long-lasting. I apply it with the super cheap and effective Marionnaud No38 dual-ended eye brush, which I actually learned about from Carina!”

NARS The Happening eye and cheek palette, Sonia Kashuk bent eyeliner brush, Shu Uemura pony/squirrel hair travel cheek brush, Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel, Snoe Rouge Deluxe in Precious Pout, Boots No7 marble blusher in Ballerina, Maybelline Baby Lips balm.

“I like subdued colors for everyday wear. Clinique Chubby Stick Intense in Curviest Caramel is a great MLBB shade that’s also moisturizing. For a more youthful look I like sporting a sheer wash of pink by dabbing on Snoe Rouge Deluxe in Precious Pout over a layer of Maybelline Baby Lips balm, which incidentally when worn on its own also somehow makes my lips look plumper and pinker, even though it’s a clear balm.

Sometimes lipstick is enough to add color to the face. If I want more of a flush, then comes the blush. Lately I’ve been loving NARS Orgasm, seen here as part of The Happening palette. One or two swipes gives a peachy pink glow that lasts all day. I like using Shu Uemura squirrel cheek brush for blush because it’s useful for both precise application of blush and to blend it out.

Almost as long-lasting is Boots No7 Marble Blusher in Ballerina, a fresh pink that gives a really cute doll-like effect. As you can see, this blusher has survived a fall or two in my makeup bag. The curved top surface cracked away but the base holds on like there’s no tomorrow.

Oh, and if I want a really flawless face base I use Sonia Kashuk bent pencil eyeliner brush for pinpoint concealing of hyperpigmentation on my cheeks. This is a trick often used by Lisa Eldridge.

When I start going on duty again I’ll probably downsize to just a powder face base, eyebrows, and lip color. But for now I’m enjoying the almost zen-like process of prettifying in the morning!”

And that’s it for this edition of Nosy Beauty! Thank you, Eula, for such pretty pictures and a thorough run-through of the products. 🙂 Check back in next week to learn more about this makeup bag and the woman behind it:

    • Pretty, isn’t it? I didn’t get it because I already have a big pan of orgasm that I don’t use that much but I think it’s a perfect starter kit for NARS eyeshadows and blushes/bronzers. 🙂

  1. Thanks for the feature Carina! Keep them coming, I love peeking into people’s private stuff lol

  2. I just want to say that i enjoy this Nosy Beauty series, especially this one because I use a makeup kit from an airline, too. Plus, her look is so au naturel. 🙂

    • Thank you so much. 🙂 I post these every Saturday so I hope you can tune in! Also, yes, I agree. Pretty no makeup makeup look. 🙂
