Quick post of an FOTD, in which I had to force myself to wear a non-neutral lip and not regret it. (It worked out okay.) I was also watching a video on highlighters the night before and it made me really want to break out my BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector again, so I did.
The base is pretty simple: I worked in a bit of the SSP on the high points of my face and patted on my foundation (instead of swiping, blending, etc it in). I learned this from Karima/Shameless Fripperies, and it’s made my foundation sit so much better on my skin AND it makes me use less product! I concealed a little under my eyes, and set my t-zone with a loose translucent powder.
I used Dim Light under my eyes and Radiant Light around my cheekbone hollows; both by Hourglass. I contoured a little with NYX Taupe. Eye makeup is mainly from the NARSissist palette (Madrague 2 all over, Bali in the crease, Fez in the inner 2/3 of the lid) and a single from ColourPop—my favorite—called Doe-a-Deer. I lined the outer 2/3 with a smudgy brown-black liner from Urban Decay and slicked on some mascara without curling my lashes.
Then the lipstick: NARS Audacious in Dominique. I LOVE this color. It’s just not a shade I’d wear everyday. I do love it lightly on my lips, though, so to make it a bit less bold to wear, I apply it on my bottom lip and just press my lips together, so the pigment isn’t as full on. It’s still bright and beautiful, but not so intimidating!
And here’s a smiley photo so you can see that it doesn’t make your teeth look yellower.

Anyway, I’ve been quite lazy with makeup, so it’s nice to spend a little more time really just playing around with stuff. I’ve been looking at new stuff to buy—all are palettes, AGH!—but I have yet to cave. I do kind of want to buy a little somethin’ to celebrate my finally getting a column in one of our national broadsheets! Yay!
I’m looking at 4 palettes in particular; feel free to weigh in:
— LORAC Pro 2, but the obsession has died a little
— Too Faced Chocolate Bar, same deal as ^^
– NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow Palette, hnngh. I’m not sure how much I’ll use this, though.
— Hourglass Modernist Eye Palette, either Infinity, Obscura, or Exposure… or all three. Just kidding. Or am I?
So far, I’ve only come thisclose to purchasing the latter two. I’d been wanting the LORAC Pro 2 and Too Faced Chocolate Bar palette for a while that “wanting” them has ceased to mean anything to me. Haha a little dramatic, but you know what I mean, right?
Anyway, thoughts? Let me know, I’d love some help!

gosh, Dominique is so gorgeous!I’ve been so back and forth on whether or not I should get it, but you make it look so wearable!
Haha I’ve been wanting to use it more, but it always seems so BOLD, so when I applied it slightly lighter, it turned out OK 😀
That lipstick shade is so pretty.
Glad you think so, Faith!
Perfect selection of products! You look flawless!

Thank you, Rachel Marie!
I love this look, and the lipstick is…how do you put it? HHNNNGGGHHH haha 😀 Anywho, I have the Lorac Pro 2 and I have to say I barely ever reach for it or the original anymore after the initial novelty wore off. The color I like most in it is the matte plum shade and it just doesn’t blend very well, which kinda sucks when I try to smoke out my crease or whatever with it. Ah well, that’s my two cents.
HEY YOU! 😀 Yay, thanks so much!! Glad to hear that, I wanted the pro 2 primarily for the matte plum shade, so that helps a lot. Thanks for sharing! x
Haha and I’m usually the drug dealer of the makeup world…”here, you should try this, it’s reeeeaaalllyyy good” 😀
This lipstick is amazing on you! ❤ https://blondewaves.wordpress.com xxx
Thank you so much 🙂
Dominique is so unique (HA!) that I find it really hard to describe it. Overall, it’s very pleasing and I like how it brings out a certain dimension to your overall complexion!
I vote for the NARS because I feel like it’s a good marriage of neutrals and colors. Not gonna lie- that blue is just calling out to me!
Ack, I’m probably gonna have to get that! That’s what I’m gravitating towards, too.
You are so gorgeous! I love this lipstick shade on you so much; your original review on it is actually what finally made me go ahead and order it. We have a similar skin undertone, although I’m quite fair. So happy this works on me as beautifully as it works on you! I also prefer to tone it down a bit from its full opacity shade, but I usually apply it over a thin layer of Fresh Sugat Advanced Therapy Lip Treatment and it is perfect!
Thank you, Jennifer! I’m so happy it works for you, too. 😀 It’s a risky shade to get, lol
Ugh I’ve been eyeing the Chocolate Bar palette for the longest time too but so far haven’t been pushed over the edge to get it. NARS looks so pretty and luxurious but I too doubt the use you’d get out of it.
Haha I’ve said no na to the Chocolate Bar palette. I figure I have tons of neutrals that I can use until the end of time. I couldn’t resist re: the NARS one, though!
