Okay, this red lipstick is frakking beautiful, man. No joke. I was a little scared and apprehensive because a) it’s a new formulation from Le Métier de Beauté, and b) it’s a really dark red. Again, with most things, my initial fears and gut instincts were wrong and it was love at first swipe with Signature Red.
Before they announced their new line, LMdB sent this shade out to their Beauty Vault VIP subscribers as a nameless, mystery red sans name and information. The ones being released next month are housed in a silver bullet that looks similar to the housing of the silver kaleidoscopes.
Signature Red is a “matte garnet red,” and is quite blue-based and cool. I’ve read about comparisons to MAC’s Ruby Woo, which I don’t have. (I know, SHOCKER.) It’s quite an easy red to wear, surprisingly. If you didn’t already know, I’m not one for straight up red lipstick, but this one, I loved right away.
The new Hydra-Crème Lipstick formula has reportedly been three years in the making. The formula is so creamy and easy to apply, but it is pretty much a true matte. It is not really drying and doesn’t accentuate dry patches as much as you would think. There is a bit of drag upon application, but to be honest, I think that’s to be expected of matte formulas. There is significant transfer as well.
All in all, I have enjoyed my tube of LMdB’s Hydra-Crème Lipstick. I’m a big fan of the original Moisture Stain Colour Core Lipsticks, so I’m pleased to find out that these are just as good as those. The Hydra-Crème line is due out this month, retailing for $25 each. There are 16 shades in the new line.
Le Métier de Beauté is cruelty-free.
Very pretty! Somehow I like that it’s not a retro red, but more of a fall-appropriate red.
