Quick update on the makeup-buying front: I’ve been purchase free in 2015! Yay. I set a one-item-a-month limit for myself this year, but I have yet to buy anything. 🙂 I’ve got my eye on a few palettes—predictably—but seeing as I have way too many already, I haven’t had any desire to actually spring for any of them. /pats self on the back.
Seeing as I haven’t been buying anything new, I’ve begun digging around my current makeup ~collection~ (this word really makes me cringe), and I discovered some forgotten gems that I’ve been enjoying using lately! Here’s the first installment of “Recent Rediscoveries,” which is basically just me remembering awesome things that I’ve forgotten due to over-buying makeup. Oops.
MAC Lipsticks
The things that inspired this post! Because of my new lipstick purchases, I’ve really kind of forgotten all about my MAC lipsticks. That is, until I pulled out Twig on a particularly dry-lip day and was soooo happy with how it played with my chapped, sunburnt lips. I’ve been enjoying Twig and Plumful specifically—both are awesome everyday shades.
Eyelash Curler + Mascara
Late last year, I decided I hated wearing mascara and that I couldn’t be bothered. I picked up the curler + mascara again early this year because of a Project Pan and… well, I’ve started enjoying this whole eyelash beautification. My current daily pairing is the shu uemura Eyelash Curler and the Le Métier de Beauté Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Midnight.
NARS Pro-Prime Smudgeproof Eye Base
This is me eating my words, because I finally get the fuss. What took me so long? you ask. Who even knows? All I know is that what I thought would be a period of hate-using an eye primer turned out to be a grand old time.
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Crave
This is a really soft eye pencil that I use when I want instant definition. It’s not as stark as black (it’s sort of a deep charcoal, brown-black shade), so the looks a little softer. I apply it on the outer half of my lash line and it’s just a whole lot of difference for practically no effort.
I’m honestly excited to dig into my stash, deeper and more thoroughly. I have a lot of forgotten products and it feels overwhelming at times, but I try to remember that baby steps are OK too. 🙂
Do you have any recent rediscoveries of your own?

Wow I don’t think I could ever just buy one product a month, let alone nothing for two months straight! I’ve actually never heard of the Nars eye base…I’ve been using the Mac Paint Pots. Might have to check it out next time I’m looking for a base!
Haha going on the third month! 🙂 I went on a lot of spending binges so I thought I ought to scale back a bit. I love MAC Paint Pots, too 🙂
I can’t believe you like the Pro-Prime now! You’re abandoning the sisterhood! Have you used it differently somehow to make it work? Tell me the secret x
Haha I know, I can’t believe it either! It just sort of started working once I decided I didn’t want to have anything to do with it, lol. No secrets, I think it’s just very, very old.
Ergghhh I want Plumful in my life! Seeing as it’s coming up to Autumn over here, that would be the perfect excuse right?!
Tasha // shiwashiful.
YES, ABSOLUTELY ❤
Congratulations! You’ve done a lot better with your no-buy than me ^.^;; MAC lipsticks are simply wonderful. Feels good to rediscover them, no? I still am anti-mascara most days because daily wear makes my lashes fall out no matter how careful I am in removal and then my lashes wind up short and sparse… I recommend you try not to wear it more than once or twice a week or you will start to hate it again. I like this new series and look forward to more 🙂
Yay 🙂 I really have lost all desire to buy stuff. Well, almost. I have my eye on a couple of things, to be honest. 🙂 Thanks for the tip, I definitely haven’t been bothered yet to wear them for consecutive days. I usually use a bi-phase/oil+water remover, though. Maybe that will help you out. Thanks for the comment! x
NEED to try the Nars concealer, it sounds so good!
Rachel Coco
It’s great 🙂 Very pleased with it, but I noticed it’s dried up faster than other concealers I use.
i love the Nars primer! I have really oily lids and this is literally the only product that works for me. Urban Decay’s and Too Face’s primers didn’t do anything for me. I was so hesistant to try the Nars primer but I’m so glad I did!
Great blog btw! xoxox
My favorite is UDPP! 🙂 But yeah, this one was good, too. Thank you!
yay nice job! I had a good start to the year but not that good! also, yay that you love the nars primer!
I feel like a traitor, lol.
