When I asked Sarie to get me some items from LMdB while she was on her trip to the States (2 Lip Cremes, 1 Lipstick), she was able to get a GWP for me! Woohoo! The Gift With Purchase includes an eyeshadow duo called Brown as a Berry and an itty bitty sample size of the Anamorphic Lash Mascara. Both came in a cute little drawstring pouch.
This is a late review, but I was waiting to finish up a couple of mascaras before I opened this one up.
Brown as a Berry is comprised of two light shades: a rosy pink with a golden sheen to it, and a mushroom brown with a similar sheen. Texturally, the shadows are a bit drier than the Le Métier de Beauté shadows I’ve owned and used previously, the main offender being the brown shade.
Still, with a bit of coaxing, both are rather pretty mid-tone shades, great to use all over the lid. These are a little light on my skintone, but they are gorgeous in person, when you can properly observe how the golden sheen reacts to the light and to movement.
I’ll use this in a look soon. I just wanted to tell you all about this GWP. I’ve put it off long enough! I think it’s also partly to pat myself on my droopy shoulder, having missed out on the terrific Beauty Vault VIP deal they had going on. I think you may remember me mentioning it in this post.
Anyway! The other thing that came in this GWP was a sample size of the Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Noir. It is a rather standard mascara. It comes with what I’d describe as a “full” wand. The formula is “smudge-proof” and long-wearing, and I found that to be true, as the mascara did not migrate even after I was out on a long and sweaty day.
However, I would argue that it did not do much in terms of volumizing my lashes, as it claims to do. It did provide some definition, and in a rather natural way, which I actually quite like. As I’ve mentioned before, my lashes are kind of a struggle to prettify.
As with most mascaras, this one did not hold my lashes’ curl all that well, though it did not noticeably weigh them down.
While I found both items to be quite on the subtle side, I find that I quite enjoy using them, especially the mascara. It’s a real treat when I just want a bit of definition and a natural flutter, instead of drama.
If I like it to hold my curl more, I layer Majolica Majorca Lash King over top of this, which is a tip I got from Gia, who told me to layer it over Maybelline The Hypercurl. I find that it works better with this one. 🙂
At $34, the mascara is a little bit on the pricier side, so I think that I’ll try out one of the colored mascaras if I do decide, for whatever reason, to buy this one.
Le Métier de Beauté is cruelty-free.
Oh my gosh, those are awesome GWPs! The eyeshadow duo looks nice, maybe with a primer, the colors will pop more.
I usually wear it with a primer and it doesn’t help much. I’m thinking a color correcting base would be a great thing to use in this case! 🙂
