Nosy Beauty Vol. 23: Delia

Hi everyone! Sorry for missing last week’s Nosy Beauty post. I didn’t even realize it was a Saturday until I was in the mountains and too late to even queue the post. New Resolution: Pay attention. HEH! Anyway, this week’s guest of honor ’round these parts is Delia, from Shimmery Black. She’s an amazing girl who comes up with some of the most stunning eye looks. She’s definitely one of my favorite beauty bloggers.

My name is Delia, I’m 18 and I’m currently a student (oh, the horror). I love nature, art and, besides blogging at Shimmery Black, I sometimes do photography.

Regarding my beauty philosophy, I think make-up should be most importantly effective and not essentially obvious. For instance, a thin black line right at the base of the lashes is more flattering than painting your whole lid with liquid liner (which I’ve actually seen on some girls).

Personally, I like to wear make-up while still looking like myself and not getting weird looks when going out barefaced. I do, however, enjoy messing around with colours, which is why I started my blog in the first place, but for my everyday look I like to keep it simple.

Here’s my plain & boring make-up bag; if on Monday I’ve got 2-3 products in there, by the end of the week I usually end up carrying half of my collection with me. And I don’t even retouch my make-up.

I’ve been faithful to my Puretouch Minerals foundation for a few years now; it’s one of the first foundations I’ve ever tried and I still love it; despite what most people would think, I find mineral foundation rather easy to apply, especially with my ELF Studio Powder Brush. For blush, I’ve been loving Beauty UK’s baked blush in Baked Peach, which I actually broke after taking the picture, but I managed to fix it, so yay for me!

As far as eye make-up goes, my first holy grail is mascara; two products that I’m loving at the moment are Avon’s SuperShock mascara and the Yves Rocher Lash Plumping Mascara. For my brows I’ve been using an ELF Brightening Eye Color quad in Brownstone and my trusty brow gel by Alverde. I love me some thick eyebrows!

For the fun part, I have two looks that I usually sport, the first one being a classic line of black pencil (I’m using Avon’s Glimmerstick in Blackest Black) topped with black eyeshadow (Oriflame Mono Eyeshadow in Asphalt Black) because I have oily lids and trust issues.

The second one is a neutral make-up for which I use my fairly new Beauty UK palette in Earth Child (love the name, love the colours). My favourite base at the moment is the NYX Eyeshadow Base in Skin Tone.

I’ve gone pretty autumnal in terms of lip colours; here I’ve got the Oriflame Lip Impact Crayon in Vibrant Almond, the Avon Colortrend lipstick in Lucky Kiss and the Avon Colour Style lipstick in Perfect Peach, which is the best nude I’ve found for myself so far.

A heap of thanks to Delia for being a part of Nosy Beauty. 🙂 If you’re new and want to catch up on those that came before, click here. As for next week’s installment, here’s a sneak peek:
